My Wife & I spent 7 nights at this hotel. We stayed at it 10 years ago & then it was a Real 4/5 star hotel, both in facilities & décor. It appears the hotel has lost its way. The décor is tired & lacks character in both the Public areas & in the rooms. The whole hotel needs a "make over" We stayed in a suite, because it was at a reduced rate. Perhaps this should have told us something. Our room had the most spectacular view from the balcony, however, inside it was basic to say the least. Very ... Read more

Definitely a recommendable hotel. Yes, there is something they need to do asp: bed mattress and bed linens are not according for a place like this, hard and rusty, sadly was the worst bed in our trip in Italy; also the room décor and bathroom are dated, improve all those details to have an extraordinary estate; beyond that, visit this place to relax, enjoy a great view of the Tuscany and have wonderful meals. Breakfast was amazing, the best breakfast we had in our trip, excellent buffet with ve... Read more

Together with my wife we stayed for 2 nights, as part of a Relax Package. Since it was off-season my review cannot be complete: too many building were closed and we stayed in the main one who lacked original taste. Breakfast was great, plenty of space, the personnel was almost always friendly but I regret to say that at times they are not at a 4-star level.

We liked this hotel very much. The suites were clean and spacious. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant, and retired to a room with a stunning view of San Gimignano. The staff was very helpful and attentive. We did not think our bathroom was "dated" as mentioned in other reviews. The breakfast was lovely, and the hotel is a very short drive to San Gimignano proper.

We arrived at our hotel Le Renaie much to early and as we were going to eat every night at the hotel we wanted to go somewhere else for lunch that day. Having driven down from Florence I didn't wand to go too far. This hotel belongs to a group including Le Renaie so was recommended. This is a spa hotel so the smell of chlorine as we entered the very swish reception was a little off putting. The hotel were holding a conference but we were easily accommodated in a separate part of the dining room.... Read more

Excellent hospitality. The staff are extremely friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The views from the villa where we stayed was stunning. The breakfast was very good and there were spectacular views from the restaurant. I wish they had a wider selection of food for dinner but the meals we did eat there were very good.

Modern décor in public areas with beautiful Tuscan pottery on display. Some rooms had stunning views that can also be enjoyed also from the dining area! The rooms were modern, well maintained, beautifully furnished, and quiet. Two elevators serviced traffic movement quickly. Noticed a spa was available off the lobby area, but could not find a menu of spa services in our hotel room. In a facility this nice, not sure why management would not have highlighted these services by placing information... Read more

We made a last minute reservation at this hotel for a week at the beginning of July. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make us comfortable and help us enjoy the region. The hotel is set on a hill overlooking stunning countryside. There is a nice pool, gardens, and courtyards to sit in. The rooms are well sized and equipped, with a slightly old fashioned homely feel. For us the beds were too soft, and felt dated - sleep is so important on holiday, so this sh... Read more

We booked this hotel for our final evening in Italy. We arrived earlier than expected and our room wasn't ready, but we were given coffee and only had to wait about 20 minutes before we were shown to our room. We were in the main building, and like the reviews say, it could do with a little updating, but it was still pleasant and spotless. The pool area is lovely, and we had a really nice lunch by the pool also. Both my boyfriend and I got treatments in the spa, which were both absolutely great ... Read more

Decor of the rooms is modern. the pool has a wonderful setting with views out over the countryside. A cross between a villa and a hit, with the best of both. Great breakfast, with patio dining providing a panoramic view out over the rolling hills. Attentive staff. There is a spa with a pool and health parcours, for an extra charge. All usual spa services, including a fun feature...spa night once a week where it stays open till midnight. Not walking distance to San Gimignano, so you would nee... Read more

My husband and I just spent one week here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing! Beautiful, clean and pleasant staff. The grounds are immaculate and the location is perfect - 10 minute drive from San Gimignano. The food was wonderful and the spa was lovely. We had a great view of the town and they offer room service with a romantic setup if requested. I felt like I was at home! I would highly recommend to anyone for a relaxing week!!

We found this hotel under the most inauspicious circumstances. We were a party of seven (four adults, three youngsters of 12, 14 and 16). We had come from the U.S. and the U.K. We had just walked out of the hotel I had booked for us eleven months earlier (it was awful). What was a long-planned and much anticipated family holiday was facing disaster. After some hours of research on TripAdvisor and with the Michelin guide (this hotel has the highly-coveted and well-deserved three-star red rating)... Read more

I stayed here with my husband for 1 night only. The location of the hotel is a dream: outside the city of San Gimignano, up the hill in a very remote area. It's the perfect location to relax from the stress of the big cities. The pool and spa area are fabulous. The receptionist (long curly hair) who checked us in was very nice and showed us all the facilities the hotel had to offer. We would have loved it stay there at least a few more days.

First impression... Walked in and there were still stains on the toilet and shower. Something brown on the curtain next to the toilet (use your imagination). Then we noticed our "queen size bed" was 2 double beds pushed together with a large crack down the middle. The way they justified it was by saying "normally we have a memory foam topper but I guess we forgot it on your bed". -Lorenzo Most uncomfortable bed we have experienced all trip. That was just the beginning. We realized the air cond... Read more

Grounds are beautiful and the hotel staff is very professional. Quick ride to San Gimignano. They have a spa and wonderful restaurant. Would I stay here again? Yes!

We stayed at Villa Sanpaolo as part of our Tuscany trip in this August. The hotel is a very well fitted 4 star resort, which lives up to its 4 star standard and even slightly exceeds our expectation! Location - is unbeatable and it was the deciding fact for us to book this hotel. the positives are its location and views from some but not all rooms. the negatives are tat the premium rooms are small and of the standard of Premier Inn and the service in the restaurant was very poor one night The wifi is also poor Maybe it is the spa that gets the luxury standard but we didn't use this and without that I fail to see why this place is regarded as luxury and it is definitely over priced

Overall room and service were exceptional. Would say however the website pictures made the pool/spa area seem much larger. The steam room also had an odd smell, which steered us away from using it. On a positive end, scenery surrounding the resort is breathtaking and the staff were all extremely friendly/attentive to making our stay a wonderful one.
