The hotel is good value for money and has a good location in Rome. It is not a large hotel and is situated on a street with other small hotels and restaurants. We had booked a standard room which was very nice, it wasn't a large room but we only stayed for 3 nights so it suited us. The bathroom was very modern and high spec with a really nice shower. We were pleased at how comfortable the bed was and that we had extra pillows. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room but that w... Read more

Lovely hotel and friendly, accommodating staff. Very comfy, clean and rooftop terrace bar is a great place to relax. It has all the features of a grand hotel but on a smaller scale and price. Lobby decor is dignified and front desk oozes of old world charm.

We stayed at the Marcella Royal for 3 nights in April. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful with our tourist needs. Our room was a little disappointing and the window opened out into a shared courtyard with many other high rise buildings. We could also smell cigarette smoke frequently. To be fair, we could of asked to be moved to a better room but we figured we were going to be out most of the time so didn't worry too much. It was a little hard to snuggle up at night though as the ... Read more

My partner and I stayed here after a last minute plan to get away. The hotel is in a very quiet street and on entering the lobby the reception area is unassuming but pleasantly welcoming. We were quickly shown to our room and the reception staff and bell boy were very polite and helpful. The hotel has a fantastic rooftop terrace which must be rated as one of the best in Rome. Location to all the main attractions is excellent with the metro only a 10 min walk away. There are a couple of nice re... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 28th April 2016. The hotel is amazing. Small hotel with excellent, knowledgeable friendly staff who went out of their way to help you. We had a room on the 6th floor which had recently been redecorated. It was on a corner site so was large, comfortable and had 2 windows. Very clean and tidy and it was cleaned on a daily basis. The roof terrace was a lovely place to relax after a long day walking and sight seeing. You can see for miles over the roof tops... Read more

This was our 2nd visit to the hotel and it was still a great hotel. This time we stayed in a triple room and it was a triple with 3 actual beds (not blow ups like in other places). We stayed on the first floor so it was a little noisy at night, restaurants over the road, bit that's because we chose to keep the window ajar. Beds were comfortable with extra pillows and blankets available. Decor in the room was great, I have seen some outdated pictures, but I think they are been updated slowly.... Read more

Lovely hotel. We had a beautiful room, recently renovated, and enjoyed our stay. We were very impressed by the concierge(s), who gave us every help we could have needed. The rooftop breakfast room is a great experience, providing good views over the city. We were not able to eat in the hotel, but the concierge reserved a table for us at a nearby family restaurant, which provided great food at a good price. The hotel is close to Rome's main station, providing access to the port at Civitavecchia.

If you are looking for a well situated hotel that is value for money this is just the ticket. Great roof terrace and very well informed and friendly staff add to your short stay experience. Breakfast buffet is served on the roof terrace and sundowners and cocktails are available until late in the evening.

Hotel was great. Great location. Within walking distance to most popular locations. Staff are awesome! Very helpful with advice re: areas to visit, how to get there, etc. Bartenders on the beautiful terrace were wonderful also. Very friendly and chatty. Loved our stay there.

I chose this hotel because of the roof top terrace and we weren't disappointed - it was a fabulous place to unwind at the end of a busy day sightseeing and the bar staff, especially Salvatorie, provided great service and a wealth of knowledge. We had to move bedrooms after the first night due to a leak in the bathroom, but the staff were more than accommodating and moved us to a superior room which was very nice but didn't have the view that we had originally on the 6th floor. We just completed a 3 night stay in Rome at the Marcella Royal Hotel and were very impressed with the hotel and the service. We stayed in a superior room and loved the room. The hotel has the old world charm we were looking for in Italy. The location was good. A 10-15 min walk to Trevi Fountain once we found our way around. The roof top terrace was my favorite place to have breakfast in the morning, a cocktail before going out to dinner, and a cup of tea at night. Beautifully decorated and... Read more

Stayed here for a long weekend. Great location - walkable from the station. Helpful and friendly check in and newly refurbished bedrooms. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. We ate out somewhere different every night at the hotel does not have anything in the evening beyond light snacks. Great location, quiet at night and helpful advice on sightseeing from reception each morning. No kettle or iron in room but launderette and cafe nearby.

We found this hotel perfect for our needs. Good location, very friendly helpful staff and immaculately clean. Our bedding was changed every day and the room was cleaned thoroughly. We would most certainly stay at this hotel again. The reception staff were extremely helpful in arranging taxis, giving advice on restaurants and arranging tours/trips.

I really loved this hotel, so many great points to list and only a few negatives. Firstly, its not too showy and stuck up which is what i like, all staff are so friendly especially the guys that work the little bar on the rooftop terrace and the reception. We did pay extra for an upgraded room which was modernised, couldn't fault it and i would recommend you do if you can afford it. Stayed here with my Wife and 5 month old son. We booked a Junior Suite on the 5th floor and were pleasantly surprised to be given the corner room (530). Room was excellent with 2 balconies, a comfortable bed and spacious living area (which was fantastic for relaxing after a long day whilst still being able to keep an eye through the glass doors on our son). Would really like to give it 4 1/2 stars. The great: helpful staff to novice travelers, awesome location, near termini station and Bernini's Ectasy of St Theresa at Santa Maria Della Vittoria, more or a quiet residential neighborhood, lots of local restaurant choices and the best gelato place we tried in Rome across the street (La Romana). Also, the rooftop is a good place for drinks (prices ok), but it was a great place to start your day for breakfast. The good: we had 2 rooms that were suffici... Read more

This was a treat for our wedding anniversary. On arrival into the airport we had no transfers booked so planned to get a taxi. We were approached by a man with a sign around his neck saying Taxi. I asked how much the taxi would cost and was advised standard price. On arriving into Rome was charged 95 euros this was double in what a white taxi would cost which was on average £48 euros. We were transferred to the Marcella via another hotel that had issues with their rooms. The hotel was dated, and the rooms very small. My boyfriend, who is 5'10, had his feet hanging off the end of the bed. On our second morning, someone walked into our room unannounced at 7am whilst we were still asleep. We both woke up screaming and to do this day am not sure if it was housekeeping or a murderer. The manager of the hotel assured me it was housekeeping, however, this after initially telling u... We were warmly greeted by a smiling gentleman at the reception desk. The rest of our stay at the Marcella Royal Hotel (3 nts) kept us smiling! The room was at the end of the hall on the 1st floor (one above ground level). The room's walls (126) are covered in a floral embossed gold paper and offered two very comfortable beds under a modest chandelier. Our room did not look as nice as the pictures so I'm assuming that the hotel has renovated and old rooms. And by old, the bellhop tried to fix our noisy air conditioning unit by banging on it. (He said he would have maintenance fix it tomorrow. The irony is that he knew we were staying only one night.). Service was good and the breakfast was surprisingly nice!

This is barely a 3 star hotel, though you would have to be indulget and not very pretentious to give it that much. The double standard room is very small, you can hardly walk around the bed, the furniture and finishings are outdated, the bathroom hasn't been renovated in ages. Our room faced an interiour court, probably common with some blocks of flats, so the view was terrible and it was noisy, we kept it closed all the time. Breakfast is poor, though the terrace is indeed nice.
