We stayed at the Mecenate Palace for 4 days at the end of April following a 17-day transatlantic cruise. The hotel manager was pleasant and helpful. Our room was lovely, clean and quiet. The rooftop dining room is elegant and the service is great. Their complimentary breakfast spread is amazing and the coffee is wonderful! Marco, the lobby bartender, was friendly and made my husband's drink just the way he likes it. Great snacks are provided at happy hour time, too! The hotel is located ju... Read more

Great staff, great location, great room overall a superb place to stay. Only small complaint is that in the morning the shower isn't the hottest, bug honestly I'm nitpicking. If you can try to have breakfast on the terrace, not only is there a great selection to have the view is superb. In the evening it also doubles up as a very nice bar.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this great hotel. The position is very convenient being right opposite St Maria Maggiore, tour buses pass by the door and underground stations are close by. We had a superior room on the 5th floor and it was beautifully decorated and very very quiet. Roof top breakfast is mainly continental but very good and the staff are very attentive. From our first welcome to paying the bill we had a lovely time and I can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We are spoilt by standards in the Middle East where the rooms are huge so we find this cell like room very unpleasant but the location was great and the staff was pleasant. The food was third rate. I would only recommend it for the location which was very central without being too busy. Walking distance to the metro, buses and taxis and hundreds of trattorias. There was a roof top bar and dining area which was delightful and we were opposite the Santa Maria Maggiore Church the main Church in ... Read more

We stayed in this hotel ten years ago booking a suite and had a wonderful time. So, for this three day visit at the end of a cruise we though it would be great to do the same again. What a change! No turn down service in the hotel these days. On arrival the staff on duty were helpful by letting us have the room early. However, when you have had a train trip up form the port pulling big bags and got lost walking across to the hotel from Termini ( go out the main door and cross the road and ke... Read more

Great location, staff very helpful, the perfect place to come home to after a long day away. Metro close. Nice Terrence. Rooms are small but very nice. The church across the street is beautiful, the Pope happened to be there the day we checked in. Extra bonus.

A lovely hotel with a great view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Major. The rooms are comfortable with great facilities including coffee making. Loved the roof terrace although it was a little windy. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was first class.

Stayed at the Mecenate Palace Hotel in Rome in May. It is a wonderful hotel. The room was very clean, breakfast delicious and extensive, rooftop dining with terrific views of Santa Maria Maggiore next door. The staff was wonderful...so helpful... Be sure to ask for their recommendations for restaurants in the area. Also, the hotel restaurant was excellent. They provide coupons for happy hour and dining once you arrive. Metro is a short walk away, nice walk to Colleseum, San Clemente, St Peter in... Read more

Great location and the terrace was wonderful. Breakfast was very good and dinner as well. The rooms were small, but comfortable; however the designer of the shower/bath needs to rethink it. The shower guard only comes about a third the length of the tub, so I was constantly worried about flooding the bathroom (and it did ultimately occur). Still, a minor issue. Close to the train and with easy walking distance to many of the main sites or transportation (Roma Termini, Hop on/hop off, metro, bus... Read more

The hotel was great and in a central location. We asked for a view of Santa Maria Maggiore and it's worth it. The views are breathtaking. The rooftop is also a must do. We only had breakfast here and they had a good selection. The food was tasty and service was fine.

I was not looking forward to Rome as I had not found very good hotels on two prior holidays here. Third time lucky. This hotel offered an upgrade from an executive room to a top floor suite for 30 euros more per night. "Room" 557 is not for those with leg, heart or lung problems as it is up a long spiral stair case beyond the reach of the elevator but for anyone else it is a gem. This suite has a large living room with table and 4 chairs, a sofa, two sofa chairs, fireplace, a good sized and... Read more

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel and booked through the hotel's own website. We got an upgrade to a deluxe room with a view of the Santa Maria Maggiore on the fifth floor, and breakfast was included. We also booked a taxi transfer on arrival in Rome through the hotel. Both the city tax and the taxi transfer had to be paid in cash at the end of our stay. The hotel is in an excellent central location for sightseeing. We walked everywhere except to the Vatican. I am so glad we booked a tour to the ... Read more

We had booked the "apartment" because there was 4 of us and got there late at night. The "apartment" is not in the actual hotel...it is a next door in a rundown building that looks like a fire trap. It was a second floor walkup that had three doors that took three different keys to use to just get to the door. That was a red flag there. the "apartment" only has one real bed, the other two are rollaway cots. One shower and it's upstairs. It being late, we had no choice to stay, but early th... Read more

If you want a hotel with a bit of character and old world charm this fits the bill. It is not super modern nor necessarily kept perfectly maintained but it is charming and the bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. It is in a perfect location in the centre of the old city, everything from the Colosseum to the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona are within walking distance. Booked this hotel as we had a previous good experience. Arrived exhausted at the hotel in 100 degree heat only to be told there had been an error and the hotel had booked the wrong dates. They said it was their fault and offered us an alternative hotel nearby. We were most disappointed that they had not bothered to tell us before we arrived despite having our email contact. I take a long time to make my choice of hotel so I was really upset to have someone else's choice given to me. I shall nev... Read more

The room was very dark and small and not as in the pictures we saw when made booking. The bathroom is also tiny and not comfortable. At check-in they even forgot to give us Wi-Fi password. Late check out until 2 p.m. was also charged as extra.  The only thing we liked about this hotel is breakfast in a rooftop cafe with a view over Rome. You can find better options for accomodation in Rome.

We needed a nice hotel near the termini train station, and this was it! Easy to walk 3 blocks from the terminal to the hotel with our suitcases, having just landed at the Rome airport. Room was small, neat and air conditioned - a must in the hot Italian summer. Stayed here for a weekend break with my Mum. Hotel was lovely right in the centre of town, however our room was a bit old fashioned and chintzy. This didn't really matter as it was only a base for exploring. The buffet breakfast on the roof terrace was fab, had both hot English breakfast food as well as the cold continental meats and cheeses. I would stay here again. The first 2 pictures are the view from our huge picture window.

This is not a budget hotel and we had points to use to stay here. It was a treat for the last day of our Italian trip and a 5-10 min from the train station. The rooms are old school Classico, with fabric walls that match the curtains and headboards! Breakfast is included on the patio on the roof too. Helpful staff and great location to the metro. Maybe an older crowd, but a treat of a stay.

The hotel was perfect for our stay. It was a less than ten minute walk from Termini Station. Airports Fiumicino & Ciampino, buses will take you directly to Termini Station for under ?5 each. The staff at the hotel were polite and efficient. We had booked two rooms through a travel agency, one of which was to have twin beds for teenagers. We stayed at the Mecenate Palace for one night en route to Civitavecchia to pick up our cruise.
