I asked for a pillow because the maides took it along with the comforters and the guy at the desk wouldn't give me one because it was my last night.. However, the breakfast was good and the breakfast worker was super nice and friendly. The hostile is very pretty and clean. Just don't ask for anything!!

This hotel is an old monastery where the rooms are small cells the nuns lived in. The breakfast is wonderful but the absolute best part of staying here is hearing the bells al over Siena several times during the day, especially in the morning. It's a wonderful experience and can't wait to stay here again.

We stayed in this old Monastery where they have converted the living quarters that the nuns would have used. What a beautiful place. As someone else mentioned the bells ring several times throughout the day and it was just magical. The views out of the window were just stunning, we had a small balcony which was great and the room was clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend to stay here.

Stayed one night at the Alma Domus in a spotless single room at the end of the hall. A little hard to find, but just down the street from the Basilica Domenica. Church bells begin at 7:30 am, so if you are a light sleeper this might not be the best choice. A couple of restaurants just behind the hotel with great views of the back the Duomo; nice places for a drink and watch the sun go down.

Stayed here for two nights. Excellent location in the city. Steps away from the Santa Caterina church and with a view of the Duomo from our room. Rooms are clean and basic, they have air con and bbc news tv. Breakfast is simple no meat or cheese or eggs, cereal bread fruit and yoghurt. It is however good value as this area is expensive. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. Number of eating places again within steps of the hotel.

Check-in by a middle-aged woman was not as welcoming as one would hope, though other staff were better. We had a Classic room (room 29)and knew it would not be as good as the Superior rooms. However it was very small and the balcony was not special. Also the bed was rather hard. Breakfast was not good. Choice was limited and quality poor. We do not need a huge breakfast but for the price charged it was not acceptable. We had to drink juice out of plastic cups and eat cereal out of plastic bowls.... Read more

Cozy property, easy access to Siena. Very close to the Gramsci Stop (we took Italo bus) Good restaurant with fun environment at the top of street, just where you turn to enter Alma Domus. Room was clean and had great view, very accessible to all of lovely Sienawhich is all around you. Twin beds were very firm! Very nice property, warm and helpful staff. Breakfast is coffee, tea, chocolate milk, roll, fruit, yogurt. Room is smallish, big windows with lovely view, bathroom good sized.

Built into a cliff this hotel offers great views across to the main city of Siena. I spent my mornings emjoying the screeching acrobatic swifts against the background of blue skies. The room I had (2nd floor) was a bit basic and more of the view was tiles than city but I guess the pricier rooms get the better views. Loved the location though.

Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and helpful, close to restaurants and within walking distance to bus terminal for travel to surrounding towns, travelled to Florence and San Gimignano for day trips, as we were travelling this part of our trip by train it is only a taxi ride from train station.

The Hotel Alma Domus is conveniently located adjacent to Santa Catarina's House and down the street from the Basilica of San Dominico. Our room was a little small, but the view of the Duomo made up for it. The front desk was staffed on an almost continual basis by Giorgio, a friendly and helpful local who was able to direct us around the city. He helped make our stay a successful one. There was a common room in which we were able to write in our journal. As with everywhere we stayed in Ital... Read more

Wonderful experience with our stay. Great walking distance away from the center city. Decoration/utlities are a little outdated but everything was very clean! The breakfast was small but rather nice since it is included. Would recommend staying here.

The Hotel is in a beautiful location and at a good rate with amazing restaurants situated at the entrance stairs. The breakfast is terrible! I would'nt even bother, rather eat out. Rooms are pretty good, quite basic but we took one without a view so I am sure they can get better. The bathrooms are quite small but the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The Free Wifi is good. I would stay here again.

This is our third stay at Alma Domus. This time we had a superior room on the top floor and the view over the city was picture postcard perfect. Rooms are slightly on the basic side but clean and with everything you need for a few nights in Siena. Location is brilliant with easy walk to the square and the bus station, and with excellent restaurants literally on the doorstep. Only let down by the rather basic breakfast.

