Those looking for a great hotel with convenient access to the major sights of Venice might well overlook Palazzon Stern because it doesn't look centrally located, but that would be a mistake. The front door of the hotel is 50 feet from a main stop for the vaporetto (Ca Rezzonico) which can take you conveniently and economically down St. Mark's Square or up to the Rialto Bridge in minutes. I stayed here twice, and the rooms and service were top drawer (my room didn't overlook the Grand Canal an... Read more

We have been making bi-annual visits to Venice for 40 years and this is one of the best newly restored hotels in the city. Vaporetto stop for line 1 and Alilaguna stop for Marco Polo Airport right outside the front door (on the Grand Canal). Hotel also has its own water steps for direct landing. No restaurant on site but many are available in nearby Campi- S. Barnaba, S Stefano or S. Margherita. We were thrilled with our stay at Pallazo Stern. From the complimentary boat ride from their sister hotel near the train station to the last breakfast before heading to the airport, the stay was near perfect. The concierge went the extra mile to get us reservations and to get some laundry done on the weekend (not the easiest task in a city built in a lagoon). The room was comfortable, spacious and better than described. They even had a welcome bottle of prosecco for our anniversary. The loca... Read more

The hotel is beautiful both inside and out. It has a nice location on the grand canal, just a few steps from the public boat stop on the grand canal. It's a little bit away from the heavy traffic areas, so to me it's a little less frenetic feeling than places right by the most popular attractions, but still doesn't take much time to get to San Marco, Rialto, etc. It's also conveniently located to several excellent, small restaurants. There is gorgeous woodwork in the lobby and in the lobbies... Read more

Great spot from which you can get to know the city. Fantastic location on the canal with a variety of bars and restaurants nearby. It is easy to explore from the hotel on foot or by vaporetta. Staff were helpful and friendly. The first room we were given was small and had no view and no bathtub - very disappointing - but we were relocated to a better one at a small extra daily charge. The hotel is full of beautiful art, intricate architectural details, and has a lovely altar on the top floor. My son and I were first time visitors to Venice, so we decided to stay on the Grand Canal to get the full Venetian experience. Palazzo Stern is well located in a quiet neighborhood halfway between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square, both of which are crowded, nosiy tourist areas. There are several good restaurants (don't miss dining at Prette Rosso at their sister hotel, Locanda Vivaldi) and gelato stands nearby, and even though there is a vaparetto stop next to the hotel, we found we wal... The staff were extremely nice and supportive, they upgraded my room to Deluxe room when I complained to them that my Standard room is small. We booked a standard room and were thrilled with our stay! The location was excellent for us. Not in the middle of the tourist crowds but right on the canal and boat taxi dock. All the staff we encountered went out of their way to be most helpful. We loved our stay.

We stayed at the Palazzo Stern from the 27th August for 3 nights, culminating in holding our wedding reception there on Monday 29th August, in all there were 19 of us staying at the hotel in 10 rooms, varying from the suite we stayed in to the single room. The hotel is located in a superbly renovated old Palazzo, situated in the Dorsoduro area (very nice!) of Venice, right on the Grand Canal, next to the vaporetto stop, within easy walking distance of all the major attractions and lots of rest... We stayed for our anniversary for just one night before onward travel. The location is perfect for us (on the Grand canal but just a bit out of the main tourist area). The staff were brilliant. The restaurant recommendations spot on. The room was lovely. Ours was at the back but very pretty. A bit dark when we entered but once the shutters were open it was charming. We will be back

From the minute we arrived to welcome drinks to the moment we left with the porter rushing to take our luggage we loved it. The staff especially porter/waiter Junio(?) was smiley and friendly. Our lack of Italian was never an issue. The room was amazing. Great breakfast on the terrace overlooking Grand Canal. We felt like we were honoured guests in a palace. The location was super easy to access from the airport as it is right on top of a Vaporetti water transport stop and it took about 25 minute... Read more

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights - during which time we got married in Venice & held our wedding reception on the terrace of the hotel. The hotel is an iconic building that has been used in a few films I believe. Location is fantastic on the grand canal. With easy access to the whole of Venice as there is a vapperetto stop right outside the hotel. The staff were exceptional. The good & service great & the rooms are beautiful. We had booked 10 rooms in the hotel with our wedding party - all we... Read more

Amazing hotel! Location is great, the water bus station is next to it immediately, it's on the canal, away from the noise of touristy area, yet close enough to reach all the attractions. The room was amazing Venetian cozy and clean. I had best night sleep! Breakfast on the terrace was heaven! Service was superb! I arrived early morning, they invited me for breakfast until they prepared my room in 20 min! Every night I come back to a comfortable bed with a note from the hotel on weather forecas... Read more

