I stayed at Hotel Solis based on other reviews and it did not disappoint. Traveling with my mother made a hotel near key sites (Colosseum, Roman Form, Capitoline Hill, Plaza Venezia, etc.) , to ease her accessibility, without being too pricey very important. Hotel Solis was the perfect choice. The hotel room (standard double) was small, but this is typical of hotel rooms in Europe. Most importantly it was clean and staff friendly and attentive. Someone was always at the front desk and willing t... Read more

Right by the Colosseum and forum. Clean but small, nice little balcony looking out to a courtyard. AIr conditioning. Perfect for what we needed and wanted. Lots of good food surrounding it. We were able to walk any sites in Rome in 15 minutes.

For the price, this is a nice little hotel. The room is very small, but clean and comfortable. Our room had wooden floors and red walls and bedding, it was pretty. The free breakfast is a nice touch. One of the best things about this hotel is its proximity to the Colosseum, it is just down the street. For such a great location, this hotel is a great value.

This is the second time of visiting Hotel Solis. The last time was 10 years ago. We returned primarily because of the location, just 5 mins walk from the Colosseum. The room was very adequate, clean, well serviced, has a fridge, shower worked well with plenty of hot water, toiletries provided....clean towels daily. The rooms are sound proofed...our bedroom faced the Via Cavour and traffic noise didn't wake us. The icing on the cake is Claudia serving complimentary breakfast each morning with her... Read more

This was our first time visiting Hotel Solis and we will definitely be coming back! Its the perfect location to explore Rome from, right down the road from the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and 5 minutes walk to Piazza Venezia. Always clean, staff always friendly and speak very good English. Breakfast was continental, which we expected. The rooms are particularly large as they are all supposed to be disabled access rooms - the only complaint is the lighting is quite bad and our double bed was actua... Read more

We had a wonderful room with a balcony overlooking a courtyard off the back of the hotel. Very quiet and peaceful, though we were in the center of Rome within 2 blocks of the Forum and the Colosseum. Breakfast was great with eggs, meat, bread, and the best coffee I've had in ages. The wifi was good, and we had no problem connecting. My only criticisms would be that the bed was a little hard, and we only had a shower, no bathtub. The staff were very helpful and courteous.

Nice hotel very close to Roman forum. Very clean and well maintained. Woman in the breakfast room was very nice and always asked if we wanted a coffee when we arrived. AC Worked well. Wifi was fast. Would recommend to anyone staying in Rome and interested in the forum. Just a few short steps from the forum.

My and my boyfriend stayed here for a week and what a pleasant surprise it was. The Hotel was very clean and comfortable. The bed was very big for us both being very tall which was a god send and even with the hotel being on a main street which is busy in the day, the double gazing was amazing with blocking out noise, better than anything in London I have stayed in! Everyday the continental brekkie was more than enough for me and loved the scrambled egg and ham they served was lovely. Also the... Read more

This hotel was only a block or two away from the Roman Forum and the Coliseum. The are numerous restaurants around this hotel to have a nice variety of places to eat. It was a quiet hotel. The breakfast was good but had limited seating and offered a small but decent selection of food. The rooms were small but we're comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size and clean. The only drawback for a member of my group was that the wi-fi was very limited. We had to go to the lobby for the the fre... Read more

Enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Solis. The continental breakfast very enjoyable. The staff was excellent, approx 5 minute walk to the Colusseum and approx one to or from the Vatican. Lots of great places to eat, grocery stores very close. Plenty of sites near by to walk to and enjoy.

totally loved the hotel and all its beauty, staff were so friendly and made us feel safe and welcome, Moni Hossain was totally caring and looked after us brilliantly he is a friendly member of staff who always made sure we were looked after. Would definitely always recommend this hotel it is central to everything. loved the quietness of the hotel once you were inside as being on a main street that can be busy. This is by far one of the smallest and dirtiest hotels I've been to. The front desk told me that none of the rooms match the pictures shown in listings. Carpet is falling apart, massive stains all over the walls, smallest bath room ever, and bath hotels/ sheets have a strange oder to it. Save yourself time and book elsewhere. It's not worth it, spend the extra money and stay somewhere comfortable.