Our room was clean and quiet with a nice view of the Duomo from our window. Breakfast was nice and well prepared. Staff was very helpful and cooperative. The halls are spacious and there is a secluded garden to enjoy. I would stay here again.

We had a great room on the 3rd floor with the best views over Siena's Duomo. The setting was the best part of this hotel. We found the hotel quiet noisy (the noise traveled badly in the corridors and walls very thin). The breakfast was a little disappointing with plastic cups and trays. Overall a very enjoyable stay, thank you.

We have stayed at this hotel many times, staying normally for Il Palio. It's an old converted convent. The hotel is ideally located about a 10 minute walk from the main piazza. The rooms are clean and the view from our room overlooking Siena were incredible. The staff at the reception and at breakfast were always very friendly.

Unless you are staying 5 star you look for cleanliness, good bed and linen and great bathroom. Alma Domus delivers and at a good price. Considering location they are very good, organised and the Italian Breakfast good. Would I stay there again, YES. Air Con, WiFi, and breakfast included.

I spent 3 months in Siena when I was in college, so naturally during my honeymoon to Italy I had to go back and visit. The hotel is closely located to a bus stop not farther than a 6 minute ride to or from the train station. The hotel has AC, a very generous breakfast buffet selection (if you ask you can get a cappuccino), and an AMAZING view of the medieval city. The staff spoke English efficiently. The room was small in comparison to hotel rooms in the states but for Italy it was typical. The ... Read more

The location, room and sevice were great, and deserve more than an average score. However a very loud open bar next to the hotel just devalues a great deal of it.. Party music was clearly heard in the rooms. Even with earplugs you could hear the anoying noise and clearly understand what people were shouting (and I wouldn t consider myself as sensible). Obviously the windows are not isolated at all. A shame that couldn t recover at all in this hotel.

We stayed in the hotel for one night only as we were passing through Siena. The views from the terrace on the room was beautiful. The room was small and basic but met our needs. The only caution I would give you is parking. The area the desk clerk advised us to park in was quite a walk and they failed to tell us that we had to move our car before 7 am for street cleaning. I had to wait in line to pay my parking ticket to get the discounted fee. It would have been cheaper to park in a pay lot.

If you are looking for luxury, pampering, etc...this is not the right address. In fact the hotel facilities are pretty basic ( it is mostly an "inn" for pilgrims travelling along the Via Francigena - one of the main religious and cultural routes in Europe). Having said that, the location of the hotel cannot be matched by anyone in town: calm, secluded, yet very close to all the key destinations. The view from the terrace is unforgettable - it is a "must see" of Siena in its own right! Rooms are... Read more

Good place. Near 3 nice restaurants. Good air conditioning. Quiet. In downtown. A lot of nuns stay there, which was OK for us. It belongs to a Christian organisation or church. No fridge or kettle in the room. OK breakfast. Will stay there again. Helpful re keeping our luggage post-check-out.

The Alma Domus hotel is on a fantastic location near the centre of Siena with an amazing view from the balcony over the city. The room was extremely clean. The staff couldn't be more helpfully. There is only a free parking within a 15 min walk. The breakfast was extremely disappoiting, everything was just sweet food and yoghurts. No continental food at all. Even to bring some own was forbidden. Only plastic glasses available!

I think this used to be a convent. Great location, but the hotel is not so charming. Beds are basic, and the bathroom gave me the feeling of a hospital bathroom. The front desk staff was not very friendly, but if you're just going to be in and out, going to wine tours every day, you'd be happy no matter what!

