We arrived in Sicily, rented a car, and drove to Hotel Villa Ducale for a three-night stay. We stayed in Room 23, which had a lovely balcony with elegant lounge chairs. The attention to detail of this hotel and the panaramic view of Taormina and Mt. Etna is impressive. The breakfast selections were incredible and generously offered to include pine nuts for your yogurt topping or to compliment the freshly prepared vegetables, my favorite being eggplant, prepared two different ways, along with co... Hotel Villa Ducale, how to achieve excellence Just returned home after a long stay at the Hotel Villa Ducale. Having stayed there for 12 nights you would expect to notice any issues or concerns, but there were none. The hotel excels and achieves extremely high standards. We have stayed at many hotels in various countries and we can say without reservation that this is the best. Villa Ducale is our new yard stick by which we will compare others, however we do not expect any others to reach the Du... Read more

Villa Ducale is simply the best hotel, bar none, in Taormina. It ticks all the boxes: Friendly and helpful staff Relaxed atmosphere yet highly professional and attentive service Stunning views Beautifully designed and furnished, meticulously maintained Lovely rooms with every facility one would wish for Truly excellent food To cap it all, it is very reasonably priced - a fraction of the cost of the most expensive hotel in Taormina (at which we've stayed twice) but we rate it as good or better in... My husband and I have just returned from a month-long trip to Europe, filled with activity. But we couldn't be in Italy without visiting, for the third time, the beautiful Villa Ducale. The amazing staff manage to make every guest feel as if we were dear friends, and our comfort the highest priority. The location of the hotel is spectacular, the ambiance luxurious without a trace of stuffiness, the food exquisite (and equally important, the chefs take special care of my gluten-free diet), the ... The hotel is great. Very clean, large and updated. Food is excellent, there is a bar available inside and a complete breakfast is included. The staff is friendlier then just about anywhere we have stayed. It is a 15-20min walk to the main piazza/shopping or they will arrange a free shuttle. Although thr walk is not easy, it is very scenic and uses paths/stairways between homes and old buildings - it was one of my favorite things to do in Taormina. I would stay here again.

This is one of the prettiest hotels in Taormina, fantastic views and very thoughtful service. We took the villa (highly recommended!) where you get your own space for sitting out in the evenings and had a drink. Lots of stone stairs so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems or young kids who run around a lot! Complementary bottled water and snacks are a lovely touch. Wonderful breakfasts. Only issue we had was the fish and some of the meals at dinner. The fish tasted defrosted and..... Read more

Villa Ducale should probably be classified under "Things To Do" in Taormina rather than "Hotels" as it is one of those rare hotels that is a destination in its own right. We booked here after reading the reviews on TA and although it's not inexpensive, it was worth every cent. We spent our last two nights here after a five week tour of Italy to celebrate my 60th and it was the ideal way to finish our trip. I can't say enough about Paolo - truly helpful. Drive up the hill is harrowing. Do it once and park the car. We will be back.

We stayed at the Villa Ducale for 12 nights over July/August 2016 and we really couldn't fault anything. We had what was described as a "superior double room" on a B & B basis. This was not the largest or the most luxurious room which Villa Ducale has to offer, but it was very well appointed and a long way beyond adequate. We had air conditioning (absolutely essential), shower and jacuzzi, bidet, room safe, good lighting and a comfortable bed. There was also a TV but we never once turned this ... Read more

Where to start is quite difficult! Everything about this small boutique hotel was perfect. The view of Etna was wonderful by day and by night. A free shuttle to the town ,wonderful toiletry products and our room was quite amazing with a view of Etna from our balcony. The food was of a very high standard and wonderful chef Leo made gluten free Bruscheta just for me. The facilities in,the hotel were marvellous with very very helpful and friendly staff. After having read many reviews on Tripadvisor, we thought that the service would be very good here, but we did not understand just how much better Villa Duccale treats its clients than do most other hotels. Virtually everyone goes out of their way to make your experience special, and special needs are always addressed. In fact most of the staff actively inquire whether or not there's anything particular you need. Yes the views are beautiful, and yes the restaurant has a stunning view. Many of th... Read more

Villa Ducale is close to the top of the hilltop in Taormina. It means the drive up and down is a little daunting in the narrow roads, but the view once you get to the hotel is amazing. We stayed here at the end of our honeymoon in Sicily. The staff are, without exception, very friendly, professional and helpful. They talk you through the area, the services and provide a free shuttle down into the town and also to the beach. The main thing that draws your attention once you reach the hotel is t... Read more

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in our Deluxe Suite, suggested over the phone when we cold called to check if there was availability by a very helpful Martina at Villa Ducale. We checked in with our 10 year old daughter, and the staff were very polite, professional and the service was excellent. The house keeping was immaculate. The morning breakfast was excellent as was the complimentary evening tea & evening tapas sampler. The staff were extremely helpful about any queries and were ready to he... Read more

Everything was excellent here. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely view, excellent food. It's worth mentioning, if you don't already know Taormina, that the Villa Ducale is high up above the town. It's very nice to be up and away from the activity of the town, but also means that you need to plan your trips up and down. Would love to stay here again.

