What a charming little village and we were very happy with this hotel. We were lucky to be there during they day when this village celebrates their annual oyster harvest festival. We had a lot of oysters, they are huge compared to finer type of French oysters but delicious anyway. We had it raw, steamed, in curry bread, in sushi, etc.. We had typical Japanese tatami and sleep in futon type of room facing the bay, very relaxing environment. They serve dinner in the room. It was amazing experi... Read more

The staff was excellent, super friendly and attentive. We arrived sooner than expected and they kept our luggage, even offered a ride back to the pier. The room was clean and very well maintained, the tatamis felt new; the view was awesome! The futons were warm and really comfortable, the staff prepares it. The public bath was great, clean and relaxing. Both the japanese dinner and breakfast were abundant and delicious.

From the entering the building you are hit with quality experience of a Ryokan hotel. I would recommend this place to anyone staying at Miyajima. They are located only five minutes by bus to the main area. They run shuttles quite often. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I usually never write reviews but this place really impressed me.

Room with superb seaview. Staffs are friendly and good english. Fast response after a ring for shuttle bus service. Had a walk after breakfast at seaside accompany with deer, what a memorable moment! Dinner served in-suite and the quality is OK but more can be expected. Breakfast is quite disappointed, with eggs cooked terribly, although you can chose either Japanese/Western style when check-in

Myself and two friends stayed in the Miyajima Seaside Hotel for 2 nights from the 11th-13th April 2016. We travelled by bullet train from Kyoto and it was relatively painless changing onto the local train to Miyajimaguchi where you take the ferry across to the island. If you have a Japan Rail Pass, you can use the Japan Rail ferry service free of charge. Arrived on the island and thought it would be a good idea to walk to the hotel with our luggage. Whilst the hotel is walking distance from th... Read more

Location - at the west tip of the island away from the madding crowd near the shrine. They‚??ll pick you up at the station, ask the nice English-speaking lady at tourist information to call the hotel for you. Room/Amenities - Japanese tatami style, large room w a small balcony. The whole hotel needs a face lift but it‚??s clean. Our sea view is serene, deer roaming on the lawn just outside. Service ‚?? Wifi signal is low. The 10 course dinner and breakfast are great with multiple variety, wel... Read more

My grandparents used to come to Japan in the '60s and 1970s for my grandfather's work. I totally imagined them staying in a place like this. I didn't realized when I booked that Seaside is so far outside of town. We actually started walking there from the ferry and had been walking awhile when the hotel shuttle bus passed us. It stopped and gave us a lift, which is when we appreciatively realized we were only halfway there and had more hill to climb. Definitely get to know the shuttle hours/sche... Read more

This hotel is probably one of the furthest hotels from the pier where you usually arrive to Miyajima. However they have a shuttle bus service which picks you up from and takes you to the pier/promenade area of the island. Just give them a call from the station or in advance and they send the bus. The hotel itself looks quite modern outside and in the lobby. However, the rooms are traditional Japanese. The area around the hotel is very quiet with cute deer walking around (as all over the whole ... Read more

We stayed here as part of a study abroad garden tour that we led through Japan with 16 college students. We were probably a bit too loud at times and for this we apologize to the wonderful hotel staff. This was a real treat for us after some of the very tiny rooms we stayed in up to this point as our room was grand with both traditional tatami mats and a bedroom with two double beds. My colleague and I opted to sleep on the mats (they provide plenty of additional bedding so don't worry about you... Read more

One of the most beautiful places to visit. A treasure in every way. The Miyajima Seaside Hotel is only 1.5km from the main area and with an easy to call shuttle bus service is super convenient. Service was excellent and food delicious. Strange that the onsen closes in the middle of the day 9-15 but I expect there is a good reason for it.

At Miyajima Seaside Hotel we received a lovely welcome and semi-vip care. Actually it is a modern - Japanese style hotel, with spacious rooms and a quiet location. Also there is a free shuttle to the main area. Highly recommended!

Well run resort with shuttle bus service to and from ferry & town. Offers Japanese and western breakfast included and an evening meal plan too. Our room had large tatami mat area with table which hotel made up with two futons in the evening. Great air con and bathroom and toilet were modern and clean. Resort offers public baths for men and women. Large Onsen style pool with rich waterfall and seperate hot tub.c bottom Yukata provided for use throughout hotel.

