The pluses: (1) Great views, on the side of a mountain, if your room is high enough (avoid the first few floors) and especially if you are on the right side of the elevator; (2) excellent location (the short steep staircase to the town would be an issue for those with disabilities) near the center of town but with the advantage of quiet; (3) we booked a Junior Suite (room 503) - quite large, with an excellent bathroom (separate rainshower and tub, nicely tiled, double sink); (4) very good (but n... I have to say this is not a great looking hotel and we only stayed here because the sister hotel's refurb had overrun. When I saw the pictures of the outside of the hotel it reminded me of a multi-storey carpark. However 'don't judge a book by it's cover' is very true here. Inside it is really nice, the setting and views are amazing and the staff are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel's location w/walking distance to the city center. -great!!!!! We've got nice Room size, spacious balcony with a lovely view. it's not a new and modern hotel BUT, refurbished about 15 years ago and retains its authenticity. Excellent breakfast with a large selection. I would be happy to recommend the hotel to my family and friends

Location: We stayed at the Monte Tauro Hotel based on a family recommendation. We looked at a lot of hotels in the area but chose this based on its great location and pool facilities. As Taormina is on the side of a hill/cliff down to the sea it was recommended that we stay up near the town as other hotels on the sea front are quite a hike up to the town (by cable car I believe). The Monte Tauro provides the best of both, beautiful views of the sea with a pool to lounge by and within a 2 minute ... Read more

Me and my husband have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Hotel Monte Tauro. Beautiful location. Nice large clean rooms. Friendly staff. Very close to town with lots of great restaurants and shops. I have never written a hotel review before but felt I had to say how wonderful our stay was. The terrace was the highlight, where we had breakfast and evening meals ( local takeaway pizza from Pizzeria Villa Zuccaro!) I booked this hotel for its location. It was quite pricey but that's ok. That said, when I pay this much money for a hotel I expect top notch services. The room was very comfortable, bathroom spacious and breakfast good. We had a terrace balcony overlooking the sea. The floor of the outdoor terrace was dirty, they could have cleaned it before we arrived. What irritated me the most was the Internet access WiFi and LAN, IT WAS HORRIBLE. For the price we paid I expected a lot better. The r... Read more

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it was equally as good as the first. Rooms are very large and the views are amazing. If you love a good breakfast you will not be disappointed. Just one tip - if you are driving, I suggest you park the car at the top of the hotel enterence and get the hotel staff to park it for you. The hotel has a very steep and narrow driveway.

Look no further! You have found the best hotel to stay in with a great pool and magnificent room view! The breakfast in the morning has a huge variety of food but the muffins deserve a special mention! They are the best muffins I have ever had! The hotel rooms are not huge but were sufficient as you will not be spending a lot of time indoors. Taormi a offers great food and tourist attractions!

Let's start with a couple of flaws: Sicily was experiencing the coldest May on record and the hotel already changed their climate control from heat to air conditioning. My room was at the far end of the 4th floor where no sunshine penetrated the forested hillside. Not that there was much sun, it rained every day of my 3-day stay. My room remained cold and damp. Hotel Monte Tauro cannot control the weather conditions. When it can control a problem, the fix is immediate. When I checked in, ... Read more

The reason why i think this is not a 4star is because the rooms are a little dated. The bathroom is in need of modernisation. The shower is in the bath, which would be fine if the shower screen moved but it didn't so made getting in an out quite difficult. the space was quite narrow and my husband being 6ft found if difficult to turn around. We loved this place, staying for 9 nights in October 2016. Blessed with fantastic weather we made much use of the pool terrace, enjoyed the views both from here and the breakfast room. The hotel is built into the side of the cliff and hs aslightly quirky feel with modernist styling and architecture that we loved.Concrete can be really cool! What makes it really special are the staff who are just wonderful, you would never have guessed they were coming to the end of a long busy season. So friendl... Read more

The hotel is on eight floors starting with reception and ending in a lovely pool. Because it clings to the slope all rooms have a sea view and balcony. Everything is good quality, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet very good. The staff are very friendly and attentive. There is parking at 10‚?¨ per night, but you need help from the staff to get your car up and down the steep access. For a less stressful holiday don't bother with a car as the roads are desperately narrow an windy.

The service, staff, facilities and amenities are excellent. The driveway leading to the town is steep so good walking shoes are imperative. There is car service to take one to the top of the driveway, though we never used it. Pay the extra amount and select a room with a view to the sea. Its worth it. Breakfasts were superb.

It has a classic modernist aesthetic and some striking features, such as the rounded sea-facing terraces built in off-form concrete. However, I'm not sure the management are making the most of this hotel and its striking location. There is a Fa... Read more

Great hotel, with spectacular views of Giardini Naxos and Mt Etna. We booked the Junior Suite which was very spacious, comfortable and well-designed. Reception service was impeccable. Building itself has some great aesthetics.