I returned yesterday from a week's holiday at the Villa Ducale, a trip I have wanted to make ever since first reading the amazing reviews a few years ago. I expected it to be fantastic and I was not disappointed. My high expectations were exceeded in every way. As so many reviewers have said before, the incredible staff, every single one of them, go out of their way to ensure your holiday is as perfect as they can make it. This meant so much to me, travelling abroad on my own for the first time... Read more

Stayed 2 nights when we first arrived and loved this hotel- fantastic decor and accommodations, our room had a sea view from our terrace. We were three with our teenage son and the separation between the bedroom and common room where a comfortable bed was set up was perfect for all. The dining terrace is gorgeous for breakfast with views of Taormina and Mount Etna with the sea. At night, for cocktails or dinner, the lights twinkle beautifully. We stayed here for one nights stay and we really wish we had booked for longer in order to enjoy this beautiful hotel! We were welcomed with refreshments and invited to sit and look out at the most amazing view. We stayed in that night to sample the delicious food from the hotel restaurant which was wonderful. We then enjoyed our remaining wine sitting on our private terrance looking out at the lights of the bay. It was a dream stay. Only down side is they charge you to park your car on site, bu... First time to Taormina. Hope to come back on another trip to Italy. Not enough time to see everything. Scenery from Villa Ducale was phenomenal. Staff exceptional they could not do enough. I will always remember the view at breakfast now when I'm back at home having my breakfast with the view of the back yard. LOL. ??? But that's what makes holidays so special.

We had a wonderful stay in this hillside hotel. The accommodation was beautiful & very comfortable. The view from our room took in Taormina the coast & Mount Etna which was breathtaking. With the same view from the balcony restaurant, the food served was excellent and plentiful. All the staff were attentive and professional, friendly and very helpful. It was everything we hoped for and we hope to return one day!

We recently stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a trip around Sicily. The hotel is located above Taormina (5 min shuttle ride from the town center) or a 15-20 min walk on the stairs. We enjoyed staying above the town (more quiet and removed) and the views are stunning. We stayed in a suite that was located across the street from the lobby and did not mind the seperation at all (some of the rooms, including the jacuzzi are located in this section of the hotel). From the wonderful and warm staff to the comfortable accommodations and amazing views, I must say this is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The breakfast is fabulous and plentiful. If you have read any of the many excellent reviews about this hotel you might find it hard to believe that such a place exists. Let me assure you that Villa Ducale deserves every one of it's five star reviews. My husband and I had a seven night stay at the hotel commencing 2nd September 2016. We had visited previously in 2012 and promised ourselves that if we ever returned to Taormina we could only ever also return to Villa Ducale. Since our last stay the hotel has been completely updated and mo... Read more

Staying at this hotel is more than just a stay, it is an experience. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave everything is perfect in every way. I cannot add to any of the other fabulous reviews I can only reiterate what has been said. The room, the service, the staff, the food, the view.......all absolutely perfect. I have no idea how we are going to be able to stay in any other hotel in the future as Villa Ducale had set the bar so high.

The boutique hotel is located high above old Taormina. The staff including Santi could not do enough for us including pre and post visit requests. They kindly arranged our onward journey and offered a shuttle to and from the old centre. The hotel is very friendly offering afternoon teas and drinks on their spectacular deck. Obviously returning guests are treated like family. I would definitely return .

This small boutique hotel has grand views, high standards, great rooms with super views, and food and warm responsive customer service. We stayed 3 nights and wish we would have had more time relaxing. From it's lofty perch, we can admire Etna, watch ships coming into port and see down the coast well beyond Catania. Absolutely nothing to fault. The most beautiful views, a really intimate, beautifully designed space, goregous food and, the icing on the cake? The best staff EVER. Santi, Martina, they were all absolutely lovely, made us very pleased indeed that we'd opted for an exclusive boutique hotel rather than one of the bigger, more obviously 'showy' hotels. It was a truly special experience, made that much more special by the personal attention to detail and courtesy
