We had booked this hotel for a five night stay in Venice, the hotel is well situated, just two minutes walk from San Marco Basilica and five minutes from the San Marco ferry terminal. Our room was small, not at all like the ones shown in the promotions. Breakfast was the usual cold meats and cheese, buns, pastries, cereals etc. Scrambled egg and bacon were also available. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would rate this hotel as three star and not four star as advertised.

Stayed here for 3 nights as a couples weekend in Mid January, we arrived late on the first evening and catching the public boat from the airport to the San Marco stop we found the hotel a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is very presentable and reception staff were helpful and took our suitcase up to the room. We stayed in one the junior suite rooms, it was extremely spacious and well furnished, bathroom was clean and had both a shower and bath. Only negative of the room was that the double bed ... We visited 7th Feb for 4 days. The hotel was difficult to find and the reception was fairly small with shabby decor and threadbare carpets. Our room was spectacular and exactly what was shown in the pictures. It looked onto the canal and we could see the gondolas going by. Our room opened directly onto the dining area which was a bit odd. The bar was closed all the time which was annoying. We ordered room service one night and it came from the restaurant next to the hotel. Apparently the h... Read more

Stayed here in Oct. 2015. Very charming hotel, located off of St. Mark's Square. Arrived by boat to a charming patio area. Room was large and comfortable. Nicely appointed bathroom. Breakfast was exceed our expectation. We would definitely stay there again.

Service was excellent, the rooms were well priced for their location, and very comfortable and BIG! We comfortably fit myself, my wife and my young son with ample space for all of us. The location, right behind Piazza San Marco, is hard to beat for ease of transport.

This hotel was a gorgeous little find super close to San Marco square, with lots of restaurants on the doorstep you are spoiled for choice. Easy and practical base to explore this gorgeous city from by foot, boat or gondola even! The staff was friendly and accommodating.

This was the final hotel we stayed in for our final night in Italy before flying home. We had a junior suite and it certainly lived up to expectation. The room was lovely, being incredibly spacious, with comfortable beds and a great whirlpool bath, and a breathtaking view of the canal. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very nice. They even served Prosecco which was quite the novelty for a Brit. Their terrace was also lovely, although it's a shame their bar was closed dur... Read more

We stayed at the Dona Palace for 3 nights in late Sept 2016 and it was a very pleasant experience. The location could not be better, less than a 100 m from San Marco Plaza and Basilica, which gave us the opportunity to be there any time of the day or the night we wanted as well as easy access to transportation by Vaporetto or water taxi. It was also a reasonably quiet place. The staff was extremely helpful monitoring our lost luggage (a "gift" from the usually incompetent and arrogant Alitalia).... Read more

The hotel is conveniently located just of the St. Marco Plaza, within easy walking distance of all major attractions. We understand the hotel had just re-opened after a change in ownership. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful arranging bookings and transport at any time of day or night. The room we had was spacious and well maintained and had a nice view of one of the smaller canals. Both hotel and staff radiated welcome.

Stayed here for a long weekend in October and have to say we were delighted with the service from the start. They sorted out and arranged our transportation from the airport in Venice direct to the hotel, thank goodness we paid the extra for them to do this as traipsing around venice with our suitcase trying to find the hotel would have been stressful. The reception staff (Rafaell especially) were extremely helpful, informative and very friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location to all the mai... Read more

I recently stayed at Hotel Dona Palace by myself for one night during October. The hotel is in a fantastic location: tucked away down a little street, you can find yourself in the bustle of San Marco in moments. The hotel itself is small but a true gem. They have their own private peaceful courtyard which overlooks the canal so you can watch the gondolas go by and the dining room is a very impressive sight to see. The rooms are equally impressive. I stayed in Room 14 which is one of their luxur... Read more

Great staff, beautiful building, good accommodations and perfectly located. It's not a modern place, but this is what you expect when stay in the islands. Stay in Piazza di San Marco it's what you need to know Venice easily. Good breakfast. Great Giardino!

Just finished our stay and we are very happy with this hotel. Wi-fi was free and worked well in our room. There was a great variety of foods for the free breakfast. As previous reviewers have advised the hotel is hard to find but the instructions on the website was helpful. Best to arrive during daylight hours as it would be quite difficult to find in the dark. Location is super and a convenient location for transfers to the airport and the cruise terminal.
