Rosalyn Cox-Holloway from Philadelphia, PA had this to say:
"This was a paradise. My only complaint was that my stay wasn't long enough. The Gran Bahia is a gorgeous place to stay. It is a great value for the money. The staff was very polite and cordial. The food was scrumptious and the drinks were divine. Please don't change a thing. I will see you next year with more of my family."

"Long bus trip from the airport, but it was worth every minute. Our only regret is that we asked our family, which resides in Jamaica to visit us, while we were there, and they were treated horribly. During your stay, you are entitled to three `reservation only` dinners, but they could only accommodate us for one. Overall, we would stay there again. The resort is beautiful."

"I went to Bahia Principe. It was a very good trip. The only thing you will need is a trip advisor to help you plan trips to go outside of the resort. You can do about everything in the hotel in 4 days. Then you get bored. At night they have the best burgers at the burger shack place in the resort mall. The place is beautiful. We even had a wedding here. Just go and, trust me, you will love it."

A Recent Traveler from Atlanta, Georgia had this to say:
"I was very disappointed with the new management. This was our third time @ this resort within 10 months 7/2008, 12/2008, 5/2009. We will not be returning!! It took two days to get face towels for our room. They had bar soap (which had everyone's germs on it) in all the public bathrooms instead of liquid soap (trying to cut cost). The Spanish employees (mainly management) were very disrespectful and rude to the Jamaican employees. It was very discouraging to see. I spent a lot of time @ the lobby bar area and the pool area where the bartenders were very polite, professional and energetic. They had a lot of spirit. They keep everyone excited and laughing all day. One particular young man stood out as a STAR bartender by the name of Maurice Robb. We had to get his full name as we said we would make a point to give mention to his manager, Valentine (who seemed to not have a good attitude). Maurice put a smile on everyone`s face. My husband and I remembered him from the other two times we were @ the resort. He left such a great impression. He is very well mannered and very articulate. We were hoping to see him in management by now. There was also a gentleman by the name of Paul who was also a very good bartender. At the lobby bar Delecia was one of the waitresses who was also a STAR. Again, very disappointed this time and I will not take another chance here. I will be booking another vacation for Jamaica within two months and it will not be @ the Bahia."

Barbara from Halifax, NS Canada had this to say:
"My husband hates to travel so I wanted this trip to be great as we would be celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. I checked a lot of resorts before settling on the Bahia Principe. We both have demanding jobs and really needed the time out just to relax and the Principe gave us just that. I would suggest you go Club Golden so your a la carte reservations are already booked and there is no worry of not getting in. This is a spectacular resort with wonderful staff. We felt very welcome from the time we checked in to check out. The food was great with lots of choices and the staff very accommodating. We hired a car and driver to take us to Ocho Rios for the day and Tyrone was fabulous. He took us to so many other spots like Fern Gully, Scotchies, Wassi Art, shopping etc. and this helped us to understand more of the Jamaican customs. If you are looking to hire someone, he works for Juta Tours, just ask for Tyrone. He is a retired police officer of 37 years so he really knew his stuff and we felt very safe. It is a must to try the jerk chicken, soooo good. The serve it in the buffet and at the barbeque everyday down at the beach snack bar. There is nothing better than swimming in the Caribbean Sea; it is like going into a warm bath, fantastic. There is not a lot of night life at this resort but they do have the bus (free of charge) that takes you to Margaritaville in Ocho 2 times per week. This didn't matter to us as we enjoyed what was there. We met several people from England, USA, and a lot more Canadians. Canadians are known to love Jamaica and the Jamaicans certainly love the Canadians. What a great place to stay- clean, friendly, beautiful property. My husband didn't want to come home. So I guess it is safe to say we will see you all again mon, no problem."