Big spacious rooms - clean and airy with options of air-conditioning. Check in and check out process is okay - no possibility of extending your check out. Location is fantastic - 5-10 mins walk from the Colosseum. Two underground metro stations in walking distance (Colosseum and Termini). Most of the places to visits are within walking distance from 5 mins to 1hr. Note of caution - Don't try out the restaurants in front of the hotel or on the same side of the hotel (going towards the Termin... Read more

Wasn't very impressed with our stay. First of all we were placed into a tiny room that wasn't what we booked. The room was freezing and the beds weren't very comfy. After we had been moved into our new room the wifi was very poor and would stop working at random points, and wasn't very clear with instructions and when we asked questions they weren't answered very well. Even though the wifi was bad, the hotel was clean and presentable and staff were polite. The food for the breakfast was very ver... Read more

This hotel is a distance from the train & airport. So plan on taking a taxi...But walking to the Colosseum & Forum makes up for that. Nice breakfasts, clean room, quiet. Little tight for 3 people or more in our room. But again, your not going to staying in your room much more than sleeping. Lots of places to eat within a short walk. Some better than others. We found most of the places to eat with picture of food on big signs were just adequate. Although one very close showed burgers. Man, thi... Read more

Hotel Solis is located in the perfect location, seeing that it is a 5 min walk from the Colosseum and all the other popular sites are in walking distance as well. The employees were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk with Monir and Johnny. The breakfast had a decent variety, but the only downside is waking up early to have all the options since some of the items were not replinished. The room was as expected, which is pretty decent; not too roomy, but not too tight. With hotels... Read more

Top spot, 5 mins to Colosseum. Right by some great resturants. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good choice for breakfast. We had a room at the front on a busy road but you could not hear anything. The air conditioning is great as you need it especially in August. Room was OK, pillows a bit too hard, but that is only my preference. Would stay here again.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for my birthday in July 2016. The hotel is in a perfect location, the rooms were 'okay', but very clean, staff very friendly. The hotel is a little on the pricey side, but I think that's down to the location. As I said the location is fantastic, down the road from the famous Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The hotel is down a popular street full of tourist friendly restaurants, ice cream shops and souvenir shops. Can't beat the location! The rooms are average, ... Read more

The room was beautiful, the location was perfect, and the walking distance to the coliseum was surreal. The staff was very good and friendly. We always came back to our room clean and AC blasting. The breakfast isn't the greatest and the coffees are subpar but by no means terrible, especially considering it's free which is refreshing in Rome. I loved this place and would definitely come back.

I went with my husband for my 30th birthday. The hotel was lovely and air conditioned. Nice size room, bed was nice and comfortable, it had a safe in the wardrobe which came in handy to put away the passports. Breakfast was included which was lovely. The best part was the location just round the corner from the colosseum. Over all had a great stay.

We stayed here for a week in early August. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had a quad room as we are a family of four. The room was big enough and the bathroom was a good size also. The hotel is located near the all the sites Rome has to offer. We walked everywhere even to the Vatican which was the longest trip we had. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who is planning a trip to the Eternal City. We hope to come back in the near future. Thank you again to everybody at the hotel ... Read more

I picked the hotel for its central location. We walked everywhere except Vatican. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom for a quad in the back of the hotel is small per American standard. It also lacks the amenities we are used to - no conditioner, no shower cap (until requested) and no facial tissues. But it's common in Europe so we were fine without them. Having a safe in the room is nice as we only carried copies of our passports with us. We left a tip for the cleaning lady an... Read more

We had 2 rooms, one twin and one triple but the triple was a double with a single bed shoe-horned in and consequently was very cramped but not a major problem. I wonder at their pricing model charging effectively an extra 25% for that extra bed compared to the price of a superior double. The rooms on the front of the hotel are better, if only for a view that does not involve looking at a dark courtyard service area at he back of the hotel. There is little noise as the street was closed to throu... Read more

We arrived in early September and chose this hotel as our base to begin our holiday. The hotels cost was quite affordable which made me underestimate the quality of the hotel. It is located within minutes of the colosseum, forums, and is only a short walk to all the main attractions. The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and the breakfast was great. The room was clean with comfortable beds and a convenient balcony. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Rome.
