Everyone we met during our stay at Hotel Stendhal was friendly and helpful, none of the moodiness and snobbery I am familiar with from living in France. The gentleman in the bar, Valerio, was particularly charming and helpful. It was great to discuss Italian life and politics with him.

This is quote a late review from back in 2009. We stayed at this hotel in the middle of rome. pretty much walked to everywhere. Hotel itself was beautifully decorated. very nice and rich breakfast in a rather cute setting. Service was excellent. Room was on a small side but hey, you're in Rome and you're bound to get out for sight seeing. size of room did not matter to us. overall it was an excellent stay. loved it.

The hotel is strategically located at del tritone, very near to many attractions, it's walking distance to Trevi and Spagna. Also walking distance to Barberini metro station for less than 5 mins. The room (104) is a bit small but still ok, enough space to open up my 3 luggages in the same time, 1 large, 1 med and 1 cabin. The bed is only queen size or smaller i'm not sure, smaller than the other hotels I've stayed during my trip, however it's still enough for 2 people to sleep on, but I need lar... Read more

Had a very good 2 night stay in Stendhal recently. Location is fantastic - 1 min from Barberini station, 5 to 8 min walk to Spanish steps and Trevi fountain. Room is clean and pretty spacious, and service was really friendly and good. There's even a turndown service! Breakfast is sumptuous and served in a nice setting with light well. Slight downsides: our bed was made up of 2 single mattresses - but still a comfortable sleep. Room facing the road is slightly noisy - you will know when Rome wak... Read more

We wanted somewhere convenient for sightseeing and this is a great location. The main hotel is on Via Del Tritone but we had booked rooms in the brand new annex around the corner. The rooms were nicely appointed and for a city center they were quiet. The annex has a very small breakfast room that served a continental style breakfast. It was adequate but not comfortable or particularly inviting. The breakfast area in the main hotel looked much nicer. The staff were friendly and helpful. The... Read more

We enjoyed five days at the Stendhal at the end of May and then a sixth when we returned from a trip to Tuscany. This is a lovely small hotel in the heart of Rome. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very quiet. Our second room included a rooftop deck with a table and four chairs that offered a great city view of the roofs of Rome. The staff at the Stendahl is uniformly helpful and delivers above and beyond the ordinary service. I had lost my laptop at the airport and one of the staff me... Read more

Arrived at the hotel on June 26th, was greeted by a very rude gentleman at the reception. We asked if our room was ready/ if he could help us book tickets to the colosseum, he replied with an abrupt "no" to both requests. Shortly after 2pm, we were permitted to check into our rooms. The rooms are EXTREMELY tiny (at least 602 & 603) and the shower is even smaller (see attached picture). Some of the few pros of this hotel is the breakfast, which is free and delicious and they did send up a complim... Read more

We had an exceptional experience at this hotel. Excellent reception, bedroom and breakfast. Everyone was very kind and ready to help us. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, near the most interesting places to visit in the city. Mr Suraj made us feel as at home.

My daughters and I stayed at the Hotel Stendhal for five nights beginning on June 24th. The hotel was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was very nice. We were very comfortable. And, the location is PERFECT. So close to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Termini. The staff was friendly, but not too helpful when I had questions. Overall, I highly recommend!

Well appointed rooms and great service. The staff was extremely helpful with dining recommendations, the hotel breakfast, and trying to help us find an electrical adaptor. We'd like to personally thank Valereo for making our stay a great experience, especially for our girls. Valereo was always ready with water, snacks, a glass of wine, and some conversation when we returned from our site seeing and tours. Thanks for a wonderful stay in Rome!

The Stendhal is a lovely hotel in a quiet location near both the Spanish Steps & the Trevi Fountain. My room was impeccably clean & quiet from street noise. Service was lovely, including the concierge who walked me around the corner to a restaurant so I wouldn't get lost. This sort of personal touch makes you want to go back again. They also provided for my gluten free needs very easily. I have 2 tiny pieces of feedback: it would be lovely have a box of tissues provided in the rooms, not just... Read more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Stendhal for 4 nights, and was checked in by Marco who was very hospitable and we were given a room upgrade with a terrace which was lovely, unfortunately the next day we changed rooms due to the air conditioner and once again we dealt with Marco and he seemed only to want us to be comfortable and that it was no trouble so thank you for that. The staff were very helpful pointing out places to go on the maps that they gave you. Valerio was a lovely gentleman w... Read more

I stayed here for four nights from 10th July - 14th July and had a lovely stay. The staff are wonderful and attentive. In particular Vincenzo who advised us on places to go as well as the local restaurant that he walked us to, a nice personal touch. He paid so much attention and gave us 5 * service. Marco behind the desk helped with a taxi to the airport upon leaving. Breakfast however is where Stendhal falls behind to 4 * rather than 5 *, more of a variety each day would be great as well as opt... Read more

Hotel is very cozy, wifi and air conditioning work well. The hotel was very clean on arrival as well as the lounge area. The location is perfect walking distance to a lot of must see tourist attractions. Outside of the hotel has a few restaraunt/bars that are open late even during the week (we were jet lagged and woke up at 12:30am for dinner and wine on a sunday) the street is very lively at all hours and very safe. Rooms are all noise-proof so you can get a good nights rest. Breakfast buffet ... Read more

In comparison to the look of our stay in Venice and Florence hotels we chose, we expected this hotel to not be as great. It turns out the rooms are well kept and clean. Although the look is not as modern, the bathrooms are updated. The staff here is very accommodating and nice. They provided us a complimentary wine bottle, made reservations, made cab arrangements, and always made sure we were okay. It's not far from the Trevi fountain. It's a good location and I highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the Stendhal mid July and we absolutely loved it! EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE treated us like family! Whenever shifts changed everyone seemed to know who we were and asked if we needed anything. The front desk help was amazing! Excellent dinner and food recommendations, confirming tour plans, etc! The bartenders were absolutely welcoming and helpful, the maid service was fast and were at your disposal for everything! I can not say enough about this small boutique hotel with a b... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for one night before our flight back to Hong Kong the next day. It is very centrally located - you can walk to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps within 10 minutes. The metro station Barberini is also nearby. The room has a decent size and is modernly decorated. It is clean and comfortable. There're no much views from the windows - you can see the neighbours next doors. Breakfast was included in the rate and were served in the bar/lounge area opposite to the reception. Th... Read more

Room was nice. Slightly smaller than expected but was still lovely. Decor was different to what I was used to but it was comfortable and everything matched well. Bathroom was a nice size and I loved the fact the showers were hot. Sometimes hotels only have water up to lukewarm temperature so that was a plus for me. Another favourite thing I enjoyed was to open the balcony windows it just added to the rooms atmosphere. lt felt really good to be able to fully open the windows and enjoy the vie... Read more

We loved everything about this hotel, especially the location, the staff, our room, and the price. It is only a block from the Metro and the bus stop. Close walking distance to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, charming streets, and restaurants. The staff was very professional but also friendly and very helpful. Our room was exceptionally clean with a lovely décor and the bathroom was spacious and well done. We enjoyed the window that opened onto the street below that had lots of activity but was... Don't bother with VIP Package.I was dismayed over the last minute confusion over who was to pay for my transportation to the airport and stuck with a 55 Euro tab at the curb at the airport. Imagine my surprise when the driver asked me to pay, and in cash/no credit card - this after the hotel had arranged for the transportation themselves as part of the VIP package. Since I arrived Rome via train and took a short taxi to the hotel they assured me in writing prior to arrival that my travel to the ... Read more