Terri from Washington, MO had this to say:
"We had a group of 8 traveling at the end or February into March. Pulling up to the Gran Bahia from the airport we were all impressed at this grand looking resort...'looking' being the key word. The grounds were manicured nicely and the front lobby was elegant and inviting but once we left the lobby to seek out our rooms our opinions quickly changed. This is a 2 year old resort and by the looks of the hall carpet and ceilings it appeared to be used & abused! Stained carpets and ceilings that looked as if the Gran Bahia was subjected to continual flood/water problems. Rooms were ok- spacious and clean. Had trouble getting wash cloths and cream/sugar for the coffee (tipping did not change the situation)- our view was over a 1/2 completed building with rusty rebar sticking up - looking as if they had run out of money to complete the project. Upon arriving the hotel staff only wanted to give us 1 room key - get 2! The room's air & lights are operated by the room key so...when you leave for the day all your electric goes off (cheap!). Who wants to come back to a warm/stuffy room after a day in the hot sun? Same problem with most resorts - people getting up early to hog the pool chairs by throwing towels on them. Restaurants were ok- our guys hated wearing long pants to each evening meal especially when they saw women wearing t-shirts and shorts being admitted to the buffet! Beach is a hearty walk but overall nice. I know we are getting old but would have loved some of the night life to start a little earlier-we still like to shake our groove thing but we need to start earlier than when the doors open at 11:00 p.m.! Bring OFF & Afterbite as there are mosquitos that left welts. Best food was at the beach where they served jerk chicken right off the BBQ. Bring insulated travel mugs to keep your drinks cold, sand free and to keep you from tracking across the beach to replenish your little plastic cup from the bar. I know most of this sounds negative but overall when you are on vacation with a group of friends, who could not have a great time? I just feel that for the money this resort was less than our expectations and it should have been much more!"

"Stayed here January 2009 with 7 other couples. Power outages were frequent. Mosquitos and small ants in the room. Fisherman's resturant was horrible. Japanese was ok....beach was ok...rocky. Beach to the left had good snorkeling. Buffet was pretty much the same every night....didn't really follow the theme night from what I could see. Rooms were big and beautiful. Grounds were beautiful. Had to pay for in room safes. "

Antoinette from London, UK had this to say:
"What a breath of fresh air. Much better than I expected having read the mixed reviews. Excellent value for money as we choose this hotel because it was one of the cheaper all-inclusive however still had a lot to offer. My Husband and I spent the first five days of our honeymoon there Feb 2009 before going on to stay with family. Could have happily stayed longer. Was so impressed by the cleaniness of brand new hotel and the attentiveness of the staff. Suite was cleaned thoroughly every day. We were never far from a bar or a member of staff offering to get us a drink. Food at buffet was outstanding morning, noon and lunch. Pool lovely, beach and sea outstanding. Some of the guest said it was too quiet for them but for we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Beach towels on sun beds every morning was annoying and hotel should consider how to discourage guests hogging beds for whole day . The only negative we had was that initially our reservation from book it .com could not be found by hotel staff. A number of staff treated us as if we were gate crashing or assumed that we were staff due to our appearance and my husbands native jamaian accent. However this attitude changed once our booking was confirmed and we started to wear our wristband. Although nothing dampened the luxury surroundings and caribbean bliss. Would strongly reccomend. Make sure you also get out and about the lovely island"

Peggy from San Diego, California had this to say:
"My husband and I spent our vacation at the Gran Bahia in the fall of 2007. When booking our vacation I was impressed by the photos on-line and feared that when we arrived that it would not be as shown, it was better, we were so impressed with the accomodations. The service from the staff was top rate, and the food was great. The only thing I would like to have had more of was a larger selection of the island dishes served at their buffet. I wanted to experience the cultural foods and music of the people of Jamaic. I would have been nice to have had that choice at the hotel. Overall, our vacation was A and we plan to return to the Gran Bahia again this fall. "

"My husband and I brought my daughter and boyfreind 16 years old and they had the time of their lives ,infact we are going back next year. Jerk chicken was good and the disco and kareoke was awesome. The restaurant s were all good but he Don Pablo and the Japonese were the best of all .Loved the variety at the breakfast buffet. The pool we can't say much about it looked good but we went to the beach as often as we could....can't wait to go back !! Loved it even more then the Riu in Mexico."

"I have been going to Jamaica since the early 90's, but this time I just wanted to RELAX. This resort gave me exactly what I needed. The beach was a nice distance from the pool area which gave me the opportunity to sit and enjoy some nice quiet evenings reading and watching the sunset. The Seafood restaurant was MAGNIFICIENT. The buffets had a nice variety each day. The staff was extremely friendly one of the ladies even had a friend make me some Jamiacan CD's for a small price and helpful in showing me how to catch public transportation into Ocho Rios instead of paying the expensive cost of a taxi.
