We stayed overnight on a recent visit. The hotel is reasonably easy to find and is very close to the shops ans restaurants and peace park. The rooms are small but standard for Japan. Same with the bathrooms. We couldn't checkin early as our room wasnt ready even though it was only 30 minutes before checkin time. A good hotel overall.

The Hiroshima Washington is in the perfect location for exploring Hiroshima's main sites. Round the corner from a myriad of shops and a short walk from the Peace Park. After a hard day's walking it was wonderful to come back to a quiet room - with a bath! And after recovering, a few minutes walk to experience the delight of okonomi-mura. Delicious!

Location is excellent. Less than 10 minute walk to peace memorial and eating street and under a 1000 yen taxi ride from hiroshima station. Rooms were much larger than our previous hotel with all the amenities expected. Price for room was by far the best we saw anywhere in Japan. The currency exchange rate at the reception was also excellent.

Great hotel in a fantastic location near the hub of Hiroshima, with lots of shops and restaurants near by. Easy walking distance to peace park and a-dome. 20 min walk from station thought there are 3 trams that go to/from the station at the top of the road. 30 min walk from the baseball stadium. Great sized room, amazing Japanese soaking tub. Pillows were a bit strange but we were so exhausted from sight seeing we slept well anyway. would definitely stay here if we returned to Hiroshima

We were very happy with our stay in Hiroshima at the Hiroshima Washington Hotel. Check in was very easy - staff spoke English well and were friendly and helpful. Reception is on the 4th floor along with the coin operated laundry, breakfast restaurant and vending and ice machine. The room was sizeable and very comfortable. We had the double bed and there was plenty of room. Breakfast was amazing!!, this was the nicest breakfast we had at any of our hotels - they had fresh juice, western style and... Read more

I live in Japan, and I planned a visit to Hiroshima for our family of four plus a visiting grandfather. I had never been to Hiroshima and chose the Washington Hotel based on glowing online reviews. It was easily the best decision of the trip. Overall the hotel was very well maintained and the rooms extremely clean. We had small rooms with only one double bed--and no closet. Thankfully we visited during warm weather so we didn't need to hang much, but it was a bit of a drag to live out of suitca... Read more

After reading so many great reviews of this property I had reasonably high expectations. The hotel location is great, otherwise I would have given the property a one star. When we arrived the lobby smelled of cigarettes. They have a room off the lobby for smokers, but the offensive odor was quit unpleasant and made for a bad first impression. Check-in was ok, but the gentleman helping us could not communicate very well in English. Our room is only slightly larger than a broom closet. The TV h... Read more

Very nice room - small double bed (as advertised), but the room was more spacious than some at other Japanese business hotels, and had a lovely bathroom with lots of amenities. Excellent location near public transit, shopping & restaurants, with a great view of the city. Reasonably priced. Good for solo travelers or couples who don't mind a small room; not particularly suitable for a family with small children.

I can't understand why this hotel is rated so highly on TA. Sure the location is good but everything else about this hotel is average. If you are arriving at Hiroshima station you can get any of streetcar numbers 1, 2 or 6 to Hatchobori (stop 7) and the hotel is half a block away. Alternatively the taxi I took only cost 850 yen. As far as the hotel goes check in was a bit of a shambles with lots of people trying to check in on the allocated time. Staff were not overly friendly. I had a double r... Read more

This is a newer hotel with small rooms but enough room to function. The bathroom and shower area was nice and roomy with all the items you might need. They offer a delicious breakfast buffet with many options and choices for $13 until 11am. Super convenient location within walking distance to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel has just been refurbished to more modern look. Reception on 4th level and staff was very helpful with good English. Rooms are on the small size bathrooms are large with shower and toilet separated. Hotel is situated in main shopping district close to large shopping arcade and karaoke bars which are a lot of fun with the family at night time. A bomb site and the museum is about a block away from hotel to walk and about a 20 min walk to castle . Caught a train and ferry to itsukushima shrine... Read more

The hotel is nice, room are very clean and spacious. However, breakfast is not included in the price of the room. I personally think that for the price of the room it should be. Good breakfast though! In terms of information staff is helpful and they have a very good leaflet in English how to go to Miyajima!

