Clean and comfortable rooms, nice swimming pool in attractive back garden. Staff were great, especially Angelo at reception and the two Giuseppe's in the Restaurant who were really helpful with my wife's gluten free diet and were also brilliant entertainment! Hotel is near to main shops, restaurants and bars. Five minutes from train and bus station.

The Hotel Tourist is in a very good location on the main road through the town. It has a lovely pool and garden at the rear of the hotel. Street and road noise was a bit of a problem on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as they were having a Harley Davidson rally in the town centre. Disappointed not to have a balcony only a large window. The breakfast was the normal continental style fare and the evening meals were a bit hit and miss. All the staff were very nice and helpful, arrived late on the Frida... Read more

The unpromisingly-named Hotel Tourist is conveniently located on the main street, about five minutes walk from the railway and bus station, and close to a couple of highly recommended eating-places (traditional Italian cuisine at La Cantinaccio del Popolo, and a quite outstanding burger bar, N'hambu'). Our room was very pleasant, clean and comfortable, although rather dated in its décor, and the swimming-pool and sun-loungers, located beside a small grove of lemon trees in the garden, were a r... Good budget hotel, excellent location and friendly staff. Room: Small double room but had everything we needed. Small balcony over the pool. The bathroom was clean with a decent shower and large sink. Bed very comfortable. Air conditioning kept us cool enough to want to use the thin duvet. Room cleaned everyday. Our room was quiet, although it was over the pool, not over the street. I imagine it would be noisy over the street with the door or windows open, but the air conditioning means that y... Read more

We arrived at 21.30 and check in went without a problem. The room was compact, clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the busy road which was entertainment in its self. I've read other reviews which have said it was noisy, not true when doors shut very quiet. The waiters in dining room were friendly and entertaining and I enjoyed every dish I ate. The pool area was like a peaceful oasis with orange and lemon trees. The pool was always clean and there was a lovely shady spot under grapes to s... Read more

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Tourist, we booked this hotel as a base for our trip (a friend was getting married in Sorrento) and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean and very centrally located, about a five minute walk from the main square, it is based on a busy junction but we didn't find the noise of the road affected us in the room at all and our balcony overlooked the road. We didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel as was busy with the wedding and the evening... Read more

Stayed here for a mates wedding ( two week stay) It's a good hotel very handy for location, has a good pool area. The staff in the restaurant are very good, also friendly! They will do what they can to make you happy. Food is quite nice (depending on what you like) I would certainly stay here again. And recommend it to anyone. It's a very good price. Can be noisy of you have a balcony at the front, but when the doors are shut it's fine. Sorrento is a beautiful place! And this is a go... Read more

Just got back from the tourist hotel. Not a good place to stay. Our room (401) was on the back of the hotel so a little quieter than round the front. Our balcony overlooked a railway and a load of scaffolding on the building next door. The aircon was all but useless. The bathroom was not good. The shower was tiny, falling apart and covered in black mould. The water pressure was little more than a dribble. But the worst part was the restaurant. The food was often served cold/lukewarm T... Booked this place as not many others available. Room was fairly basic with no fridge or tea making facilities. The air con is controlled by reception and we had to keep asking them to adjust or even turn it back on. The view we had was one of roof tops. The bed was made daily but never changed. Rooms fairly basic but clean. Breakfast was like a scene out of Fawlty towers loads of cake, not much fruit, the orange juice was disgusting and the tea n coffee bit hit n miss as to whether they arrive! ... Read more

We stayed as a family for a week. We arrived very late dues to a 3 hour flight delay, but the night manager was very welcoming and recommended us a great pizza restaurant a very short a walk away. We had a room on the front but were not troubled by the noise at all. We were able to hire a safe for just 5 euros for the week. The breakfasts were fine and the staff lovely, they remembered after the first day coffee for hubby, tea for me and hot chocolate for our son. The pool lifeguard is very fr... Read more

Just returned from the tourist hotel - we had a great stay. You will see a lot of very different posts on here so will try and be objective. Negatives : food is basic if you are wanting anything other than basic just go bed and breakfast and eat out at night ( not cheap tho) on a busy road and next to railway line if you are sensitive to noise then look elsewhere - personally we had no issues with either and our room was roadside. Have to ask to put air conditioning when picking key up (big deal... Read more

Have just returned from a week at the Hotel Tourist in Sorrento. My party consisted of myself and 2 children aged 7 and 11. We arrived very late on the Friday night but was happy to find a cold platter available to eat that night. The room we put in was by the pool and was adequate for the 3 of us. Once the air con was figured out, the room had a good temperature. As we were on the back of the hotel, we were not bothered by traffic noise from the main road out front at all. In the morning we aw... Read more

We got back from Sorrento this morning, the hotel is very clean, the bedrooms have everything you need, the bathroom could have done with updating a little but everything worked and was spotless. The pool area is lovely and we spent a lot of time out there swimming, sunbathing and having midday snacks. We got on well with all the staff especially the waiters who were really nice and very helpful when it came to choosing what to have for evening meal. The food was lovely, we never had a bad mea... The staff were very friendly even though their English isn't very good (but it is better than my Italian). that said the room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel and pool. The pool its self is a tropical oasis with citrus trees growing. The location was very good or us as it was a 2 min walk to the nearest supermarket and thee train station is only a 10min walk so we could get the train to Pompeii and Vesuvius. The waiting staff were very friendly and were very good with my Mums and bro... Read more

The staff at the Hotel Tourist were pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel did suit themselves regarding the times of food being available at the poolside; there was no consistency. With regards to the food, well it wasn't the hotel's strongest selling point. Firstly you were allocated seats for the entire week, next to other guests, luckily for us we are very sociable and enjoyed the interaction with the other guests we met and found this a useful way of finding out what they were doing dur... Me and my boyfriend visited Sorrento for the first time back in June, we absolutely loved it and the hotel was just fine for us. The location is great, Sorrento has a lovely buzz and we wanted to explore the surrounding areas and have day trips aswell as have some chilled out pool days. We had a good room at the front, so the balcony was noisy as the Main Street is super busy, lots of people and mopeds beeping, but it was big and we liked the people watching so were happy! Our hotel room was clean, spacious and quiet, tucked away by the pool at the back of the hotel. The view from one window was scaffolding but as we were out most of the time it didn't matter, the view from the other was out onto the pool area which was very pleasant. We had booked bed and breakfast; breakfast was always entertaining with Basil and Manuel look-alikes to keep us amused. The toaster was a source of entertainment, with them switching it off or turning it down at regular intervals! ... Read more

Spent a week in lovely Sorrento after booking a late deal through Travel Republic. Location of the hotel is good. It is a 10 minute walk to the main piazza. It is on the flat but the pavements are narrow in places and can be uneven so could be a challenge for some. The hotel is located on a very busy main road which means traffic noise is fairly constant. Additionally, the train line is at the bottom of the garden next to the pool. You do get used to the noises but if you are looking for a quiet... Read more
