Very close to the train station and easy walk to attractions, restaurants, vaporetto stop but by far the best thing about the hotel is the staff - friendly, cheerful funny. Was in an upstairs room and luggage (far too much of it!!!) was delivered quickly and with a smile.

Had an amazing time at this hotel with my girlfriend. Good value, rooms were execlent (we had superior) view wasnt the best but if u want good views go to one newr the canals. Nice restaurant next to the hotel called TRATORIA AL VAGONE. Hotel staff dodnt bother us. Came and went as we pleased. Not kettle in the rooms which is a pain but what ever you want and need the hotel go above and beyond to help. Even had breakfast in a bag on our last day because we was leaving before breakfast started. H... Read more

First off, the hotel is just a few steps away from the train station, like you get out make a left and boom it's in the first alley, so extremely well located, it is also located right next to the water taxis which is pretty much the only mode of transportation in Venice. The hotel staff, also very amazing! They were so nice and answered all of our questions, they also suggested and gave good tips. Being that it was our first time here we didn't know where anything was. The breakfast was also so... Read more

I had been to Venice in 2012 and disliked it so much I tried to talk my daughter out of a visit for our Europe four week adventure. She wouldn't be swayed and I figured sure but this time I am choosing the hotel with my past knowledge. We were staying only one night and leaving by train the next afternoon. The map is deceptive as to the closeness of this hotel to the train station... it was perfect for us :) we arrived by shared transfer and the directions from the boat driver got us exactly to... Stayed the end of May and this hotel is in a great location, very clean and nice breakfast. It is so easy to get to from either the airport or the train. We arrived at the airport, took the bus to the city and walked over the bridge and you come to the train station and the hotel is just down a small alley just past the train. We had a 3 day pass for the boats. We found it so easy to use and get around the islands. Also, you can catch the boat and go one stop and you are back at the bus terminal... Read more

There is nothing bad to say about this hotel really, except for the lack of elevator, which probably can be said to most hotels in Venice. It is relatively close to the train station. It might feel quite a distance if you're dragging your big luggages like we do ( we didn't use porter, although there were few porters offering their service at the train station). The halls towards the rooms, the stairway, the breakfast area and the lobby are all full of history and character which we like. T... Read more

A most lovely hotel with everything you need and want in a Venice visit. Alvise and Matteo at the Front Desk were simply...incredible. We came to Hotel Abbazia after an unfortunate experience elsewhere and were welcomed with open arms. This hotel is a jewel, down a narrow alley in a great area of Venice. Only steps from the train station, vaporettos, wonderful cafes/restaurants and shopping. Very quiet and serene. Breakfast offerings were vast and tasty. Lounge was welcoming and very cozy... We returned to the Abbazia hotel due to our last experience in 2010. We arrived in Venice via airport and had shuttle drop us off at Venezia Tronchetto (bus station) so we could walk across the bridge to train station (hotel around corner) - 5-10min walk, a portion of the bridge has only stairs, so you will need to carry baggage. We were met at the hotel by friendly staff members (Raffele) and appreciated the porter, since there is no lift. Bedroom was a good size and bathroom much improved sinc... Read more

-Hey, did you receive my reply? The bald, smiling man at the reception asked me. I was surprised, before we could bring all our luggage inside he asked me the question. He was referring to my mail that I sent him in the morning before taking the train from Florence. It was a routine question, how to reach the meeting point of our Venice walk and Gondola tour from the hotel. -Whaat! You did not check??? I replied with groggy eyes, just after getting up! He shot back with a wicked smile on his lip... Read more

Convenience to the train station is ideal when you are lugging luggage in Venice. If you had the experience of traversing canals and broken streets with bags late at night, this is the hotel for you. RIGHT beside the train station. From here you can venture out. Many of the tourist areas are further away, so utilize the water buses for convenience. This is a rare hotel in that it is an old abbey, has a courtyard with grass. Our two complaints come with the bathroom and the heat. Our bath c... Read more