I have stayed in Hotel Alma Domus on a number of occasions with my boyfriend when we visit Siena. While the hotel isn't particularly luxurious, it is the perfect base from which to explore the city. It's a very short walk away from the Piazza del Campo and all the main sites, but is sufficiently far enough to ensure that you can escape the bustle and crowds and get a fantastic night sleep. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. We have be... Read more

Enjoyed staying here, room was modern and sparse, but well equipped. No fridge but typical of rooms in Europe. The hotel is housed in a old convent and they have art works in this theme which is pretty cool. Location is great, walking distance to centre of walled town and still in the historical area. Breakfast was pretty good and my Mother even found the espresso coffee decent. Staff were quite helpful. They have a funny quirk if you lose a couple of maps they ask for 50 cents. The location was excellent, a short walk to the main square via St Catherine's convent. There are escalators, if you walk down Via Camporegio and turn right, that lead directly into the city too. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. It is worth asking for a room with a view.

Pros: 1. location is very good. 2. proces are reasonable 3. view is very nice from the room Cons: My experience with this hotel was not the best for many reasons: 1. we came to Siena with a car using GPS navigation which took us to wrong entrenance of Siena, We had to call the hotel for help, but unfortunately they couldn't speak basic English ... The hotel was close to the city center, so nothing was more than a 10 minute walk. The room was very clean and serviced daily. They have body wash instead of bar soap so bring your own if you want a bar of soap. I used the body wash and it worked well. There is a courtyard which I used to relax after my travels through the city. Breakfast offered cereal, juices, tea coffee, croissants, breakfast cakes, fruit and more. A brilliant place to stay for an overnight stop in Siena, located within the city walls. We had booked a "room with a view" and were not disappointed. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the breakfast which - while functional - was not outstanding.

Pros: standard room con vista on 3 rd floor had a superb view of Siena, great location within 10 min walk everywhere, taxi pickup if required right at your doorstep which is unusual for Siena, breakfast was simple no eggs but in a beautiful room, and the front desk was very helpful unlike reviews I've read. Cons: beds lumpy and not so comfortable but for the price you pay you can't have everything!

Okay, I have been to Italy four times and plan to go many more. My first time, I witnessed an American being American in a NON American country and I vowed not to be that way. So I share this with you because this is not an American complaint IMO. This hotel is located in a place that has great views of Siena. After that, the rooms are clean, but nothing special. We have been regularly staying at Hotel Alma Domus in Siena four times in the last 15 years. Ask for a room with a view and you will have one of the most spectacular views of Siena. It is only a short walk to the central plaza El Campo. On one first two visits the rooms were spartan but clean and the front desk was peopled by nuns watching the Pope channel (Vatican channel) much as today's people are caught up staring at and tinkering with their smartphones. But the place has been spruced up a ... Read more

The most disappointing stop during our journey in Tuscany. The rooms at the back have no view and are very poor standard, beds are very hard and bathroom are basic. The breakfast is a real joke with plastic cups and very poor quality products like the orange juice or coffee. The pictures on the website do not reflect the reality that is quite disappointing. Just go there if you have a very limited budget and be very careful to the pics! good luck.

We stayed here 3 nights in Sept 2016 during our month long trip through Romania and Italy. This was the worst place we stayed. We had a room on the second floor with 2 single beds and that's about it. It was a terrible sterile room just below ground level. No place to hang towels in the bathroom. House rules prohibit doing laundry in your room or hanging clothes on the balcony. How do you enforce stupid rules like that? We did laundry, so there! We hung it in the bathroom to dry! Great hotel - easy walking distance from the centre ( the Campo). Also good location for wandering about and sightseeing. Bus station also walking distance. Room and bathroom clean and bed comfy. Wifi free, but often not a good connection. Very variable. Breakfast OK - very Italian - lots of cake and bread not up to northern European standards. Fruit, cheese and meat. Get an upgrade if possible ( 5 Euros) to get a view over the city - worth it! Reminder LOTS of slopes in Siena!

We paid a little more for the city view and it was so worth it! Breathtaking! Perfect location to explore Siena. Right next to the home of Saint Catherine and the church of Saint Dominic where Catherine prayed. Helpful staff, nice breakfast, quiet, and so clean! it was a highlight of our time in Italy. I would happily return there!
