We stayed here 2 nights: the night before our 7 night cruise and the night after. I corresponded with Monic Denti and Anna Sozykina a week or so before our arrival about the shuttle service, nearby restaurants, and a laundry room. They were quick to respond and answered my questions. We ended up not needing to do laundry so I never checked out the facilities. We were tired on arrival and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant (see my TripAdvisor review separately for that), but the shuttle turned out to be well worth it. The bus to/from the airport was 8‚?¨ per person plus you had to maneuver your luggage to and from the bus stop, but the shuttle was 14‚?¨ per group, which included personal service as well. On the morning of our arrival before we had left England, I was unable to check in on-line due to a glitch in the Hilton system so I contacted the hotel and was promised the end room on the top floor that I couldn‚??t reserve even though it was available per the map. I received a prompt response, from Anna I believe, and when we arrived about 7 pm (19h), that room was waiting for us. On our very early arrival a week later after our cruise at about 9 am, we were told by a snippy young guy that our room would not be ready for hours! After I calmed down and cooled off after the hike, tram ride, and bus ride from the ship, I approached the desk about 30 minutes later and spoke to a much more pleasant young lady (did not get her name, sorry) and explained our situation. She had us in a room in less than 30 minutes. As Diamond members, I expect some preferential treatment and not rudeness at the check-in desk! The second time we were on the 5th floor near the ice machine, which do have ice but not usually enough to fill the bucket. The rooms were identical except for the view and location. Each room had a king sized bed with an available outlet on each side for our personal use. There was a chair with a small table plus a desk. The television received about 200 channels, 90% or so in Italian, of course, but some international channels in various languages including BBC and CNN. There was a safe in the closet. The bathroom was tidy and had a sink, toilet, tub with shower, and a bidet? The only issue I had was that one could not run a bath without stepping in the tub since the controls were at the far end and out of reach. There was a half fixed wall and not a flexible partition on that end. The room was very efficient and must have been German design! The view from the first room was to the northwest and was the area around the hotel, but the view from the second room was the lovely pool and the area around it! The room was a TripAdvisor 5 rating. One weird thing was that the elevators did not have an up/down button, just one button so it was a 50/50 chance if the elevator was going in the right direction when it stopped so many people rode to the top and the back down! The breakfast, which we receive complimentary as Diamond members, was not up to par with other Hilton Garden Inns, such as Stuttgart, or really anywhere else. The eggs on the buffet were not the best, the bacon looked brown, the pastries were ok, but, I‚??ve seen better continental breakfast offerings at cheap no-brand motels in the US. They did make an omelet to order but used the cheese from the buffet. When we had dinner, I asked for tap water and was told it was unsafe, but they had a pitcher of it on the breakfast buffet next to the pitchers of juice. I found the restaurant management a little suspicious, (i.e. the water issue) plus they tried to overcharge us on our second dinner visit when we just wanted an appetizer only. On my 2nd visit, I also noticed the ‚??canteen‚?? where they sell drinks, frozen dinners, etc. plus wine and beer. We would have bought our wine here the 1st time instead of paying the high prices in the restaurant for extra bottles to take back to the room? We had enough wine on the cruise and passed on the second visit-just Coke Zero and water. I also wondered if some of the dishes served in the restaurant were reheated microwave packages. All of the non-restaurant staff except for the one guy on our 2nd arrival were very pleasant and helpful! The 2 bathrooms in the lobby were both very clean. We didn‚??t use the pool, but it looked nice and clean. The only negative was that there was a smoking area outside of the restaurant and probably also by the pool! In summary, if we do another cruise out of Venice, this would be our top choice. The airport shuttle, the efficient design of the rooms, and the mostly friendly staff make this a winner. I am giving a 4 because of the breakfast and the indifferent front desk person.
Footnote: Even though the hotel doesn‚??t have total control over the situation, the elevators in the overhead passage by the bus stops do not WORK. This was no issue going to Venice, but on return, we had to carry our heavy bags up the stairs, across the bridge, and down the stairs. This would also be a major issue for someone in a wheelchair!
