I always do my homework on places, hotels and the experiences people have way before I even book tickets. Looking at Fun Holiday, the reviews seemed pretty good with a few negative ones but that is to be expected. The bus ride to the hotel from Montego Bay Airport took 1.5 hours but its sight seeing. As you can see from the various photos on this website, the hotel is 2 stories facing each other with little porches and balconies. One pool, one dining area, one buffet and one bar. We had an AWESOME time. I must say.. this has been one of my favourite trips!!! Checking in.. I met "Anna" who seemed very warm and gentle.. we even laughed a bit. When we got into our room, I thought "nope... I won't be staying here again". The rooms are VERY basic.... nothing fancy but clean and that's all I care about. I think they must either turn off the water pressure down in the evening or everyone's having a shower in the morning because there was almost no water pressure, down to a drip but we just mentioned something at the office and instant water pressure. As long as I could brush my teeth and wash my face, I was good. I was in the amazing ocean all day anyway. I would not recommend this resort to anyone who is a time stickler, anal retentive or closed minded. Breakfast is 8 ish, lunch is 2 ish and dinner is 7 ish. Because I'm an "ish" person myself, this was just fine as well with the friends I went with. The food was great! Alternating dinners consisted of grilled fish one night, lobster another night, jerk chicken... yum, yum, yum! One of the nights they were offering 2 for 1 lobsters for $38 US so we paid for that thinking that the "all inclusive" people were not going to experience lobster as part of the regular meals. The next day, grilled lobster was served to everyone. That was a bit annoying. I just thought for next time when I go back there (and I will) I will wait a day or so and not buy the night they are offering that. No issues ever waiting for a drink at the bar. Gary was the bartender and was never rude. There are only 45 rooms so not a lot of people. About 2 days in, walking to the dining area in the morning, everyone is saying "good morning.. how ya doin". The atmosphere at Fun Holiday is very comfortable. Because it's so small, everyone gets to know everyone. You don't have to have conversation with everyone but we all see each other everyday. In a large resort, no one knows anyone.... I did get up in the morning (around 6) to place our towels on the chairs under the palm shade things on the beach but that didn't bother me. I just went back to my room after either watching tv or sleep. There are many people selling lots of things on the beach but you just have to say no thank you. Gordon, the security guy, did a pretty good job of keeping most of the people away although I didn't mind most of the people at all. They are just trying to make a living. There is a lovely lady by the name of Janet who braids hair in which I got half my head done. Her chair is located just to the left behind a building so don't get freaked out thinking on where she is taking you. Ninja is the maintenance guy who can get you hooked up for some excursions and very reasonably priced (we didn't use the Sunwing lady). We went snorkeling on a glass bottom boat close to an island in the distance for $25 US and a afternoon catamaran (which was such an awesome day - music, all booze, meal, Rick's café, caves) for $60 US. Great day!!! The ocean was SPECTACULAR!!! Like a swimming pool...blue, blue, blue, clear, clear, clear!!!! And when we went snorkelling, and seeing the whole beach knowing that there were ritzy hotels on the same beach, I thought why would I pay so much money to stay at a 5 star hotel when I'm getting this awesome 3 star for less money to stay on the same beach? I am planning to return to this resort for sure. Great place, great staff, great food and awesome atmosphere!!! Oh... I have 4 kids in which I left at home. Although this is not an adult resort, there were no kids (which I personally liked) and I would not recommend bringing your kids. Remember, you are in Jamaica .... :) :) :) Get it? Lol!! I am definitely returning!!!!