Near the tram line from Hiroshima Station and walking distance from the Museum and Okonomi-mura (best Okonomiyaki in Japan). Great breakfast and staff. We did't check for a non-smoking room and they helped us with a non-smoker's room.

It was your standard Japanese hotel - has all the amenities you need, comfortable bed, wifi, etc - but the location is really want does this place justice. It's close to absolutely everything you want to see in the city. I highly recommend a boat trip to Miyajima as well - one of the highlights of my trip.

This was a great comfortable hotel. The room was nice and modern for Japan. The bed was quite firm but still comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were extremely helpful as we left something in another hotel and they helped us a lot to arrange to get those items back. Note: slight noise in the room that you can hear from the street but it wouldn't deter me from staying again

The location of this hotel was absolutely perfect. Right by shops, bars, transport, and Okonomimura. The hotel itself was really nice, room was fine and washroom was amazing, Japanese style. Overall, I would absolute recommend this hotel for Hiroshima.

We enjoyed Hiroshima, and this hotel is nicely located near good shopping and places to eat, and only a twenty minute easy walk to the Peace Park. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful and the air-con was the coolest yet (necessary in our steamy September stay) Wifi also solid and reliable. Downsides were the rooms are small, bed was pretty hard and no bottled water in the room, which is a surprise here.

First of all, the Washington looks really nice online. The official website and some other booking sites make it look like a 5 star resort, but don't be fooled. It's a mid range business hotel fit for budget travelers. room was surprisingly large for a business hotel, and the bathroom was huge. Featured a proper bath and shower room like you'd find in a private home. However, the floor of the shower was covered in black mold. It was pretty gross, and obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while. I'... Read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 days on our visit to the city. The location was perfect - quite far from the Station but within walking distance of great shops and the Peace Memorial Park. Close to many restaurants, bars and department stores. Rooms were smallish (as usual in Japan) but clean and comfortable and had everything you may need. The area was bright and loud but the rooms were well insulated so it was hardly heard at night. This hotel is very conveniently located. An extensive covered mall backs on to this facility The included breakfast has lots of variety. A good selection of fresh fruit, cereals breads and pastries etc. North American hotels providing breakfast could learn a lot from how this and other Japanese hotels that serve an included breakfast.

The location was great for walking to the Atomic Bomb landmarks, and the nearest tram stop was just 3 minutes walk away (which could take you to train station). The room was comfy. I had a single room and size was typical of Japanese hotels. Spotlessly clean. Staff I met were all very helpful. Breakfast was more Japanese style with a few options for western tastes. Would certainly return - was perfect for my sightseeing, 1 night visit and the price was certainly fair.

We don't know about other hotels in Hiroshima but this one was the worst hotel we stayed in Japan altogether. Still an ok stay but definitely nothing to rave about. Room not cleaned well, small, really hard and uncomfortable pillows, the reception is located on the 4th floor so you don't get any interaction with staff and it just feels like a basic place to stay. Great location for the buzz but everything still shuts quite early on Hiroshima (like 9pm) so there's not much to do. On a side note ... Read more

Modern hotel located in the heart of shopping district of Hiroshima. Hatchobori is the closest tram stop and easy to get to from Hiroshima train station. Okonomimura is just around the corner to try out the classic Hiroshima okonomiyaki dishes. Staff were great. Rooms small but as expected in Japan.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a recent visit to Hiroshima. It's located in the central business area of town (literally around the corner from the famous Okonomiya building that houses several floors serving their famous version of okonomiyaki...which I personally loved way more than the Osaka version!) and is convenient to lots of shopping and 10-15 minute walking distance to the major sights like Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Dome. Location is just about unbeatable at Hatchobori and Hondori where tons of restaurants and shops are located. Walking distance (<10-15 minutes) to Atomic Bomb Dome, Shukkien, and Hiroshima Bus Center/Sogo. Hiroshima station is 15 minutes away on the tram or bus.
