Everything was just so right about this hotel. Beautiful interior and reception. Rooms more than adequate and very comfortable. Staff very friendly, polite and well trained. Breakfast had a good variety and of course the quality was inline with everything else. Pool relaxing, sunbeds classy and comfortable. The lido/beech the same. The gardens of the hotel beautiful as was all the public areas Thank you Grand Royal for a wonderful stay

As a group of friends we go away every year and our stay at the Grand Hotel Royal was one of our best ever trips. The hotel is in a perfect location close to the centre of town but with spectacular views of the bay and Mount Vesuvius. The hotel itself is well appointed with lovely grounds and a large pool. The terrace was a perfect place for drinks and for lunch. The staff were extremely helpful for such a large group and were always willing to give advice and to order 8 seater cabs for us ... Terrible, rude, even sometimes hostile service! We booked asking for two double beds, was given a room with one King. When we asked to change, we were told that that was our room and that was all we were getting. When we asked again later to change rooms, we were told the same thing, and yelled at in the lobby in front of other people. The hotel's decor is also quite out of date and the general facilities are undeserving of its hotel class. To be avoided.

Everything about this hotel was great!! The staff, was always accommodating and pleasant. The dining room is beautiful, and breakfast exceptional. The view from my room was breathtaking. Looking forward to going back, four days was not long enough.

We spent a week here on our honeymoon and couldn't have wished for a more picturesque hotel. The staff were very helpful as we weren't given the best of rooms initially but upgraded us for free by the second night. The poolside restaurant and bar are so handy for snacking during daytime sunbathing and the hotel's own terrace doubles up as one of the most breathtaking venues for evening meals with spectacular views across the bay. Highly memorable.

We stayed in a double deluxe with sea view on 6th floor, a spacious room. The sea views were amazing from our balcony. Breakfast very good lots to choose from. We were half board and the evening meals were excellent, (Sorrento cuisine). There was a wedding one day and we enjoyed listening to the music on the balcony before going to dinner. When we closed the patio doors we could hardly hear the music so didn't find this a problem. The evening entertainment was lovely and there was also a wonder... Read more

This hotel was truly lovely. The pool and beach area were very nice. I would highly recommend skipping the elevator down to the beach area at least once to walk through the beautiful mix of gardens and tunnels. The breakfast was delicious, the staff members throughout the hotel couldn't have been any nicer, and the views are just breath taking.

We visited Sorrento for a birthday celebration and had an amazing time. The hotel was lovely, rooms were nice but would definitely upgrade to a sea view next time as the views and sunsets are fantastic. The restaurants within the hotel are good but lots of nice places to eat within walking distance. The staff were all very helpful and nice. The hotel is well located with everything within walking distance. Sorrento is absolutely beautiful, can't wait to return.

Located in an ideal position within easy walking distance of Piazza Tasso. Quiet although near centre. Many restaurants nearby. Staff friendly and efficient. Very clean. Lovely terrace garden and pool with hydromassage. Breakfast good. We would go back here.

The hotel and gardens are beautiful. All the staff we came into contact with, were friendly and efficient, even during a thunder storm on our last evening, which led to an electricity outage. Our room was always cleaned well and linen and towels were changed regularly. Our room, 501, had a stunning sea view over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, with a good size balcony, well worth paying extra for. This year the weather has been a little mixed, so it would be hard to keep outdoor areas prist... Read more

We paid for a sea view room which was worth the extra money, the room was gorgeous. This was a lovely spot with its own "beach" area down on the waterfront. The pool area with terrace area were great spots for relaxing. Well located and only a quick walk into the centre of Sorrento and close to the bus collection point for many of the day trips and train station it was a good central point to stay. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of goi... Read more

My husband and I spent five nights at the Grand Hotel Royal in early May. We had high expectations and were not disappointed. Our suite was large, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurants was excellent. Breakfast each morning was the same, but included a nice variety of items. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant one night and took a bottle of (overpriced) wine back to our room/balcony. Loved it. Plenty of shops and othe... Read more

What a fantastic place!! We are here at the moment on Honeymoon. The rooms are lovely - the hotel gorgeous! Right in the middle of Sorrento on the cliff top overlooking the sea and Mount Vesuvious! The staff are brilliant - all polite - very friendly and nothing is too much trouble! We're here for just over another week - paradise!!

We have been to this hotel many times and the reason is the the perfect peaceful position , the lovely staff who welcome us and make us feel so special , sun bathing at the pool and a light lunch looking over the bay to Vesuvius , it must be one of the best views ever .Its only a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Sorrento were there are places to sit and watch the world go by. Mixing with locals makes for an authentic and exciting atmosphere . The hotel is spotless with an old world charm .... Read more

On the 25th of June 2016 we had our wedding party at this place after one year of arrangement and preparation. After having a beautiful ceremony at Museo Correale, we were quite disappointed by poor management of the party at hotel Royal . We had several meetings with the event organizer and the manager before our party, and explained in detail the schedule of party we wished to have. Our main concern was to reserve enough time at the end of the evening for dancing, and we had arranged a sched... Read more

I could have no complaints about this hotel. The room, the service, the food were all perfect. The view across the bay cannot be adequately described, you have to witness it for yourself. This is the only hotel I've ever stayed in, in Sorrento, I can say if I went back I would not book at any other hotel.

Ok we have been going here many many years but only do so because it is so good, the location is awesome, and everything is as well, staff, food, management and service. Worth twice the money they charge. The style and elegance is heaven, the sun sets from the terrace are stunning, great for romance and happiness, well done Royal.

The location for this hotel was just a few minutes walk directly from (or to) the circumvesuvius train. It was also just down the road from one of the main squares of Sorrento and from the port. Our room was ready, despite the early arrival. The room was spacious but slightly dated. The air-conditioning wasn‚??t automatic (once the lights were switched on), but easy enough to turn on. A better located room would have been nicer, to enjoy the views. We were off the pool and from the room could of... Read more

You can swim in the Bay of Naples with Mt Vesuvius in the background. Watch the sunset with a drink from the outdoor bar. We stayed for 3 nights at the Grand Hotel Royal. We went for the cheapest room (which was still pricey) -- it was in a small annex by the pool and kitchen. It was not overly luxurious, but it was just fine -- very clean, modern bathroom and they provided a comfortable third bed. We went for the half-board which was a good choice for us since we returned exhausted from sightseeing. The view from their terrace was amazing. My only complaint was that the pool and sea platform closed at 6:30 p.... Read more

Stayed 3 nights in sea view room - nice view and big enough for 3 people. Bathroom also roomy with large tub with overhead shower but because of size of bath getting in and out is challenging and slightly dangerous due to risk of slipping. Breakfast ok and most staff pleasant enough - just one woman who when I asked for more coffee gave me a dirty look and decided to ignore my request so had to ask one of the friendlier servers. We lovely lunch with a magnificent view of the sea and marina. The service was great, but the salad slightly disappointing. The hotel is however understaffed at the private beach area. There were no staff to keep the bathrooms clean and services and we had to ask the bar men to assist every now and then. We did however really enjoy the afternoon there.
