We stayed here for two nights while enjoying the town of Sorrento, and we couldn't have been happier! It was a lovely hotel, just a block away from the central square of Sorrento. The hotel was well maintained, the breakfast was the best we had of any hotel we stayed at in Italy, and the pool area was beautiful. There are tons of lemon and orange trees surrounding the pool, which makes for some great pictures when it's the right time of year. The room we had was right in front of an elevator, bu... Read more

We were at the Antiche Mura for five nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were some of the most friendly but professional that we have met, the location is perfect for the main square and the station, the room was comfortable and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Sorrento. The pool is not that big but very pretty, surrounded by lemon trees and with a nice bar for a drink or lunch, breakfast

Firstly the hotel had an excellent location, i,e walk out of the front door and 30 yards later you are in the Sorrento town centre, albeit there was no 'tourist' noise. The hotel was absolutely spotless and the bedroom had a very comfortable large bed with the bedding and towels being changed every day. The staff were very professional, polite and had excellent local knowledge. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.

Centrally located, but lacks a lot of amenities. Not even a tissue in the room. The terrace faced another building so you had to keep the curtains closed. No conditioner, no wash cloths, plastic glasses in the bathroom. Just not the first class hotel we expected. The best thing is the location.

We spent a few nights here last year and it was a fabulous hotel. The room was comfortable and clean but a little small. We had a nice patio to sit out on if we wanted to. But the best part for us about the hotel was the garden. It was really nice to be able to come back and sit by the pool after a day sightseeing. The walk from the main part of the hotel to our room passed beautiful smelling flowers. In the morning we had breakfast outside in the garden. It was great to be able to sit out there... Read more

I agree with all the glowing reviews about the gardens, the breakfast, and the staff. It's a really lovely hotel, and the rooms are in great condition and spotless, with beautiful tiling and the amenities you would expect from a deluxe hotel. We would definitely return. Room location does factor into the quality of your stay, however. Our group had 5 rooms, and 4 that they gave us were on the 1st floor, which affects quality of sleep if you are not a heavy sleeper. Having taken the train from Milan to Naples, and then a hired car (Astarita Car Service - highly recommended) from Naples to Sorrento, we arrived late evening. We were greeted warmly by the front desk staff who already had our reservation documents ready which made for a very quick and efficient check-in. We were informed that we had been given an upgrade to the room we had reserved - one of the garden rooms. As you can see from the photos of the view from our room, it was indeed an upgrade from... We chose the hotel for a seven night stay on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. It must be about 100 years old and built in the grand villa style, with some nice architectural touches. Peeking into other rooms showed that they all vary in size, but our comfort room 409 was large, beautifully decorated, quiet and with a small balcony overlooking the dramatic gorge. Nice touches included a welcome bowl of fruit and sparkling wine, excellent mirrors, good bedside lightin... Read more

This was a lovely hotel. Our accommodations were quite lovely and located across from the pool. This garden area was loaded with lemon and orange trees. I spent part of one afternoon just sitting outside with a glass of wine and reading. Perfect after a day of exploring Sorrento on my own.

Pros Great location, just a few minutes from the town centre. Beautiful grounds, well maintained and the lemon trees in the garden make great shade around the pool. Clean rooms and Excellent housekeeping - Change of towels twice a day, and very friendly staff. Room was high up with a small balcony, looking over the road and in to the hills above Sorrento. Just back from a 10 night stay at this hotel on our honeymoon. It is just simply a superb hotel, one of the best we have stayed at anywhere and I can only endorse all the positive feedback from other reviewers. We probably stayed a lot longer than other guests usually do so we had a long time to come to our positive conclusions about it. We are both in our 60's and walking is a problem for my wife, so the location is excellent and is literally a flat 100 yards walk from the main Piazza Tasso. B... Read more

It makes more sense to me comparing the Antiche Mura and to a B&B than it does a 'typical' 5-star hotel for several reasons. First, the hotel 'feels' inside like the B&B with its: single reception/concierge desk, tight floor plan organization, cozy and elegant common areas that aren't 'soaring and garish' the placement of rooms around bending corridors and the relative quiet that comes with fewer guests and the absence of a large hotel staff. There were lots of extremely good things about this hotel - e.g.location, breakfast, staff, pool area. However, for ?330+ per night the room (a "Comfort" room) was disappointing - quite small with a dated bathroom and decor. On a couple of days we returned briefly to the hotel at 3pm-ish and the room still hadn't been cleaned. I don't mind paying a lot for a hotel room but I do want value for money!
