The Kolbe hotel is in a fabulous location to explore the city from, a 10 min walk around one corner and your at the forum and the collesseum, the same time in the other direction and your at the Circus Maximus. 15 min walk and your in the Trastevere area (packed with restaurants) the shopping area and Spanish steps are also within walking distance. We walked a serious number of miles a day over our 5 night stay, there is so much to explore and personally i found this the best way to get my beari... Read more

We had a good stay in this four star hotel, located face to face to the Palatine. We had our lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant. excellent food and good service. our room was large, c... Our roomd was large, clean and looking direct into the Palatin , the place where the Roma histori began more than 2.000 years ago. The staff in all departments are very friendly and professional. There is a dream garden where we had our breakfast in the morning starting in a best way our day. We had also the lunch in the garden the food was good and the ser... Read more

Found through a travel consultant and we chose because of the location near the Forum. It isn't easy to access the Forum area from the hotel, though, because there is no entrance on the hotel side. However we don't mind walking and it is a nice area. Love the location for seeing the ancient sites. And easy walk to Trastavere for dinner which we loved doing. Need a car for going to many other places in Rome, though. Our rooms were fine - good size and clean. Bathrooms were lovely. Bedding... Read more

I stayed at the Kolbe for 2 nights and I had a lovely time. It is centrally located, next to the Coliseum, the Forum and Piazza Venezia, as well as the Jewish Ghetto. Though it is centrally located, the entrance is on a small side street, which makes it just a little quieter and more reserved. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, with tips, direction and check in late at night. The room was nice and the bathroom/shower had great pressure as well as "jacuzzi style" bathtub. The best par... Read more

I stayed at Kolbe for just one night earlier this week. I was so impressed with the staff, the grounds (omg, gorgeous garden!), the room, and the breakfast! I had a standard room and it was big--even for US standards--with high ceilings and large windows. Bed was comfy--felt like a tempurpedic type mattress--and bathroom was nice and clean. The best part of Kolbe is its location--tucked away in the middle of it all.

After literally running out of another hotel in the middle of the night due to mold, Kolbe took us in and made the whole awful ordeal with the other hotel a distant memory. Staff was beyond pleasant and accommodating. Great location, super clean! Will definitely stay at Kolbe when we return to Rome. Easy walk to Trastevere....a great at night with, many wonderful restaurants.

Stayed two nights in a Quadruple Room. The room was 2 floors and was immaculately kept with a view of the garden. The location could not have been better with the Palatine hill across the street and the Tarpeian Rock entrance to the Forum/Campidoglio down the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. If I go back to Rome I will definitely stay here again.

Good points: Efficient reception, large average rooms with either a view of the garden or Roman Forum, accommodating staff (especially Maurizio at the bar and Andrea/Francesca at the front desk). The rooms are cleaned well each day and early too. Challenges: The staff don't seem happy to work there. It shows in their attitude and efforts. The breakfast was mediocre. The location is a distance to the metro but close to the Forum, Colosseum other sites. I never met a manager either. Wo... Read more

We stayed 5 nights at the Kolbe. The hotel is located right in the heart of the Roman ruins - walking distance to Palatine Hill, Colosseum, Forum, etc. We enjoyed the location of the hotel very much. The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. Beautiful open air courtyard to eat breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was very good, although they had Nescafe machine for coffee, which was not the best. I enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning, so was very disappointed in that! The staff were v... Read more

Whilst location good we found front desk staff off hand and abrupt. The first such time after 5 weeks in Italy. Our first night we found very noisy and our bed extremely hard. We requested an upgrade to a better room which overlooked the garden. Farmers market in same street on the weekend. Also a great patisserie .

This hotel charges the same as equally starred hotels in much better locations. You think it would offer better service at least. We stayed on a stifling hot summer evening to return at 11.00 pm after dinner to find the air conditioning not working. The response at the front desk was 'well the panel here shows it is on in your room; I can reset it but if that doesn't work I can't call the technician till the morning'. But when my husband went down a few minutes later to complain again, miraculou... Read more

Loved staying in a converted monastery...great for our teenagers on their first trip to Rome. Room was very clean and spacious. We faced the road below, which was a little noisy but not overly busy. This is a GREAT location since it's off the beaten path, but a quick cut-through Campidoglio and you're in the heart of the city. Loved seeing portions of ancient Rome right outside our window. Staff was outstanding and always helpful.

I booked the hotel as it was pretty close to "Circo Massimo" The receptionist was quite cold. Fine, as it was a very hot day :o/ As I checked in I noticed the air condition was not working in my room. I informed the receptionist and I was assured that, after a few clicks on her keyboard, "Now it's working and furthermore I'll send a colleague to check" Needless to say it was not working for the whole night and I had to spend sweating. This hotel is deceptively large. When there, you get the feeling you're at a small, boutique hotel with just a few rooms, but it can actually accommodate quite a few. Our room was of a decent size and comfortable. The view of the ancient part of the city was amazing (and we could see Circus Maximus, meaning we got a free concert while there). Two small single beds, without mattress protectors and mattress covers that were saggy and baggy making for a lumpy and uncomfortable sleep in a room roadside (close to the forum). People walking past during the day and continual nighttime roman traffic to add to the chaos. Shower over bath which means water everywhere on the floor. Towels thin and ... Read more
