We enjoyed a suite with terrace, with a sweeping view of Lago Maggiore. Had we desired, the pool, spa, kayaks, would have been available to us, but we were at a conference. The breakfast in the perfect-view dining room was a lovely way to start the day. Lakeside terrace afternoons were delightful, as was the intimate bar with perfect service. The green and flowered grounds were delightful to enjoy. The hotel's location allowed us an easy walk to the center of this beautiful lakeside town, ... Read more

Lovely rooms and hotel. We had a wonderful room with a balcony over looking the lake and the mighty Matterhorn mountains. Staff is friendly. Room is comfortable and clean. Nice buffet breakfast with fruits, breads, meats, cheeses. We stayed two nights and loved it!

Expansive rooms with updated furnishings, amazing views of Lake Maggiore, large veranda wonderful for morning cappuccinos or afternoon cocktails. Interior has grand, old world charm with staircase spanning four levels. Short walk to town for shopping and cafes. Staff very friendly and efficient. Incredibly good value at 170 Euros.

Lovely old hotel in Pallanza right on the lake. Good food and great views. Toscanini's summer home on the nearby island. A 10-minute walk to the ferry that takes you to the three borromeo islands with their villas and gardens. Service is a little slow but fairly obliging.

Location was good. Easy to find. Within walking distance of ferry terminal and town centre (10 mins). Right on the lake side with superb views of the lake, islands and opposite shore (that was, when it wasn't raining). Hotel amenities. Good. Large indoor pool - both water and room were comfortably warm - almost empty when we were there. Spa although not used by us except for the sauna. Dining - good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice right up to closing. Adequate dinner but expensive ... Read more

Classic, beautiful, excellent service, iconic place to work, relax or just spend your time looking at the landscaping and fill your body with the energy, aroma and view of true Italy. Great for working meetings, very relaxing to unplug from our day by day activities and focus on your task. Excellent to take a walk and enjoy two little towns on each side of the road. Food was great, service was excellent, clean, and well maintained.

Beautiful building, decor a bit faded but regal. Our bedroom (superior partial lake view) was v small, wonderful view, tiny balcony. Very quiet. Comfortable beds. The ground floor communal areas are magnificent; the bar, and the terrace are stunning. Restaurant is modern construction and beautifully situated. Nice breakfast . Lovely gardens . Pool and gym (both indoor) look nice but don't open until 10am. Unfortunately too late for me. Réception staff were helpful but a bit formal and stiff... Read more

This hotel had a beautiful position, and restaurant. The big problem was that it was very hot and the air conditioning did not work very well and one of our group had to move rooms three times do be able to have any chance of sleeping. To make matters worse the staff told her that she was the only one having any problems and this was a completely false as most people had the same problem I personally would not stay there again because we had the same issues.

We have just returned from a week at the Grand Majestic. As some reviews have commented (and as the name might suggest!), the hotel does have a somewhat grand feeling but in a way which only enhances the experience of being in a place which encourages relaxation in so many ways. The decor is warm and inviting, the view from the gardens is one which delivers peace and tranquility, the spa and pool are well maintained, the staff are helpful and unobtrusive (some have said that they have found the... Pluss: Great building and location. Big rooms and quite area, but only 5 minutes drive down-town. 1 hour drive to the alps. Service minded staff and very good cleaning. Sauna and swimmingpool were good. Fitness room acceptable equipped (but not more than that). Seaside room warm an sunny. Streetside room had far less sun. Minus: Air/Aircondiion in streetside room no good for allergic people staying severals nights in a row (2-3 Nights OK.) Breakfast was a disaster. Products were not fresh, an... Read more

Stunning views from our breakfast table with adequate complimentary breakfast selection. Staff were polite and efficient but not overly friendly, however the gentleman in charge of the pool and its surrounds went out of his way to make us comfortable . Our bathroom offered only a bath tub with a hand held shower head. It had no shower curtain or screen so having a shower was not possible. The bed was uncomfortably short and was just 2 single beds pushed together and made up as one which is per... Read more

What a lovely grand little hotel. The staff were friendly and approachable they made my husband and I feel most welcome. The gardens are beautiful and WOW what a location. We did have a little walk around the local area and found lots to keep us interested. The pool guy is helpful and all the staff are very attentive. This is a lovely hotel and I'm sure we will visit again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Grand hotel majestic. Excellent service, friendly and helpfull staff, quiet rooms, comfy beds and a terrific location. The hotel also offers lovely food, including the breakfast buffet, but could be better when it comes to vegetarian options. It was not good, even though they were told in advance.

The Hotel is in an ideal location right on the edge of the lake. The rooms are well equipped but do not have tea and coffee facilities which we found very disappointing. Our room had a wonderful view of the lake. Breakfast provided a good range of choices and we filled ourselves up for the day! The staff were friendly and helpful. Access to the lake from the hotel gardens was very convenient and the indoor pool and gym provided some alternative activities. All in all my wife and I enjoyed ... Read more

Located on Lake Maggiore and minutes walking to town, you will not be disappointed. Our suite was on the top floor with a balcony that was breathtaking. There is a small private beach and indoor pool. The gym is small , so if possible, do your exercises outside. The food was very good as well from a creative chef. About an our drive from Milan.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Back Roads tour. Whilst we recognise that tour groups are not given the best rooms in the house, our experience has left us a little bemused. The Majestic has the reputation of luxury but we were accommodated in a less than perfect room. We did not expect a view of the lake & did not get one. Our bathroom was small & basic to say the least. Whilst we accept the tour prices I must say that food & beverage charges were certainly levelled at the more afflu... Read more

We had a very pleasant two night stay here - the hotel is well appointed and the staff are both friendly and helpful. The gardens sweep down to the lake and are great for relaxing and even a quick dip. For those keener on warmer water there is a large indoor pool and a good spa with gym attached. Our room was fine, slightly tired, and with idiosyncratic light switching. Our main concern was that snacks and meals were pretty expensive. Good quality, nice service, but close to twice the price of e... Read more

Superlative: The view and the tranquillity Excellent: The pool, the (albeit small) gym, the grounds, the bedrooms and, especially the very comfortable bed Average: Breakfast - slow service, EUR5 extra for freshly squeezed orange juice, indiferent (for Italy) coffee, but good croissants Poor: The gym and pool only open at 10.00 am. The dinner menu was less than exciting - but the village restaurants are 10 minutes away. Too many coach parties seem to have sapped the enthusiasm of some (but ... Read more

We had booked this hotel from England and arrived in the evening. I use a mobility scooter and the publicity said that there were facilities for guests with disabilities. The problem was that it was not possible with my scooter to enter the hotel as the ramp is too steep 1:4. The staff had various suggestions as to how I could enter the hotel but frankly these ideas were dangerous and they did not have a clue. So after months of looking forward to this hotel we could not stay and our holiday on ... Read more

We are currently staying at Grand Hotel Majestic and we were looking forward to this stay. I booked 2 nights via Small Luxury Hotels site as we are members. We arrived just before 1.00pm and was informed that our room wasn't ready, no problem, we went for a walk to the town centre. I booked a Junior duplex suite lake view but was informed that we were upgraded to a full Suite on the 5th floor.
