We have just spent a most enjoyable weekend in Rome, staying at the Excelsior. The hotel is a magnificent stately building. Our room was immense with a small balcony overlooking the street. The common areas were beautifully appointed. Moreover t it was well situated: it was a pleasant walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountains. However the Wi-Fi system in the room was incomprehensible and the TV fluttered into life Worse still was the breakfast buffet. The options were poor. On my... Read more

The hotel is always excellent, however we were disappointed by the room service menu. Not only was nothing on it remotely Italian but it could very well have been a menu in a cardiac care unit of any hospital, There are three pages of tea. Tea? What kind of person goes to Rome for tea? The worst menu ever, and it was replicated in the hotel's restaurant (minus the tea).

Located adjacent to the US Embassy this hotel was once a place of grandeur with a wonderful marble entry and lobby, very large public areas adorned in marble and antiques, as well. The disappointment registered upon arriving in my room. For a luxury hotel the level of disrepair in the room and lack of cleanliness was quite evident. Grime and dirt around door knobs and light switches, chips and chunks out of paint and trim pieces, aging worn furniture. The reasonably equipped workout room/gym was... Read more

I have stayed there in November with a friend, our first 5 min in Rome / Hotel ruined our stay. The Reception Staff wasn't Smile, didn't even say welcome to the hotel, they didn't explain on offer the breakfast as wasn't included, The older lady i think that was a Manager didn't give any example to the receptionist. Didn't smile, didn't welcome she wasn't even looking at as then she "passed" us to receptionist a boy which didn't have even tie. The concierge wasn't nice either. Only the concierge... Read more

The Hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the Spanish steps and other attractions as well as the shopping area. Importantly it is within the Aurelian walls so the taxi fare from/to the airport is fixed rate which is excellent. The Lobby was nice and the staff are OK. The Room we stayed in was big and clean but looked old and tired. Especially the bathroom looked like it was from the 1980s. It definitely needs a renovation.

Stayed here for a weekend in Rome in Late Jan. Situated in a quieter, posh part of the city, next door to the US Embassy. Grandi entrance and some period features. Attentive staff (a bit too attentive when it came to room service knocking on the door both mornings, perhaps our fault for not hanging out the do not disturb sign) Room clean and HUGE comfy bed. Large bathroom with usual SPG toiletries. Room lacked an Iron, apparently common here due to health and safety regulations. Room was q... Read more

The hotel loby is very nice, a little bit classical , not modern, but relaxing . The rooms are big , relaxing beds, big windows, big restroom, however the carpet in the rooms is old and should be much better compared with the cost of stay. Food is ok, the barman is good and makes nice coctails. I redomend thia hotel, however i feel is overpriced. Service good and polite.

My husband was there for a conference and I tagged along for a sightseeing couple of days. I thought the hotel room was very comfortable and well supplied, if a little worn around the edges. I found the location a little far out, but still walkable to many of the sights. You should note that ironing boards/irons are not allowed in the rooms, so if you need to look well pressed, plan ahead and contact laundry services. All employees we encountered were polite and professional. The concierge was e... Read more
