The location for visiting the ruins can not be faulted. A bit too far away from any real restaurants. The service was a bit hit and miss. We had some really good service and at other times a bit lacking. Breakfast was served on the 6th floor with stunning views and the selection was absolutely excellent. Unfortunately the roof top restaurant wasn't open for dinner the nights we were there. Rooms were very good a little small but definitely adequate and clean. Also had a kettle to enable you to b... Booked this as it was close to the Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre and indeed you couldn't be closer. It's what you would expect from a 'chain' modern hotel you could expect to find at an airport. The basic room was comfortable yet small, quiet with ours being a room at the back, good rooftop bar and pool area and helpful staff. Parking easy either in the open for free or in a locked up garage. Lacks any good restaurants nearby. The hotel restaurant was catering to a large group with a set ... Read more

Stay here for one night. Good clean rooms. First stayed in single occupancy which was small and later shifted to double occupancy room. The best selling point is roof top Restaurent which offers good food and stunning view . The swimming pool is small but clean and effective. Overall a good comfortable stay. Limited food options and no food options at all between 12-5 pm is a let down. Average breakfast as well.

Standard city hotel - rooms were clean but basic and suitable for a stop-over or on the way to local attractions, but not the place to stay for a holiday in paradise! The staff were polite and courteous.

I got caught booking this hotel on a 'pay now, no refund basis' (pushed the wrong button). We were told on the booking form there would be a Euro 5 per hour wi-fi charge but in fact it was free. Rather strange. This hotel has the advantage of being close to the Archeological Park but unless you are really into archaeology what Syracuse has is very disappointing. Syracuse is great for its island appendage of Ortygia but this is too far away from the hotel for a comfortable walk. Ortygia is acces... Read more

This hotel is well appointed, great value and has on-site parking. Just across the road from the Teatro Greco and about a mile into Ortigia (there is a bus or a taxi). Spotlessly clean, comfortable and with good breakfast available. There is a roof top bar and pool with great views.

Just spent one night but was very pleased. Arriving late in the afternoon took immediate advantage of safe free parking and a great rooftop swimming pool with a view of the archeological site. The room had everything one needs. Breakfast is not free but there is a basic option of coffee and croissant for 5 euros (accross the street the same is half the cost). Wi-Fi is free. Reception is helpful. The old town is about a one mile walk. Would not hesitate to return.

I just spent one night at this hotel on a business trip. It is a modern hotel with recently refurbished rooms. ..the breakfast room is on the 6th floor with nice views. There is a good sized pool on the same floor for those who want to have a dip. Breakfast was quite good with many options available. The staff was nice and helpful all though check in and check out.

A Mercure city hotel with good perspective to become even better.Slept five nights in a very nice atmosphere by bed mattress(booked a double bed and the room had two single beds !!!) temperatures but with enough noise from the other rooms (rather do noise wooden floor !!!). The neighborhood is good for walking in the city center about 20 minutes,40 minutes to Ortygia, 3-5 minutes to the archaeological site next to the hotel. On the roof there is a small but good pool for a dip and a bar for a sn... Positives:good breakfast choice, including the ability to ask for gluten free stuff, lovely shower, comfy beds, lovely staff, great location for the Greek theatre, lovely rooftop pool and terrace Negatives:no duvets in the room on checkin (this is probably for the heat, but would have been nice to have been given one that we could choose not to use), the rooftop pool is quite small and could do with more sun loungers, small and narrow hotel carpark (not good for large cars) and a drive/taxi fro... Fine hotel with lovely staff. It is a little outside of town needing the number two bus around the corner of the hotel (?1) to travel into Siracusa town. Buses finish during the week at ten? so a taxi will cost you ?15. You could walk it but its about 20 minutes. The hotel needs a few little extra touches to bring it to the next level. Beautiful pool on the top floor with some lovely views. Parking was free which is a nice bonus. Had one of the best breakfasts in a hotel, fantastic. Generall... Read more

I am a fan of the Accor hotels as you know what to expect, and this Mercure did not disappoint me. It is located just opposite the archaeological park in Siracusa, a 5 min drive(or 30 min walk) from Ortigia. There is free car park and amenities close by. The room was clean, service was good, there is a nice pool at the roof top and also a small bar/restaurant by the pool. It was nice to sit outside with a glass of wine after walking around in the heat all day. Staff was friendly and good in pro... Read more

The hotel Mercure has parking facilities and is easy to find with GPS. Our room was comfortable, clean and large enough for the two of us with luggage. Bathroom a good size. Again as in most hotels there were not enough coat hangers or drawers to unpack. The coffee and tea making facilities were good but spoilt by the polystyrene cups provided. Breakfast was substantial and there was a choice to sit outside if you chose. The staff were friendly and helpful and the general atmosphere of the... Read more

The hotel was good, rooms were comfortable and big enough. Airco was working well. Breakfast was mainly sweet (which is fine because it is Italy), the choice was good, only the constant queue to the coffee maschine... Nice swimming pool where you can always find a spot to sit or lay down. It was very handy that the hotel has a free parking but unfortunately for us it was always full, so we needed to park the car on the street. It is 20-25 min walk to Ortigia, which was very fine with us.

We stayed here on our first night on a tour of Sicily. The rooms are a good size and well appointed. They have tea and coffee making facilities, with a good bathroom and air-conditioning. It is located just opposite the Archaeological Park of Neapolis and is 30 minute walk to wonderful island of Ortigia. We decided to get a taxi (which the hotel organised), rather than walk to Ortigia. There was a good choice at breakfast and a rooftop pool, which also has a bar. This was one of the bes... Read more

Arrived a couple of days ago and the hotel is quite nice. The rooms are large and modern. The bathroom is let down by not having a seperate shower and the water pressure is a bit low. The breakfast buffet is adequate. The only hot food is sausage bacon and scrambled eggs. The have an ironing room and a gym which is handy. The hotel is opposite the archaeological site which we have still to visit. About 1.5 km walk to the old town and took around 30 mins. Lovely sitting in the main piazza in an ... Read more

We recently stayed here one night on our way out of Siracusa. The front desk staff gave us a very warm welcome, and were extremely pleasant to deal with the entire time we were there (not always the case in Sicily). The hotel was very clean, and the breakfast buffet was great too! The roof top pool wasn't as large as the photos will lead you to believe, but it was very refreshing after a day of walking in the hot sun, and the roof top terrace gives great views over the archeological park. Stayed at the Mercure as part of an Easyjet package. A bit on the edge of the city centre, but the bus from Catania stops nearby and it isn't too far to walk to tho old part (we did it several times!). Excellent desk staff, good size rooms and a good breakfast. Rooftop pool would be great in the summer, but good views any time. Nice bakery/cafe just round the corner, shame we didn't discover it until our last day.

The Mercure is about 5 minutes walk from the entrance to the Archaeological Park, our main reason for visiting Siracusa. We walked down to Ortygia and back - about half and hour each way. The hotel itself is clean and welcoming with a secure car park. The unheated small rooftop pool must be very welcoming in the summer but we gave it a miss on our November visit. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about Siracusa and made recommendations for places to visit for the rest o... Read more
