Central location, near St. Mark's Square, friendly staff. Our room was neat and clean, but very noisy at night. The other negative thing is the size of the shower: very very small, though the bathroom itself is pretty big

Our group of 22 Canadian Ladies (average age 63 years fun) booked into this hotel for 3 nights in early May 2016. This hotel was perfectly located between San Marco and the Grand Canal. Walking to the Right takes you straight to Grand Canal; walking to the Left takes you straight to San Marco. Easy as Pie. Initially Venice can feel overwhelming so it's nice to have this hotel as a starting place. There is a lot of restaurants and shopping within seconds of the hotel so you can be totally sa... Two days in this hotel was enough to drive us stir crazy. VERY small! The staff members were not very friendly. It was like they would rather be doing ANYTHING but helping you. No smiles at all! Yes, it was right in the middle of Venice but, I would rather have stayed somewhere else. This was the only hotel in Italy (we stayed in five) that was not up to our expectations. Live and learn.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Gorizia . It is perfectly positioned for sightseeing and was easy to find. We flew with Ryanair to Treviso , took the airport bus to Piazzale Roma then took the Waterbus to Rialto 2. From Rialto 2 ,turn right ,walk over a little bridge then a few yards along is an alleyway with a Yellow sign Per S Marco. Walk along the alleyway about 200 yards and the hotel is just before a bridge on your left hand side. The hotel is clean , the staff very... Read more

Very nice hotel right in the middle of Venice. Had a very nice time. The staff were business like without being that friendly & as mentioned previously the breakfast room was small particularly at busy times. But we enjoyed our stay as it was so near all the attractions.

Our stay in this hotel was absolutely wonderful in a very good location and a very friendly staff. The staff, specially Mario at the reception, was vey helpful and gave us many suggestions about restaurants and places to visit.

Great location - just a few minutes from St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. Friendly and attentive staff - they provided extra pillows, and gave us directions to restaurants we were interested in. We opted for the room with the balcony, it gave us a nice place to relax with a snack or wine at the end of the day's sightseeing. The view of the bell tower all lit up at night was a bonus. The daily breakfast had quite a variety of foods and gave us a good start for the day's outings.

Once you realise that getting lost while dragging your case between multiple meandering tour groups is part of the Venice "experience", you can relax. The hotel is adequate for a couple of nights although we found sharing a quadruple room with two teenage sons was about the limit of our endurance. The hotel is well-positioned between San Marco and Rialto, and surrounded by restaurants. The breakfast room is (as other reviewers have remarked) indeed small but the hotel pre-dates mass 21st century... Read more

Leaving today after a weekend break. Strangely my second visit and same room which was very hot and air con didn't relieve the problem. Room 48. Loved hearing the church bells in the morning and I found hotel easily as you get off by Rialto bridge. I took hand luggage ( no wheels!) much easier to get round. Loved Florian's for coffee and had to be done. Also a must a Bellini in Hotel Daneli. Staff were friendly and helpful getting me a taxi booked for airport as the buses were heaving and wate... This is the second time we have stayed at the Gorizia. The hotel location is ideal...a short walk [all on the level] from Rialto water bus stop and in the opposite direction to St Mark's square. Get orange line water bus from airport to Rialto...much easier than going to St Mark's steps / bridges to lug cases up. All staff were very helpful particularly Mario. We stayed in Room 66. Room was comfortable and a fair size. Bathroom was roomy - no shower curtain but staff gave us extra... Read more

You get what you pay for with this hotel. If you have more finances in your budget I would advise to stay somewhere else, there are many hotels in Venice. Pros- Pretty decent location to St. Mark's Square- less than 10 minute walk. Our room AC worked pretty well which we were grateful for because that is not always the case in Europe. Cons- Breakfast is was not good at all but again you get what you pay for here. The entire hotel was old and felt very dirty including everything in our room. O... Read more

Very rude employees. Our flight got cancelled due to a strike in Italy and they refused to refund us eventhough it wasn't our fault. Just avoid this hotel. The other couples also encountered a rude behaviour asking for a refund.

