The hotel is good value for money and has a good location in Rome. It is not a large hotel and is situated on a street with other small hotels and restaurants. We had booked a standard room which was very nice, it wasn't a large room but we only stayed for 3 nights so it suited us. The bathroom was very modern and high spec with a really nice shower. We were pleased at how comfortable the bed was and that we had extra pillows. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room but that w... Read more

We stayed at the Marcella Royal for 3 nights in April. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful with our tourist needs. Our room was a little disappointing and the window opened out into a shared courtyard with many other high rise buildings. We could also smell cigarette smoke frequently. To be fair, we could of asked to be moved to a better room but we figured we were going to be out most of the time so didn't worry too much. It was a little hard to snuggle up at night though as the ... Read more

My partner and I stayed here after a last minute plan to get away. The hotel is in a very quiet street and on entering the lobby the reception area is unassuming but pleasantly welcoming. We were quickly shown to our room and the reception staff and bell boy were very polite and helpful. The hotel has a fantastic rooftop terrace which must be rated as one of the best in Rome. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 28th April 2016. The hotel is amazing. Small hotel with excellent, knowledgeable friendly staff who went out of their way to help you. We had a room on the 6th floor which had recently been redecorated. It was on a corner site so was large, comfortable and had 2 windows. Very clean and tidy and it was cleaned on a daily basis. The roof terrace was a lovely place to relax after a long day walking and sight seeing. You can see for miles over the roof tops... Read more

This was our 2nd visit to the hotel and it was still a great hotel. This time we stayed in a triple room and it was a triple with 3 actual beds (not blow ups like in other places). We stayed on the first floor so it was a little noisy at night, restaurants over the road, bit that's because we chose to keep the window ajar. Beds were comfortable with extra pillows and blankets available. Decor in the room was great, I have seen some outdated pictures, but I think they are been updated slowly.... Read more

Lovely hotel. We had a beautiful room, recently renovated, and enjoyed our stay. We were very impressed by the concierge(s), who gave us every help we could have needed. The rooftop breakfast room is a great experience, providing good views over the city. We were not able to eat in the hotel, but the concierge reserved a table for us at a nearby family restaurant, which provided great food at a good price. The hotel is close to Rome's main station, providing access to the port at Civitavecchia.

We just completed a 3 night stay in Rome at the Marcella Royal Hotel and were very impressed with the hotel and the service. We stayed in a superior room and loved the room. The hotel has the old world charm we were looking for in Italy. The location was good. A 10-15 min walk to Trevi Fountain once we found our way around. This is barely a 3 star hotel, though you would have to be indulget and not very pretentious to give it that much. The double standard room is very small, you can hardly walk around the bed, the furniture and finishings are outdated, the bathroom hasn't been renovated in ages. Our room faced an interiour court, probably common with some blocks of flats, so the view was terrible and it was noisy, we kept it closed all the time. There are also lots of decent restuarants within 5-10 minutes walk. The rooms are very nice spread over 6 floors. The best feature of the hotel is the roof top bar / dining area. It was nice to have breakfast in the sun and have a few drinks after a day of sightseeing. The only negative point would be the delay in che... Read more

We stayed in one of the standard rooms for 4 nights at the beginning of August. This hotel was perfect in so many ways. We arrived and were given a warm welcome with a short brief on the hotel and the roof terrace/breakfast. The concierge also gave us a map and circled all the main attractions he would recommend, ones we were already planning on seeing plus others. The room was ideal for us. Incredibly clean and good air conditioning. The hotel was quiet and located in a back street but in wal... Read more

Really enjoyed my stay here, people helpful thru the whole hotel. Rooms are clean and very Roman. The roof top bar is magic, sunset is so nice. I would tell people about how lovely it is. Only down side they suggested the pink hop on and off bus which was rubbish. Don't not waste your money on this. Breaky was nice and coffee was yummy

Stayed in a superior room on the second floor. Fantastic staff and room was lovely. Would recommend in a flash. 20 min walk into the center and 10 mins from the train station. Had a problem with a noisy fan in the ceiling and was moved into another room no problem. Had a great weekend.

