Taking into account that this is a 3 star hotel, you could not wish anything better. Good rooms, kind staff, good breakfast. And on top: a beautiful rooftop terrace with nice views. The location is superb. In Trastevere, but yet very quiet. Not only the many restaurants at walking distance, but also many Roman sights can easily be reached by foot. For sunday mornings: a very attractive market starting just around the corner, stretching for many miles. We will absolutely book this hotel when we ... Read more

Went with my daughter and boyfriend for her birthday and had 2 rooms, which we similar. A bit out the way but not a long walk to Trastevere. Breakfast very basic with not many tables and couldn't always get one and would have to wait. The roof bar has lovely views and is an added bonus. Helpful staff.

I went as part of family group and stayed 4 nights in this hotel. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the rooms are nice but the walls are paper thin and we were woken a number times in the night by the connecting room amourous activity. If this wasn't enough you could clearly hear them talking. Also if you are having breakfast it pays to get there early as while the food provided is great the dining room only has 8 tables which less than a 3rd of the number of rooms and if you time it wro... We found our room small but it had a nice bathroom and there was a flat screen t.v. also free wi-fi though couldn't get a secure site for our floor. The breakfast was very nice and the receptionists all very helpful. It is not far from shops and a restaurant area - walking distance. We used public transport to and from this location to the Vatican and other places of interest in the City.

We had an upper floor, rear facing room with big windows and lots of views. The roof deck was a delight. The staff very helpful. We were a couple of blocks off of Via Trastavere which had all kinds of neighborhood delights.

The hotel is in a superb location and near may shops, restaurants and transportation but really leaves much to be desired. Pros: The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. After spending a four night stay, it was like they became family; remembered our names, room number, asked how our stay was going etc. Location location location! The Trastevere neighborhood is truly wonderful and the hotel is right along the main road to catch transportation to all of the important sites and ev... Read more

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel from May/6/2016 to May/9/2016. When we arrived (friday, May, 6, 2016 at 6:00PM) the first impression was bad, dirty facade of the building, dust into the lobby and no air conditioning neither at the lobby and into the room. I called the reception and asked how I could turned on the air conditioner, a woman from the frontdesk answered "We dont have air conditioner today, if you feel hot is easy, open your window‚?¶." And she was really rude..! I was reall... Read more

My wife and I stayed at Hotel San Francesco for ten ( 10) days 2009 and ten ( 10 ) days again this June. If we return to Rome again, based on our experience this trip, we will stay at Hotel San Francesco again. The staff helped us in making reservations , uprovided information on bus and tram schedules and pick up locations ). The hotel with easy access to bus and tram stops, make it easy to get to Historical sites and the Vatican . ( We walked back to the hotel twice from The Vatican - abou... Read more

To be fair, I'm just going to organize this by Pro/Con Pros: They were very receptive during the booking process to answering questions and offering a discount for Rick Steves readers. The rooftop terrace bar has an amazing view and at the time we were there a very good and friendly bartender, though he said he would be leaving at some point in the summer. The breakfast was included in the price and was delicious and fresh. They arranged a car for our airport trip back home that was prompt and ... Read more

With a crazy idea of setting up a surprise for daughter and husband on their 10th anniversary in Rome, I contacted the hotel San Francesco where their first 2 nights were booked. By email, and with lots of what I would like and their responses, the hotel pulled off this surprise in excellent Italian fashion. The rooftop bar staff prepared a fantastic platter sampling of typical Italian antipasto and a great bottle of Italian wine served with a view over the area rooftops and beyond. They even pr... Great stay at the San Francesco. Nice location, a short walk to the center of Trastevere. The rooftop bar is a great place to relax with a beautiful view, even if you're not a guest. Bartender is fantastic. Rooms were not luxurious, but clean and comfortable, with modern bathrooms. Walls were thin, so could be a problem for light sleepers. One night, power to outlets went out for most the night, leading to a scramble to charge phones and cameras in the morning. Breakfast buffet (cold) is lov... Read more

Hotel San Francesco was only one walking block from the Main Street. Great little hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. The best part of the hotel was their roof top patio bar. Very comfortable, gorgeous views and very friendly bartender. Breakfast was included in the price even thought there wasn't a kitchen (continental). The room was quite small but not much time was spent inside. The bed was very comfortable, room was clean and there were orange trees right outside our window. The... Read more

The room we stayed in at Hotel San Francesco was cramped and dated - incredibly basic, a room from a budget chain hotel in need of a refurb, NOT a boutique hotel. We weren't expecting 5 star luxury, but we were expecting a room shown a little love and charm, not a gloomy little bed box. We were so disappointed we actually complained (which we never do). The lady on duty said she would arrange a room change the following day, but the member of staff on duty then knew nothing about it - in fact he... Read more

This is a lovely hotel. We have stayed here several times and it is clean, comfortable and a good base for a visit to Rome. The staff is kind and helpful, the breakfast is great and we like the rooftop bar. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable.

This hotel is in a good location, easy access to the historical centre etc. Excellent breakfasts, good staff, clean enough although difficult to make the rooms look good as they do need an upgrade. Would stay here again though.

I had booked this hotel for five nights and left after the first few hours.I have never written a poor review but I want others not to make the same mistake I did. The room was dated, had peeling paint/plaster and a very strong musty smell. Thinking this would disappear once the air conditioner was turned on we waited for a while for it to kick in. Mind you this was June and the outside temperature was in the 90's and no air condoning- just a breeze of the already stale air. Called to the fro... Read more

This hotel is located in Trastevere in Rome, a very calm but alive neighborhood. This means you are at a walking distance from all of the attractions offered in Rome. You can also easily commute to go faster. The rooms are clean and offer just a decent size. The hotel offers a bar/terrasse on top where you have a great view of the city. Lovely European breakfasts are also offered.
