"I traveled to Royal Decameron on a family trip with 11 others and we had a great time! The resort is beautiful but simple. It's a type of place for those who want to be right in the middle of things and are not looking for luxurious accommodations. Though they only have one main restaurant the food is great; lots of variety every day. The restaurant requiring reservations is also very good and I wish I had gotten to eat there more than once, but I will be back! The resort is right on the beach so what else could you ask for? Also, right on the hip strip so you can access a lot of things in Mo Bay by just walking if you want to venture out. Great resort, and for the price you can't go wrong."

"My friend and I went to Jamaica for our birthday (December 12-16) and stayed at the Royal DeCameron! It was absolutely great! It was close to the Hip Strip and we were able to walk to all of the shops and even to a couple of the clubs. The staff was great! The bartenders were very friendly and the waiters and waitresses were very attentive to us! There was live entertainment every night and the Entertainment crew did a magnificent job of making us feel very special on our birthday! lol There was a free shuttle to the 'Pier' where we had a blast!

The only suggestion I have for improvement would be the showers. They could use some painting and upgrading. Also the elevator in the lobby is too small for guests to get on. But the rooms were kept clean and the property was kept very clean."

"This trip was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed the resort every day. The food, the entertainment, the staff, the beach and Caribbean Sea, the tours we went on, the snorkeling, the swimming, the weather,the canoeing, and especially the variety of drinks were definitely the best. The dolphin cove has to be the highlight of this trip because swimming with the dolphins was a beautiful experience. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

"I was very pleased with our 6 day stay in mid November. It was clean, weather was perfect. Employees were kind and helpful. You feel like they are your friends. Our plan was just to relax and that is what we did. All of the rooms are oceanfront and getting up in the morning and having coffee on the balcony was the norm.Food was good. Enjoyed our time at the pool and pool bar. I will be coming back next year and telling my friends about it."

"Decameron Montego Bay was Great! even though it wasn't one of the bigger resort it competed right up there with them. the hotel was clean and had a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. the staffs were wonderful and very helpful, firendly social and they try to give the guest a good time with activities and entertainment. it's right in the hip strip so you can just take a walk down the street and do some shopping. One thing I love about this hotel was that the staffs did not ask or mention anything about tips after every service they perform for you or even make it feel like they are expecting one. aslo as a side note to anyone who is planing a trip, you have to make resveration to eat at Pier One on the waterfront, the food is yummy and it gives a nice view at night, ocean on one side the city lights on the other, when my girlfriend and I went it had stop raining but was still thundering and lightining and it was so nice seeing the lightining show and feeling the breeze. I will be back for sure, great first time experience"

"This was my first time staying at the Royal Decameron so I didn't know what to expect. I must say looking at it from the road it looks really run down but once I walked up I was really impressed!! The room was very nice and clean. My room was located on the first floor and right in front of the pool which was where the entertainment crew hung out at!! I loved the fact that I could walk out the sliding door and walk or swim up to the bar!! The staff was amazing and always wore a smile. The hotel is located right by the Hip Strip where you can do all of your shopping so you don't have to pay for a taxi. The bad part about this hotel was the food!! I came to Jamaica so i expected Jamaican food!! This hotel has Mexican and Italian nights. I didn't travel all the way to Jamaica to eat tacos and spaghetti!! I wanted my Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Rice and Peas, Dumplings etc... For breakfast one morning they had pork and beans and franks O_o Really?? Who does that?? I had to travel outside to eat Jamaican food which I didn't like. They also had killer mosquitos!! I got ate up while eating in the dining area. Buy Some Off.."

"Please understand these numbers that I gave was for the Montego Bay resort not the one they sent us to that we had no choice but to go to it,which was over a hour away. Went through Bookit.com and thought after calling to confirm everything that we were all-set for a 8 day vacation . Showed up at resort nothing open for us even after we showed the confirmation number. We were lost in away not knowing what to do we headed to the resort via there transfer. Resort weasn't NEW at all and they blamed bookit when 75% of the people there were from Montego Bay and come to find out they just over book and transfer the people up there like cattle. The start to agreat week was blown away quickly.They would not help me transfer my Excursions or any of my time and purchases.Management here was the worest we have ever seen. So many stories to tell I couldn't write them down. The workers at this resort were great .The food was really good too but thats it. The Beach area and the activities that were suppose to be there sucked... Could luck to anybody that goes to this resort. We really hope you get what you paid for...Billy/Michelle"

It is a small resort with lots of friendly people.

"The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the beach, as well as the market, restaurants and clubs.
For a 3.5 star, the hotel leaves much to be desired. Our air conditioner leaked, the walls in the bathroom looked like they might cave in with a slight push, and there was barely any water pressure. For an all inclusive, the hotel has a lot of extra charges, such as for wifi, room safe, GETTING AN EXTRA BOTTLE OF WATER IN YOUR ROOM, or even borrowing a pencil to fill out their review form upon check out. They wouldn't even give a late check out without a charge, even though our flight left 4 hours after checkout and there was a mix up with our room charges. In addition, be careful not to lose the room key or towel card. The charges are ridiculously expensive ($50 for a lost room key, which is an old fashioned key which costs about $2 to make).
Also, be prepared to have to win over the staff. Most don't seem overly interested in talking to you until you've proven yourself (mainly by way of tips).

Anyways, for the good stuff:
Once the staff do warm up to you, they are great, just be patient. If you want to be where the action is, choose the Decameron. Other hotels are much further away and it's not as easy to get into town. Taxi service in Jamaica is pretty expensive.
The beach is beautiful and if you get an ocean front room, nothing beats swimming in the caribbean sea (instead of the pool). There's coral very close by so you can go snorkeling at the hotel as well.
I recommend the hotel as long as you are well informed about what you're getting."

"This was my 6th time to this resort. So I was very disappointed to be told upon arrival that my group of 4 were being sent to another resort. I did not allow this to happen. This trip had been booked over 8 months in advance and I demanded a room.

All four of us had to share one room with two double beds for one night and the following day, until rooms were made available for us. This is totally unacceptable, especially to returning clients. This is not a new problem with this resort, they over book all the time.

The food was excellent this year, a big improvement, but the entertainment staff needs help. The music played daily outside, is mainly Jamacian rap,. Which to me, was played for the entertainment of the young staff and not the clients.

The nightly entertainment, was very bad and the sound system is terrible. The highlights were when the Decameron dancers were there, unfortately they are the only talent at this resort, and that is not on a nightly basis.

For the most part the staff is great, Noble in the dining room sees to great service, the swim-up bar and is wonderful. They were a huge help with the water sports. My biggest complaint was at the front desk. She just expected that we would agree to be shuffled off to a different resort upon arrival, and just kept saying, they didn't have rooms for us. NOT MY PROBLEM!!!!!

So in conclusion, make sure you have a room before you arrive. It really is a nice little 3 star resort, when all is said and done."

"The staff was very, very nice, but the rooms need to be remodeled.The bed was very uncomfortable. They need to be brought into the 21st centrury 19 inch tv's old style (box) are hard to see if not sitting in front of. Was disappointed in the choices for daily meals."