We were delighted with this hotel! The location is ideal for visiting Venice - close enough to the main sites and right on the Grand Canal; but lovely and quiet away from the throngs of tourists. The building itself is stunning, a real architectural gem. Our room (Superior room) was large, comfortable and elegantly furnished. It was wonderful to wake to the view over the Canal. We also enjoyed the breakfast served on the Canal side terrace. The staff were attentive, polite and helpful. An... Read more

Having stayed at several of Venice's most famous hotels, I can tell you this one is absolutely unique. Luxurious immersion in Venice of the past. Our room (#304) was a corner, junior suite looking out at the Grand Canal with its never ending parade of water traffic. Side windows overlooked a smaller canal. The beamed ceilings must have been 15-feet high. The fireplace which reached to the ceiling was 600 years old! Yet, the bathroom featured every 21st century convenience. There's even a ... Read more

Excellent hotel right on the banks of the Canal Grande. We booked a beautiful room overlooking the canal...very Venetian feel, high ceilings...fabulously decorated. Had a bath with whirlpool which didn't work initially but was fixed when reported. Good breakfast served on the terrace beside the canal - beautiful. It's right beside a water boat stop but that was sadly not in use when we stayed...not the hotels fault obviously. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming...room spotlessly clean and... Read more

Palazzo stern is a truely beautiful Palazzo in a city that is full of wonders. Ideally located close to to the Academia area and near the Peggy Guggenheim art collection Palazzo stern also has a vaparetto stop just outside its entrance. The rooms were luxurious and the staff were friendly, polite and extremely helpful. There are restaurants, bars, a campo and atm's all with in a few minutes of the hotel. This in one of the nicest places that I have stayed at in all of Italy. It is one of the... Read more

We came for a three day break. Having had quite a long vaporetto ride from the airport (due to Ca Rezzonico being closed for refurbishment) we were greeted by a charming concierge. He took our details and then told us he was able to upgrade us???. The room was fantastic-spacious with a view of the grand canal, a large bathroom with a huge multi function shower, a coffee machine that emerged at the flick of a switch and a well stocked mini bar! We went back downstairs for a very welcome glass of... Read more

We only stayed here 2 nights but would definitely stay again. The staff are all very pleasant and rooms spotlessly clean. The only negative was the room was far too hot! We opened the window but a cat came in! So had to shut again. The hotel is a good 20 minute walk from St Marks Square but close to lots of restaurants and shops. Breakfast was good and you can order a coffee at anytime and it's complimentary. If getting a private water taxi I strongly recommend that you check with the driver... Read more

We loved this hotel. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and are genuinely happy to help you. Rooms are comfortable and the building is full of quirky architectural and decorative details. The location is fabulous, a perfect combination of being close to all the sights yet peacefully removed from the mayhem of tour groups. It's right beside Ca Rezzonico waterbus stop from which it's a short trip to the Rialto Bridge or Piazza San Marco, and the hotel is only a short walk to Gallerie del... Read more

There are many, many hotels in Venice, but this one is truly unique: it's a beautiful Moorish mini-palace that was originally built as the residence of an art collector and was converted to a boutique hotel in 2008. It's conveniently located next to the Cà Rezzonico vaporetto stop (also served by the Alilaguna boats from the airport) and some of the rooms face the Grand Canal. Our room was an accessible duplex with the double bed upstairs and the bath and a convertible sofa on the lower level... Read more

Our first trip to Venice, I wanted a nice hotel. We couldn't have picked a better one. The perfect location, our French doors opened onto the grand canal. The room was like staying in a palace! High ceilings, chandeliers and the bathroom was amazing. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was a full one each morning. Venice is a walking city, the hotel is located in what we found out is the residential area. We took a tour and was told that. It's quiet and in a nice spot for restau... Read more

We stayed here for two nights before a cruise that departed out of Venice. This is our fourth time in Venice and this hotel was beautiful. It has a great location. Close enough to all the important places you wish to see but not in an area that is too busy and hectic. Staff was very, very good. Friendly, efficient and helpful. We stayed for two nights in November and received an upgrade to a deluxe room on check in. The hotel is a perfect base from which to explore Venice; just far enough from the hustle and bustle but a short walk from the main sights. It was cold and wet when we visited but we still managed to sit on the lovely terrace overlooking the grand canal. The staff are very helpful, the rooms and decor are beautiful and the buffet breakfast has a good choice to suit all tastes. We are hoping to visit Venice... Read more

The location is great - just 30 meters from the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto stop (#1 line from the Piazza Roma car park and the train station). The staff are very helpful and the breakfast is self service and good. We had Aperol Spritz in the bar and enjoyed it. Good selection of restaurants and bars nearby and an easy walk to the Accademia - or the next stop on the #1 if you prefer. The Palazzo Stern is a wonderfully restored residence that is ideally located by the Ca'Rezzonico on the Grand Canal and can be reached directly from the airport using the Alilaguna boat( orange route) in just over an hour. This is an ideal way to arrive -across the lagoon and then via the Cannaregio Canal and Grand Canal.
