My wife and I enjoyed a two week stay here. We had a fourth floor room with a great view of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The hotel on the whole and our room were clean and airy and the huge bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was good but had a shower over the bath with a plastic curtain that wrapped itself around us...grrrrrrrr. The shower control was big and on the long wall and very easy to knock while showering, either turning it off or changing the water temperature. A glass screen an... Read more

An excellent centrally located hotel which is beautifully decorated and provides spectacular views across the bay of Naples. Wonderful and helpful staff. Beautiful indoor and outdoor dining facilities. Room was one of the best we have ever stayed in. Congratulations to the staff and thanks for a wonderful break. Will definitely be back.

Stayed here for 7 nights and would highly recommend. The staff are trained to a high standard in how to deliver first class hospitality. Nothing is too much to ask for. Good spacious rooms although no hot drinks and ironing facilities the stunning sea views from selected rooms make up for this inconvenience. Lovely roof top swimming pool with fantastic sea views. Good wifi and English tv channels in rooms.

I would not rate a Hotel "Excellent", unless it not just met, but exceeded my expectations. This Hotel, The staff, the service and the location rate in my top five of "Holiday Hotels". True to say, it is a four not five star rating, but I have no reservations recommending The Grand Hotel De La Ville. Location: Very good, we had a "Partial Sea View, Side" not the full Sea View, but the view was still breath taking, with Mt Vesuvius in the distance above the Blue Sea below. Staff: Excellent. Co... The set Dinner was fantastic and the hotel common areas are beautiful including the garden and pool areas. Breakfast was very nice in the courtyard with lots of choice. There was a pianist in the bar and it was nice to sit and have a drink. Although I booked a room with a sea view, the view was mostly of the property next door back yard and the hotel is a little further away from the city than I expected. The room itself was OK.

Great hotel, excellent service from all staff. Breakfast varied, something for everyone. The reason I didn't give it five stars was due to an average dinner in hotel on our first night there. The fish (snapper) was not good, almost tasteless. However, I would stay there again.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the hotel. It's not bad, but it's not 4 star for several reasons. The location is far from the restaurants, sites, and nightlife. The hotel lobby is lovely but once you go up to the room levels, the hotel is dark and dingy. The rooms are adequate, but just so. Rooms with water views--give me binoculars! I would not choose this hotel again .

Having spent over 10 days staying at 6 other hotels along the Amalfi coast, it came as a very pleasant surprise to find that the most luxurious of them offered the best value. The rates are reasonable for 4 Star superior and the standard is in most respects better than most equivalent and even 5 Star hotels. We stayed here for a week in May 2011, I just never got round to reviewing this place. It was fabulous, our room was beautiful, the pool area was fantastic which had the most wonderful views! The food at the hotel was delicious and the restaurant was welcoming and charming. The staff were great and our week was perfect. Sorrento itself is gorgeous, pompei and Capri are well worth a visit. One day we will return ???

We stayed at the Grand Hotel De La Ville as friends were staying too. It is a friendly hotel in a good location with a nice rooftop pool area and bar though you couldn't order food or eat here. The room was a good size though a little dated but had amazing sea views which made up for this. The breakfast was great with a cooking station for eggs which we hadn't found in other hotels on our trip. Plenty of food choice too. The staff were very friendly and seemed to know the guests well.

There are a ton of positive reviews for this place. To be honest, it is not for a mid 30's couple. Everyone here is older, like EVERYONE. While the service and food was good, the room itself was dated and very uncomfortable. The hotel tries hard to deliver high standards in the restaurant but the room itself doesn't reflect this. The bed mattresses really need to be updated. They are really old and uncomfortable. Its got charm, but its not cozy.