The hotel is older and in traditional Japanese style, with tatami mat floor and futons. It's a little bit out of town but there is a shuttle and the staff were very flexible with various pick ups and drop offs. Our room included breakfast and dinner, we did not eat dinner as the times were limited and we wanted to stay out later as we were only there one night. Breakfast was nice. The room was very large and had a lovely view of the sea. However our room had a very strong and awful smell, as did... Read more

It's a ryokan hotel with huge and charming rooms. The sea view is great. The quality of service really makes a difference and it will stay as one of our best hotel memories from Japan. Located 3 km from the ferry, they have a private shuttle service. You call them and they pick you up in 5 min. You can enjoy a bath in the Ocean just in front of the hotel or at the "onsen" bath inside. We picked the Japanese diner and breakfast and it was really a good choice. Crude fish, tempura, backed fish, ri... Read more

The four of us spent two nights at the Miyajima Seaside Hotel between 24 & 26 Jul. This, the first of our ryokan experience, turned out to be a wonderful one. It is true the hotel looks a bit tired but that is easily made up by the impeccable service. We loved our rooms, situated on a high floor commanding full sea view. Some may find the hotel a bit far from where all the actions are, meaning the pier area with all the shops, restaurants and shopping. Indeed, the hotel is only a 5-minute d... Read more

We have been in Japan 15 nights including a couple of other ryoken stays. This hotel presents the best ryoken experience we have had. The room is spacious, clean and we'll presented. The bath room is rather dated but perfectly functional. The shuttle ride from the ferry terminal was informative of the local area with a friendly driver. Staff were accomodating on arrival. The onsen (public bath) was spacious and pleasant to use. The in-room dinner was outstanding! We loved it all! It was ta... Read more

I stayed at Miyajima Seaside Hotel ("MSH") with two other people, during my last trip around Japan. The island is so good to visit that I chose to come back for the second year in a row. This time I chose MSH instead of other ryokans I already tried in the past. The structure is beautiful and it's conveniently placed near the sea, with a beautiful view. We had a room in perfect ryokan style and the onsen is very good. The people at MSH are extremely kind and gentle, more than anywhere else (we h... Read more

This nice big ryokan is located slightly off the beaten path but has a shuttle often going back and forth to the harbour even during the evening. We had a seaside view room which was large and spacious (which is rare in Japan) The staff were very caring and helpful during all of our stay. Sure, the building and rooms have seen better days and are maybe past their prime, but this does not detract from the nice overall experience. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were included in our stay and the form... Read more

This is an unpretentious hotel, which was a pleasant surprise. It is by the seaside as its eponymous name suggests but I doubt that many people take a dip here as it is next to a jetty. Nevertheless, it is a ryokan and we were served a splendid dinner with all the accompanying dishes that were well explained by our hostess. Additionally, the hotel provided the yukatas needed to be worn for dinner and for walking around the hotel. After dinner, when we were ready to go to bed, two people turned... Read more

Arrived in the resturant for breakfast and sat down next to a table with two people picking through their breakfasts. The waitress came and asked them to move as they were sat at our table with our pre ordered breakfasts . The waitress then asked us to move and eat the food that they had picked over. Disgusting .

Miyajima Seaside hotel was generally good, not great but we have no major complaints. It's quite a tired hotel, it's sort of like going back in time 15 years, none the less the room are nice, and the views fantastic. The food was good, and we tried a wide range of traditional Japanese food and the serving staff were very friendly. Front desk staff were a bit odd but as I say no major complaints! When we arrived on the island via the ferry the shuttle bus was luckily waiting for us just to the... Read more

- Old hotel. Furniture, bathroom, room are old. - A bit far from the city center to go by foot. Happily there is a shuttle bus. - Onsen is NOT mixed gender. I know it's not common but some hotels proposes onsen mixed, which is more convenient when you go with your wife or husband. - A bit expensive for the overall service. - They let us book a short boat tour around the Great Torii knowing that the explanations would be only in Japanese and we don't speak Japanese .... + Free shuttle bus effici... The dinners, served to the room were outstanding, the staff was so nice and helpful and did their best to please. The view of the sea from the window and the remote quiet location was wonderful - no pb getting there, they have a shuttle constantly running. The rooms are huge and they have games that kept us transfixed for hours while in the room. I would highly recommend this place.

I want to give a review that is as detailed and honest about my impression as possible because if you don't know what this hotel is you may be very badly disappointed and it is really expensive for what it is (30,000 JPY for one night for two people). We selected this hotel because of great reviews on Tripadvisor but I really don't understand why this hotel has high ratings. It does not deserve to get 4 and 5 star ratings in anyway. It is old, stale and cheap all around, and calling it a "ryoka... Read more
