Stayed for a week in an annex room about 100 yards from hotel.Quiet with large L shaped patio 3 sun loungers and table with two chairs and basic but adequate facilities.Room 65 as I recall. Owners and staff friendly enough.Breakfast was like the room, basic but adequate.Evening meal,3 courses at 13 euros pp was not for us and so we ate out for the remaing 6 nights of our visit. Attractive separate pool area for those who like to relax in the sun. We stayed as part of a Thomsons package and receiv... Read more

we travelled here in october for 2 weeks. We were warmly welcomed by all staff at the girasole as we have returned here regularly over past 10 years. We were given a lovley room over looking the garden on the 3rd floor. The room was lovely with a fantastic view over the garden and beyond across the bay of naples. We had a room in the corner with a balcony that connected next to the balcony of our imediate neighbour. Initially i was worried it would lack the privacy we long for but since the weat... Read more

Rita on reception always helpful, booking trips, giving advice, family serving good food, set menu but with choices, always something tasty, garden for evening drinks. Large swimming pool with snack and drinks bar great after a hot day siteseeing. Hotel on main road with buses nearby into town or 20 minte walk. Station 5 mins, we went on local train to Herculaneum and on an Amalfi boat trip suggested by Rita for 28 euros rather than 50 plus euros offered by tour companies. Great musical evening ... Visited in the beginning of march- warm weather of up to 30 degrees however the pool was not open because it was Spring. The staff were very friendly and welcoming as were the rooms. Unfortunately, we were 'kicked out' of the bar at 10:30pm because they were closing up- but oh well, that is their loss... The rooms were dated but provided the necessities. Improvements need to be concentrated in the bathrooms, especially the showers. Wanted to get out of the shower rather than relaxing under a wat... Read more

The quality of the food was far from expected for the price charged for half board and customer service experienced was far from homely. The choice of food was very poor with only two options for starter and main. Over a five day period we were offered a version of fish and chips on three occasions, roast veal that had come out of a packet and been reheated and the worst attempt at roast chicken I have ever seen, see attached photo. We were assured by the hotel owner this is all typical Italian ... Read more

After such a wonderful trip last year to Lake Garda, we decided to go ahead and book Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri trip, staying at Girasole Hotel. What a disappointment!! We arrived and was escorted to our room, which can only be described as a broom cupboard!! They gave us an alternative after complaining, but found we looked out on the main road and an eyesore view- the traffic was dreadfully noisy!.The shower was so small, you had to lather out on the shower mat and then shower off! We now come to... Read more

Their cheaper rooms overlook the busy main road into Sorrento and are not recommended. There you will enjoy the sound of every motorbike car, coach and lorry visiting Sorrento, all will pass under your window, their sound bouncing off the high wall opposite at all hours of the night. The rooms at the back of the hotel are very pleasant and quiet but will cost an extra 20 Euros a night, Breakfast is basic but adequate. The evening meal will keep you alive but only just. It lacks imagination an... Read more

We stayed at the Girasole for 10 days in May 2016. Our room was on the third floor with a fantastic view of the garden & Vesuvius. The room was comfortable and very, very clean with a safe & fridge with no charge. Best to pay supplement for garden room as front facing rooms over the busy Corsa Italia road are noisy ! The staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Always cheerful and made you feel "at home". You are staying with a family rather than in a large hotel & we found ... Read more

We loved this hotel, and had a lovely time in Sorrento. The Girasole is quite far out of the town centre, but is well placed to for explorers willing to tread the streets to access hidden eateries and cafes - we enjoyed the views and atmosphere looking back across to Sorrento from the east end of the peninsula. Food was great, room was comfortable and reasonably equipped. We spent most mornings having a leisurely breakfast outside, and most siesta times near the pool. My only major gripe is that... When I decided to take my wife, who had never been abroad, somewhere memorable, I immediately thought of Sorrento. My wife then suggested that we invite my elderly parents and an elderly uncle who had fond memories of Sorrento prior to his wife passing away. I know Italy well and know that a family run hotel is a must. With reduced mobility I needed somewhere without steps or hills to climb (which is rare on this coast). I also wanted a view of the Bay of Naples and the mighty Vesuvius. The Hot... Read more

We stayed one week here with another couple. It is family owned and run and the staff are very pleasant. We had a room at the back with a large comfortable double bed plus bunks in a separate area (which we didn't need). There was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, fridge and safe. Our balcony area was rather small as we were on an inside corner. Most were larger. Shower was not fancy but worked fine. Hair dryer was basic. Cleaning was efficient. There was free WiFi although we had to log bac... Read more
