This beautiful ancient building sitting directly on the ancient 6th century Jewish baths is one of the most incredible places that we stayed in in Sicily. The rooms are palaces themselves, incredibly spacious, comfortable living room and even a kitchenette it so inclined. The neighborhood also is ideal, on a quiet carless street. The hotel staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

An excellent location, very quiet and central - the only drawback is the enormous difficulty of parking since spaces are extremely limited on Ortigia island. Best not to go there with a car at all. Other guests have described the hotel and the breakfasts, both of which we liked very much. However: the apparent self-catering facilities in the apartments do not really work. The two electric burners might eventually boil water, but we gave up after 15 or so minutes when the water had barely got... Read more

Read more

Excellent résidence in Ortigia, the old city of Syracuse. We got a very apartment with mezzanine and roof top terrasse. Breakfast is wonderful, the house is an old one with Jewish Bath dated II century BC. Marvelous.

This might be the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at, in the Jewish Quarter in the ancient Ortygia, an easy walk to the sea, the major sites on the island and many shopping and dining options. Staff is lovely, breakfast is great (I wish I could have taken home some of the home made marmalade served with breakfast.) our room was a suite with a comfortable living room and a kitchenette. And the public rooms are just gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Great location very close to the seaside and to the center of Ortigia. I love the decoration of the hotel especially the courtyard with little tiny details and wonderfull flowers. Hotel mediaval decoration is also interesting, but comparing to these places rooms are little bit simple. If they add little details I think it can be the coziest hotel ever.

Alla Giudecca is tucked away in one of Ortigia's many narrow streets towards the south of this enchanting island, just over the bridge from "mainland" Syracuse. We'd booked two nights and had an upstairs room with a small kitchenette/living area, bedroom and a balcony. We didn't use the kitchen, and I don't expect that many would as there are are many good cafes and restaurants in the area and the hotel offers a good 'continental" (ie uncooked) breakfast that included the usual cheese, salami, p... My stay in Ortigia was great. The Hotel Alla Giudecca is a beautiful sandstone building in the Jewish quarter which has a small number of rooms so it's not too busy and faceless. All the rooms are large and the options to sleep many people per room are available. The wedding entourage which I was part of occupied more than half of the hotel and it was a great pad to be able to get to different locations and amenities in the old city. Lots of beautiful coastline and swimming spots as well as plen... Read more

This was the best hotel we stayed at on our tour of Sicily. We had a suite with a roof balcony and a sea view. We wanted to stay an extra night but was fully booked. They actually found another hotel for us and arranged our room there too.

25 years ago this hotel was being renovated and the Jewish Baths 18m below were discovered. If you love history and old buildings you MUST stay here. It is absolutely stunning boutique hotel with so much character...you must ask to see and sit in the court yard. (Lovely for a small wedding or a birthday celebration) The price is very reasonable for what you are getting...the location, the architecture and the large room (we had a mini apartment) just steps away from the sea and the wall of Ortig... This a great hotel because it is the entire Bianca family palace now refurbished by Amalia Daniele the new owner who has interpreted the international interested for this peace of local history. From antique Jewish site then after Carlo V edict against the Jewish liberty it became a convent and than a family residence and now this wonderful easy going hotel. Ask for rooms with a terrace over the roofs and with sea view. Eat cannoli di ricotta and granita di mandorle at breakfast. You will be a ... Read more

We stayed here from Wednesday-Sunday last week, (last Sunday 17/07/16) When we arrived there were no more normal rooms so I believe they had bumped us up to a suite, and of course it was lovely to have all that extra space. We also thought the exterior and circulatory spaces leading to our suite were wonderful, especially the shaded courtyard planted with flowers and beautifully designed with outdoor furniture, plenty of places to sit and read. (see the pictures of it) We were only sorry we di... Read more

We were a family of four adults who had a delicious 3 room apartment with terrace. There was the opportunity to cook in the small kitchen, which we availed ourselves of and bought delicious products at the local market. Nice location. Sweet and accommodating staff. Breakfast buffet was okay.

