When I decided to take my wife, who had never been abroad, somewhere memorable, I immediately thought of Sorrento. My wife then suggested that we invite my elderly parents and an elderly uncle who had fond memories of Sorrento prior to his wife passing away. I know Italy well and know that a family run hotel is a must. With reduced mobility I needed somewhere without steps or hills to climb (which is rare on this coast). I also wanted a view of the Bay of Naples and the mighty Vesuvius. The Hot... Read more

We stayed one week here with another couple. It is family owned and run and the staff are very pleasant. We had a room at the back with a large comfortable double bed plus bunks in a separate area (which we didn't need). There was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, fridge and safe. Our balcony area was rather small as we were on an inside corner. Most were larger. Shower was not fancy but worked fine. Hair dryer was basic. Cleaning was efficient. We stayed at the Girasole in May for a week as a family (with a 11 month old). The hotel had a friendly family feel to it and the staff were very welcoming. Rita was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering our questions about the local area. The rooms at the rear of the hotel have beautiful views and the hotel grounds are very pleasant to wander around. The only downside was the busy road immediately outside the hotel but we are still glad that we chose to stay here and had a very pleasant s... Read more

Holiday in Sorrento My friend and I went on holiday with Newmarket Travel for the second time just last week 17th-24th May. The holiday was basically well organised and enjoyable. We asked for a room overlooking the garden, away from the road and I even sent an email to the hotel nearer the time with this request again. The room we were allocated in the Girasole hotel however, was a basic room overlooking the VERY busy road. We arrived late. After being in the room only 1 night we decided we... Read more

After reading all of the previous reviews I was dreading arriving here and being allocated a room on the road. So I sent the hotel an email weeks in advance asking for a nice quiet room. Therefore, you can imagine my disappointment when upon arrival we were shown to a room on the ground floor right next to the road. I immediately asked for another room and told them about my email. To be fair they changed our room immediately and apologised for forgetting about my request. Not the best of starts... Read more

We stayed last week and had a fantastic time. We've stayed here before - on honeymoon in 1991 and again in '96. We bought our young daughters who loved the pool and the great breakfasts. The staff are the same family who we met in '91 and are so friendly and helpful. I agree the road is busy - lots of cars and scooters but surely that's part of Italy's charm. I agree it's best to get a rear bedroom with the superb view of Vesuivius and the beautiful gardens, but I honestly don't recognise the h... Read more

When booking accommodation we always read reviews. Looking at this place the only complaint we saw was regarding the shower curtains and thought it can't be too bad. IT WAS THAT BAD. Within 5 minutes of getting in the shower the entire bathroom was flooded.