We stayed here, with friends, for 7 nights and cannot begin to tell just how much we enjoyed this hotel. From the minute we arrived we were impressed not only by the service we received but by the cleanliness of the hotel in general. Both of our double rooms were large, comfortable, and had very quiet air conditioning (which we needed after spending our days in the centre of Rome at 40+ degrees). Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was excellent, we also enjoyed sitting up there for drinks in the e... Read more

My partner and I stayed at the terrific Marcella Royal Hotel 8/27 thru 9/4. This boutique style hotel is perfectly situated in a quiet area of Rome, walking distance to many of the major attractions and historical sights. Granted some points of interests may be a 25 minute walk or more. Be sure to bring comfortable shoes to walk the city streets. Otherwise, everything is short taxi ride away. From the moment we walked in the lobby, we knew we were in for a nice treat. With its old world ch... Read more

Visit to the Marcella Royal Hotel ‚?? 22nd to the 26th August 2016 with Jet2.com We stayed for four nights in the Marcella Royal in a Superior Double Room on the 6th Floor which had a view over the rooftops towards St Peters. The room was equipped with a large, comfortable double bed and all fittings, furnishings and decoration were of a good modern standard and there was efficient air conditioning. A free to use room safe was included and free WiFi worked well. The room was en-suite but wi... Read more

We have recently returned home from a fabulous stay at this hotel. We stayed here back in 2013 and have wanted to return here. The hotel just can't do enough to make a stay here perfect. The icing on the cake is the roof terrace for breakfast and also for drinks in the evening. The views across Rome are spectacular! Salvatore makes such excellent cocktails and long drinks too! Another good reason to stay here is the location is good for excellent dining in the evenings after treading the s... Read more

Beautiful hotel. Staff was amazing. They helped us with confirmations and went over and above in customer excellence. They were warm, kind and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Upstairs deck had breathtaking views. Breakfast was plenty and a nice variety. We would highly recommend!

We found this hotel online, and were particularly attracted to it by the roof terrace with panoramic views. Although very nice, I'd recommend eating breakfast inside, as you can still see out the windows but aren't bothered by the extremely persistent hornet-type insects that want to share your food! The breakfast itself was good, providing a nice selection - including bacon and scrambled egg, which you don't always find in hotels with continental-style breakfast - as well as cereals, meat and c... The staff at Marcella Royal was superb. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was on a quieter street yet within walking distance to the Colosseum, Trevi. The bed was a little firm, but the room was very clean! A beautiful view from the roof at breakfast and a night time cocktail. We would go back. Grazie!

Great hotel , good rooms a fair close to all the major attractions the roof terrace is a definite plus,a lovely place for breakfast ( which is really good) and a good place to relax at the end of the day. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the railway station on a quite road. There are several good Resturant just down the road ideal at the end of a long day.

Stayed there for four nights paying £635 for a standard double room. Pricey enough. It's rated four stars and I'd say that's right. Our standard room was fine, not spacious but equally not tiny. The room and bathroom well furnished, very clean and had an olde world feel to it rather than modern. Shower was over bath, not separate. Room had blackout shutters and AC worked fine. The hairdryer in the bathroom was poor, I never used it but my wife was disappointed she didn't bring her own. Loca... Read more

We began our honeymoon in Rome, at the Marcella Royal. I don't have enough nice things to say about the staff, the rooms, the atmosphere and the location. The rooftop bar is idyllic for a scenic breakfast before exploring the city; it transforms to a cozy bar after the day's sightseeing is done. The rooms have an old Roman charm to them - you don't feel like you are in a commercial, chain hotel at all. The location is perfect if you want to be within walking distance of some sights, but avoid al... Read more

Lovely place to visit, we had room 630 and just want to point out that the bed is located near the door so when opened you had visability of the corridoor when partner is still in bed and you are going out for cuppa not so good. You may also be woken with the noise from the chairs being moved about as you are underneath the breakfast terrace. The shower cubile is located in the picture in right hand corner of the photo and can cause an issue with water leaking on the carpet. Breakfast buffet ... Read more

I cant say enough about this hotel. The staff are fantastic, the breakfast is fantastic and the rooms are amazing. It is close to all bus routes including the one to the Vatican. The Metro is also a stones throw away.

The hotel is conveniently only a few hundred metres from Termini station - ideal for the Metro or buses if you've done too much walking! Our room was quite adequate for a few days, with a comfortable bed. It was rather compact and lacking in clothes hangers, though the bathroom was big enough. I have to say that the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Excellent for a short break.

We first stayed at the Marcella 3 years ago. We decided then that it was pretty much in a league of it's own and that, if ever we returned to Rome, we would stay there again. Well, we returned to Rome and so we stayed again at the Marcella. We were not disappointed. Before we left England, the reception staff had arranged for a car to collect us from Fiumincino (soon-to-be Da Vinci) airport. On arrival, they checked if we needed anything, if we wanted to book any trips, tickets or anything els... Read more

We were very pleased with this hotel - the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly as well as efficient. The room was spotless with the sheets being changed every day and the roof garden is a delight to sit in and relax with a drink after a day's sight-seeing. If you need help with booking trips, getting taxis or just somewhere nice to eat, the staff are very helpful.

Nice hotel - good location, but a lil further out from the main stuff. Rooms were small. Claim of the view of the dome is a stretch. Patio was nice, breakfast was decent. Beds weren't great. Unless you like harder mattresses.
