Stayed at the Michelangelo 2 weeks ago. Great place to stay if visiting the Vatican, as just a few hundred metres away from the hotel. Nearest metro line is St Peters which is a good walk away, so best to get buses into city centre which there are plenty. Hotel is very clean & modern and staff very helpful & polite. Good breakfast selection each morning too. Only reason why I have gave 4* review is because I had emailed general manager on three separate occasions before my stay with a special r... Read more

We chose to stay in this hotel because of location and it offered free WiFi and breakfast. When we checked in we discovered that you have free WiFi for only 24 hours and that you can log in only ONCE on each of your 2 allowed devices. The rest of the time, if you want to check your messages you have to do it in the public computer located in the lobby. I believe that this fact should be stated in their web site and not to misrepresent this amenity by saying that the hotel offers free WiFi. Othe... Read more

We stayed here after traveling Europe for 3 weeks. Our welcome was just so so and we had an air conditioning issue with one of our rooms, we had two rooms, one for us and one for our daughters. The front desk assured us they were fixing it and finally did but it took 5 requests. This hotel usually gets great reviews and I will say that the restaurant staff was very nice but the front desk was less than welcoming and helpful. We would not choose to stay here again. We like friendlier people.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of May. The hotel is lovely and modern and is perfectly located to visit Vatican City. We had an issue when we arrived as we didn't have the credit card with us that we had made the booking on. It was our fault as it does say that on the booking but we had forgotten. Be warned though that they insist on having this and if you don't have it then they will take another card and charge it again for the full amount on check in and refund it on check out even th... My wife and spent 5 nights here. We found the location very convenient, close to St Peter's, to lots of buses and suburban train station. The hotel is modern and well equipped and the room, while lacking much character, was comfortable and very quiet. We had mild reservations about the breakfast; the fruit juice was disappointing and the cafe from the urn was not good. We learnt that freshly made coffee was available but the staff did not offer it. But overall we were happy with our stay, and th... Read more

This hotel could not have been more conveniently located to the Vatican. The room was clean, the staff were helpful and there was room enough for both us to move around with bumping into each other too often. I stayed here with my husband for 4 nights in June. The hotel is very clean and modern. The room was up on the 7th floor; sadly no view from our room and it was a bit small, however overall the room suited our needs and was quite. The ideal hotel for visiting the Vatican and St Peter‚??s in particular but also the other major sites in Rome. We had two bedrooms right next to each other in our own ‚??private‚?? section of the corridor. Our girls even had a balcony with a sideways view of St Peter‚??s. We stayed in August when much of Rome shuts down,so there was no street noise whatsoever. We even managed to get a free parking spot behind the hotel for the duration of our stay, a real plus. The rooms, though not massive, ar... Read more

The room was excellent, we had a balcony with a nice view. It is very close to the vatican and has shops and restaurants close by. The breakfasts were very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. We wanted a place outside of the main tourist area but still convenient to get to the major attractions. This was the place. Highly recommended.

Great stay at the star hotels Michelangelo. Rooms - 4/5 Rooms are nice. The only complaint was the double bed was really two twin beds pushed together, so we had to push them together before going to bed. Location 5/5 Located right across from Vatican City, literally. Ask hotel to organize the tour for you, very easy and did last second. Definitely a must do. The buses are very close and easy to jump on. Get a $1.50E pass (each) and jump on, but didn't seem that anyone was paying though (so ... Read more

Hotel was clean, rooms were comfortable and staff was very helpful, we were there during the canonization of Mother Theresa so it was packed but the staff were still very helpful! The location could not have been better, around the corner from the Vatican, restuarants were within walking distance.

Make sure you don't want to extend your stay, you will not be able to or if you can extend, be prepared to pay double or triple price rates. That extendability aside, incidentally which also highlights the demand for this hotel that is surely justified both in its location to St Peters Basilica as well as in the quality and in the cleanliness of this facility. The standard rooms are sufficient. However, I would recommend to arrange for a balcony on a higher floor, it's worth the additional cost.... Read more

Good location, walking distance from St Peter's Square and five to ten minutes by taxi from other main areas. Only two staff members from the reception desk and the bellman were helpful and professional. Very clean room, great job by housekeeping, my room was impeccable. Dinning room staff needs to improve their customer service skills.

We enjoyed our stay at the Michelangelo very much. A staff that is very interested to take care of tourists. Good access to the Vatican and several restaurants nearby. Not a great location if you are interested in the majority of the other sites within Rome.

Stayed at this property two nights and was impressed at the ambiance. Very attentive staff nice restaurant on the property serving buffet breakfast included in room cost. Located within walking distance to St Peters Basilica right in the heart of the city. Rooms are well appointed and beds very comfortable.

The hotel Michelangelo is an excellent modern hotel which with it`s location next to the Vatican ( you can see St Peters Dome from the hotel !) is perfect for visiting the Vatican city. The rooms whilst not being the biggest are perfect for two people on a short break or a single person on business. They are spotless and has everything you need except coffee and tea making facilities ( A must for British visitors). The breakfast is varied and freshly made and you can certainly start the day ful... Read more

This hotel is great if you want to visit the Vatican and its surrounds. Hotel rooms are clean and tidy but are too small. Hotel has only one restaurant. Food was not good. It was a bit expensive to dine in their restaurant and food was not that good. Being in Italy, you would expect food to be better. Even their breakfast spread was so ordinary - you felt you were in a convent. The only plus factor for me is that the rooms had modern furnitures as I am not a fan of the old and stuffy look... Very close to the Vatican (across the road) set in a residential area ... and far away from the main hub of hotels and tourists. Rooms lovely and new, good air-conditioning, large safety deposit box (can fit PC and handbags) and a minibar. Comfortable beds. Only downside were the new showers, strange design to ours as the shower doors had 2 panels with a slight gap in the middle. Needless to say, water leaked onto the bathroom floor and we had to keep mopping up after a shower. Breakfast bu... Read more

I stayed here because it was close to the Vatican, however its misleading, the actual tour locations to meet for your tour to the Vatican is a huge walk around to the completely other side, about a mile... The neighborhood of this hotel has ZERO to do or see. The hotel its self was very clean and modern, and the room was well designed for comfort. I also felt the hotel had a tour group feel and no personal charm, the staff was very helpful but not charming or going the extra mile. The front des... Read more

We visited Rome and stayed at this hotel...pics on Expedia looks really great but they are lobby pics and that's where is ends..room we stayed in was damaged and we reported but hotel did not do anything about it and we stayed in it for 3 more days also important to mention the size of the room - was very tiny we were struggling to open or luggage bags, so we used our bed to open our luggage bags - people at reception were lacking smiles.. location is okay but will definitely go for some other h... Rooms are clean, contemporary and relaxing. There is a small balcony that was lovely to sip coffee or a glass of wine. Complimentary breakfast was good, not fantastic though there were many options. The staff friendly and attentive. Fun stay and only a couple of short blocks to the Vatican!

This hotel is perfect for those who want to go to the Vatican. It is a 5-10minute walk. Lots of eating places nearby. Quiet residential area. You can see the dome of the basilica from the street fronting the hotel. Hotel itself is very nicely decorated. Comfortable accommodations. Breakfast buffet had a lot of selection and plenty seating. Staff were very courteous and pleasant. Overall good experience in our 2 night stay.