This hotel is situated in the charming old streets of Ortiga in a lovely historic building. First impressions were excellent; the communal areas were lovely, full of interesting artefacts and beautiful flowers. Our room had an iron bed but was otherwise very bare with dingy white walls and droopy curtains. The kitchen area was dirty, ill equipped and old fashioned, as was the bathroom. We were horrified to find cockroaches and dry rot on closer inspection. We were made to feel unwelcome in the c... Read more

The hotel is located on a very nice part of the island. It's much quieter and less touristy than other places . It is also a very short walking distance from a great swimming spot. The common areas of the hotel are really beautiful, which is why you find a lot of very nice pictures when you google this hotel. Breakfast has a good diversity of sweets if you like eating sweets in the morning and fruits. Coffee isn't good. Surprising for Italy. The receptionists are rather on the cold side. Also... Read more

Stayed one night as our place had a problem! Beautiful interior rooms and Jewish baths under hotel. Our room and sitting room (or settees for kids) very large but a bit cold! Shower glass off rails therefore leaked. Grounds beautiful. Quiet.

beautiful small Hotel . It was comfortable, clean , quite, it had certain charm about it. Would stay here again . I thought the fee for Hotel guest to visit the Jewish bath was a bit steep. Perfectly located . However , very difficult to find by car , in fact you can't get to it by car !! Girl at check in was very kind and helpful , however gentleman at check out was a little bothered ! I think he had a lot of people checking out at once , and being on his own , he got overwhelmed ! There were ... Read more

This isn't a normal hotel. You'll get a kitchen area in your room, but there are no tea bags, no minibar, no bar downstairs. But no objections if you bring in your own! There's no lift, and no offer to help with luggage, so it's up those stairs you'll go. There's no parking nearby, and you couldn't get a car down this street anyway. But the house is amazing, the rooms quiet, modern, comfortable and air-conditioned, wifi excellent, the location quiet. Breakfast a bit scrappy, no cooked food, but... Read more

Lovely hotel, I'd booked on Expedia and somehow didn't realise we had a whole suite, each room is spacious and the hotel is very charming. Excellent location and very nice, helpful staff. The only thing we found a bit odd was that the tap water in the hotel was salty, and no one warned us about this.

If you are captivated by the enchanting photo of the Residence Alla Giudecca's courtyard garden think again! This is only used for marketing purposes, and access to this outdoor space is by permission only with a special key. The garden is kept locked at all times, and is not generally used by residents. You will find no signs for the garden anywhere, and if you do not ask the staff you will never find it or be given access to use it. Do not expect a friendly welcome to this accommodation when ... The hotel looks nice and charming - But the staff can (without keeping you informed) relocate you in another building, in front of the hotel, which is composed of flat-rooms (i.e. with a poor kitchen and a really basic bathroom) - Absolutely not charming (i.e. lights not working etc...) - Even though we had called few days before our arrival, in order to expressly ask a nice bedroom with a balcony (and we speak Italian), they did not care - Very disappointing - Plus, the hotel is located next to... The building itself has loads of character - think stone arches and interesting features - and is in a great central location in beautiful Ortigia. However, it is more a set of apartments than a hotel which may be, in part, a reason for the appalling customer service (more of that later). Rooms/apartments are large and that seems to be what you are paying for as opposed to any level of comfort or service during your stay. We had room 8 with a private roof terrace and mezzanine floor. There is... Read more

This is a small B& B residence, rather than a hotel. All of the rooms are suites. Breakfast is a typical Italian breakfast with more sweets than anything substantial. The best part of this hotel is the location. You can walk to any part of Ortigia from this hotel. I would have given five stars, but didn't because the receptionist told us that the fare by taxi from the hotel to our hotel in Catania was 50 Euros. When we arrived in Catania the driver told us is was 85 Euros and that the re... Read more
