We spent a week in San Sebastiano Garden Hotel, a nice hotel located little outside of the major touristic, in Dorsoduro within a 10 minutes walk from Gallerie dell'Accademia and about same to train station. The hotel has a nice boutique-style, it is located in an old building right next to with individual rooms. We first got room 10, on street level which we felt was little uncomfortable - the window right to the canal and we could not feel comfortable having the windows open. But the room is ... Read more

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in the San Sebastiano garden , hotel was lovely, & staff very friendly & helpful. We stayed in room 33 , it was lovely & clean, & had a balcony which was nice to sit out after a day exploring Venice ! We had clean sheets & towels every day. Breakfast was good, quite a lot of choice, juice, fresh rolls, toast, cakes, crossiants, meats ,cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt, etc etc etc ! The breakfast waiter didn't smile much, but on the last day we actually had a... Read more

We spent 4 nights at San Sebastiano Garden Hotel, to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We arrived at our hotel in style, with a shared water taxi from the airport. We were the last stop, dropping other passengers off first, which meant we got a fabulous trip down the Grand Canal and for a while had our very own water taxi. It was dusk when we arrived and I was blown away by Venice's beauty. The hotel was lovely. There was always someone on reception and our room was large with views ove... Read more

Booked very late and got a great deal on the room. Used the saving to get a private water taxi direct to hotel door in only half and hour from airport, giving a great approach to Venice. 24 hour manned desk with helpful and polite staff. Hotel has limited dining / bar areas as is normal in many Venetian Hotels but for fine for our needs, with breakfast dining each morning. Various bars and restaurants in vicinity for eating out. Hotel has nice private garden to rear which was generally unus... Read more

Recently stayed at the San Sebastiano Garden Hotel for our honeymoon in Venice. We arrived in Venice at 8pm and traveled to the hotel in style via a private water taxi that although cost 120 Euros was well worth the money, we were dropped right outside the hotel entrance. We were met by one of the most friendliest welcomes you could hope for in a hotel. Umberto took time to explain the hotel to us, recommend local restaurants and also things to do around Venice, which he kindly marked on a Map ... Read more

Recently spent three nights here on our third trip to Venice. Location is convenient - a bit removed from the tourist madness in a quieter area of Dorsoduro. Close to the train and bus stations, and also handy to the S. Basilio vaporetto stop. The staff are friendly, and breakfast is substantial. Overall, the hotel is a bit ramshackle - our room had missing bathroom tiles, mildewy bathroom and was not super clean. There is also a significant mosquito presence. No screens, because this is Europe ... Read more

I booked this hotel for my partners birthday - 4 days in Venice. I was taken with the pictures of the hotel and we would be staying in he true venetian part of the city - less touristic and more authentic. Unfortunately however when we arrive the room wasn't ready even though we were sent up there, the room stank of feet due to a pair of trainers on the desk and it was just a mess. To say the room was probably the worst in the hotel would be an understatement...the doors to a mini (no view) balc... Read more

Let's start with the positives. Location was excellent. Quiet and close to bars and restaurants. Can't complain about that. Reception was welcoming and staff friendly. Room was big (14) and had a nice bathroom with under floor heating. Very quiet indeed. Garden was ok. The front part of the back garden was nice. Breakfast was fresh and the staff were friendly. So far so good right? Things to work on. Reception was very dark and the so called bar was tiny. In fact they stored suitcases behind... Read more

Recently stayed at this hotel for the second time and was very glad to have done so. great room, good breakfasts and a good location in the historic city of venice. this hotel is in the quieter district of dorsoduro, much more relaxed than san marco but still five minutes from the grand canal.

The hotel is easy to get to from air port. Take the blue vapporetto to Zattere then left over one bridge then right at the Basilio docks its just down the street opposite the church across the canal. Very large rooms by European and large city standards. Small, comfortable, friendly hotel.

An easy walk from the bus and train stations, San Sebastiano Garden Hotel boasts a pleasant location where to spend a visit in Venice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Staff member, Giorgia, was especially professional and helpful. There was a problem with our first room, so Giorgia saw to it that we were moved and even arranged an upgraded room. We were so grateful and appreciative. San Sebastiano Garden Hotel was close enough to the action of the Piazza San Marco, but far enoug... Read more

The room was spacious and seemed to have all that was needed except tea and coffee making facilities, which was a disappointment to us. It is a procey hotel we paid over â?¬500 for the two of us, so I felt justified in an expectation that the bathroom provision of shower gels etc ahould have been replenished during our stay. More to the point the breakfast was average to poor with stale scrambled eggs sitting in a heater along with bacon and sausages which floated in watery liquid. The sausages... Read more

Good conditions, very good breakfast, nice personnel. Location is good, away from the crowdy and noisy streets. We had a room on the ground floor, facing the canal. Overall, a good hotel, contributing to a very nice experience in Venice.

Just checked out after a 3 night stay in room 36 and sitting in the garden while awaiting our taxi transfer. Room - spacious, clean, Venetian style. Parquet flooring, Murano chandelier, king size bed with firm mattress which suited fine. Full size single pull out bed for my 6 foot 2 son. Large spacious bathroom with over bath shower and unlimited water. Water pressure ok for the top floor and we enjoyed having a soak in the bath each evening. We were looking forward our trip to Venice, and decided to stay at the San Sebastiano Garden Hotel. Despite being rated as a 4 star hotel, and costing more than most hotels around there, the hotel was a total disappointment. A few comments : 1) The room was ugly and dirty. There were smashed spiders on the wall and our view was absolutely terrible. 2) The electrical current was not working for half of the room (including the TV). 3) On our second day, we left the hotel and put the ''Do not ... Quiet room faced one of the canals. Room was small and old but very clean. Management was excellent. Very helpful, friendly and attentive. Umberto the manager was terrific. Had lots of tips. Breakfast which was included was great. Area was great. Not near the main attractions but lots of interesting sights and along the vaporetto route so you could get to St. Mark's easily. But there were lots of cafes, restaurants and things to do. Walking along the Zattere was very pretty at night.

Nice Hotel in a quiet area of Venice - and still close to everything. The booking agency had messed up so we got the wrong room to begin with, but (I don't remember her name - a nice blonde woman) staff at reception was so nice to help out and upgrade us when they found out. Breakfast is good with what you need and a nice waiter. The only thing missing from the hotel would be a restaurant to have dinner in the lovely garden.

The breakfast had a good choice. The location was a 10min walk from the bus station. 20min walk to St Marc's Sq, and shopping area. Local restaurants provided nice options and tasty food. I stayed at the San Sebastiano Garden Hotel alone in September while visiting Venice for the first time. I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about holidaying in Venice and these are the reasons I have given it five stars: * Staff are polite, friendly and speak perfect English. We stayed here in June this year and liked it enough to return in September. On this occasion it was only for one night but had booked some time ahead. We also stayed there for 3 nights before we hopped on our sailing schooner. The location was fabulous and the hotel was lovely, quiet, and elegant. The room we had was on the top floor with lovely views of the gardens and fountain. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. A bonus was that we could take a taxi cab from the airport ( not a launch) almost all the way to the hotel and then walk just a short block to the hotel!!!

We needed a short break away from the UK and have always loved this little corner of Venice: quiet and undiscovered, but only a short walk to the Accademia and the action (if you want it!), and ten minutes' walk to the transport hub at Piazzale Roma. We were given a warm welcome on arrival and were pleased with the room. It wasn't that large, but was adequate - after all, who goes to Venice to stay in their hotel room? Our room was no 35 on the second floor, and it had a great view of the canal... Read more