This was our first time staying at Gorizia and really enjoyed it. The hotel is ideally located in San Marco. 5 min from san marco water taxi to the south and 5 from rialto to the north with plenty of restaurants and shopping along the way. The continental breakfast offered was good and satisfying, I would suggest getting there first thing in the morning because space is limited. The hotel itself is done in traditional venecian decor and older. This was not a problem for us but if you're looking ... Read more

The hotel is very well located in between San Marco square and Rialto bridge. We were in room 62, which was beautifully designed but there were two twin bed pushed together to make a double bed. The breakfast was included in the rate and was good. We recommend this hotel if you are on a budget.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip to Italy. The location is great, and our room was clean and comfortable. Keeping in mind that Venice is expensive in general, the hotel was good value. The AC was reliable, as was the free wifi. The mini-bar prices were comparable to the prices at nearby stores (and the fridge had a bit of room to spare for our provisions). While small by North American standards, the bathroom was the largest we have encountered in Italy. The br... Read more

We stayed in Venice for a week and found this hotel well suited to our needs. It's clean, provides an ok breakfast, and is perfectly situated in Venice. The staff reception was mixed, sometimes a little rude. However, the female reception staff member was remarkably friendly which is a rare commodity in Venice. -Tip, take the waterbus to and from the airport, not the regular bus or you will have a lot of walking to do.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are small indeed and the bathroom reminds me of a cruise ship cabin bathroom, but this is normal for Venice, Italy. The staff was very friendly and our room was cleaned daily. Continental Breakfast was served every morning and really helped out in getting a good start to our day. The location was ideal, just outside of the square, so you avoid the tourist prices and noise, but close enough to walk there in 10 minutes. Also, several rest... Read more

Hotel easy to find from either Rialto or San Marco vaporetto stops. I think only one set of stairs over a canal, to drag your luggage over. 5 mins max from either stops, very central. Excellent Wifi in the room and lobby. Comp continental cold breakfast, very fresh and enough choices. Nice superior room, very traditional furniture, and a bit larger than standard room choice, worth the extra few dollars. You really feel like you're in Venice, and not a big chain hotel. The room looked redone, wit... Read more

We stayed for four nights. The room was decorated very nicely and the beds comfortable and clean. Bathroom was a little small but adequate. No English in room. The hotel is halfway between Rialto and San Marco, very good location. The reception staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast is continental style, but great choice and loads of it. The room though can become overcrowded. The one downside to a room at the front is that the street becomes noisy and active from after six or so in... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. The location is excellent, 2 minutes walk from Rialto and 5 minutes from St Mark's Square. The room was decorated in typical Italian style and was plenty large enough. Breakfast was sufficient with quite a good choice although the dining room can get a little crowded. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, even printing off timetables etc when we asked. There is a restaurant next door (Nuova Valigia) where we ate a couple of times and the food was ... We thoroughly enjoyed our break at Gorizia. The location was fantastic, equidistant from Rialto and St Mark's Square. Traditional decor and a very friendly atmosphere, the reception staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

Great location to get to the sights. Helpful staff, good clean room, breakfast buffet ok. No kettle ,and tv all Italian( no surprise there). Still, you'll not be in the room long enough. If you're a light sleeper, the church bells start 7am, nerve mind, you'll get used to them! Oh and the music from the restaurant next door!

As a first time visitor to Venice and as a senior, I chose this hotel based on the location (including ease of arriving with luggage - no bridges) and the price - reasonable for Venice. It was a ten minute walk either way to the Rialto Bridge, a great area for dining and shopping, or to San Marco Square, with wonderful sights. Also, each of those areas is a main stop on the water bus route so could get to anywhere from there. The hotel was fine, but not memorable. The staff were very helpful... Read more
