We stayed here as it was a quick drive and distance from the airport, situated on the outskirts, fairly easy to find and it was even signposted in the city when we got lost, which helped. Car Park was large and free, another plus. Arrived early afternoon and went straight to look around Ortigia for the day and evening. The hotel is extremely grand, set in pleasant grounds and approximately 30 minutes walk from Ortigia. We noticed people sunbathing at the lovely outside Pool. Reception staff were... Read more

We stayed in 'standard' double rooms on the second floor. They were large rooms with parquet wood floors and ensuite bathrooms sporting marble vanity units, so very traditional in style. The price we paid in the off season meant that I expected to be allocated rooms at the back without balconies and indeed it was so, however I hadn't anticipated that we wouldn't be able to open the shutters of one of them (238) because they swung out at floor level onto a fire escape, (giving access to the roo... We had a wonderful stay at this decent, elegant hotel. The staff was extremely polite! Our room was ok, no comlplaint considering the off-season price. It was a bit cold in the room, but couldn't heat with the air conditioning. I was offered another blanket at the reception.

This is an old villa with a grand entrance offering the promise of old world charm. The room we had was very cosy, not much room to move, but that can be overlooked for one night. The swimming pool looks amazing and having tea or coffee on the verandah overlooking the entrance is a relaxing treat. The grounds are neat and tidy with pretty gardens. What lets the hotel down is the casual manner of the restaurant and bar staff which does not match the professionalism of the reception staff nor th... Read more

Returned last week from Siracusa having spent a week at the Villa Politi. We are not in the habit of retracing our holiday steps as there is so much of the world we want to see, but if we were we would certainly stay here again. The staff were lovely and so was the breakfast. Don't miss out on "happy hour" - for a mere seven euros we had a generous cocktail and appetisers. We don't know how they do it for the price.(Christiano we hope you enjoyed your day off as you certainly worked very hard)!!... Read more

This old hotel oozes old fashioned charm and it is easy to imagine its grandeur in its heyday. It is set in pretty gardens on the edge of an ancient quarry and there is plenty of parking. The room was very comfortable with a view of the sea in the distance, The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the pool and surrounds are a lovely place to relax after a hard day's sight-seeing. Breakfast was good and we ate in the excellent restaurant twice.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Entrance and lobby is very elegant, and the rooms are large. The bathroom was very old and not refurbished since it was built. An electrical wire was dangling in the shower and the shower holder was broken. Also the drain in the shower was stuffed so the bathroom got fludded with water. The pool area was a disapointment, very old and abandoned with old used chairs etc. It also smelled with catpis by the hotel entrance to the pool area, they did try to clean it away D... Read more

Villa Politi is a gracious place to stay. The main reason this hotel gets 5 stars is that the welcome is warm and friendly, the atmosphere calm and elegant. We have stayed a number of times at Villa Politi, throughout the year and keep going back because we have never been disappointed. The restaurant is also very good and the rooms are comfortable. In the summer the pool is open and well kept and of course used for various functions (so dont have a room over the restaurant!

The hotel is delightful in looks and grandeur, its probably one of the best in terms of looks but dont be fooled it has many negatives which unfortunately overshadow the few positives. Location= poor, away from the nicer part of Syracuse (Ortigia) by about 2km, the location of the hotel is surrounded by residential flats with nowhere to really go locally during the evening. The walk to Ortigia is down a shabby street, we walked during daylight but always got a cab home, it didnt feel very nice... Read more

The hotel is bound to make an impression on most people. I felt I was in an Agatha Christie novel staying there. You could feel the history in the hotel's walls. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The swimming pool was clean and of good size. Breakfast had fresh fruit and offered both continental and English breakfast. This hotel was used for a group study of the World War II invasion. The hotel staff were excellent, facilitating every need and being extremely flexible throughout. The pool is large and clean (although doesn't open early if you are hoping for a pre-breakfast paddle) and the dining facilities are very good. The downsides are that it is about a 25 min walk into the nicer area of Syracuse (the old town), or a 10 Euro taxi ride (which the hotel will book for you). Also the bar is slightly small whi... We were given many requested instructions from the desk staff, all of which worked out excellently. We did have to change rooms because our requested non-smoking room smelled of smoke. It is indeed a "Grand" hotel to stay in - good architecture, impressive to look at, large public rooms, lovely terrace at the front, good pool facilities with a bar, happy hour for a cocktail with a small buffet, comfortable room, good quality breakfast, ample car parking, quiet, near bus stop to Ortigia, clean - and we had nothing to fault at all.

A whiff of a bygone era, however somewhat stale. Rooms ok and a nice garden but the setting was a really boring residential area, two km to the town center. Rather irritating though not not be able to get something to eat upon arrival around two o'clock in the afternoon. Neither in the restaurant nor in the bar. Nothing much in the neighbourhood either. Not OK to charge for towels to the beach, which by the way was about 800 m walk from the hotel area including crossing a heavily busy road.

Lovely hotel , some grand features , with very helpful friendly staff - just set too far out of town. Great pool area , good breakfast ( could have done with more hot choices) , very fancy reception area. Only real drawback is that its a long walk into the main area - through a very scruffy part of town. Villa Politi had a grand entrance-way and reception area, setting the tone for a luxurious and traditional stay. Sadly the period features and artifacts en route to our room seemed disjointed with a choice of lime green to spruce up the corridor walls looking somewhat out of place. Our main disappointment however came from the size of our room, and the out-dated bathroom (poor shower cubicle and sink area).
