We book this hotel for 4 people but when we got there they wanted an extra 100 euros for the other two person. We had the internet print out saying the amount of people and the total we paid. After a 12 hour road trip its hard to really argue when your are thousands of mile away from home. The best part is the next day they tell us oh we forgot to inform you everybody needs to pay an extra 6 euros a night per person to pay for taxes. By far my worst experience with any hotel. I've been here from 8-11may 2016. Been checked in by Paola who gave me all the infos about the hotel in a very calm polite manner. Lovely Paola, remembered straight away my room number all the time she had to give me the room key, pretty heavy i have to say. There was a minor stain on the sheets on the left side of the bed which i notified the day after to her as i did go to bed quite late and she rectified it straight away calling housekeeping. Next night was gone. Daniela cleaned my room and i... Read more

We were greeted by a really pleasant lady on reception (sorry I can't remember her name) who checked us in smoothly and provided us with all the necessary information regarding breakfast and the surrounding area. She even gave us a map and pointed out how to get to the main landmarks from the hotel. We had requested an early check in but this had not been accommodated and our room was not ready when we arrived at 12pm so we had to leave our bags in the luggage room and return after 2pm. Hotel Rex is very close to Stazione Termini. My wife and I drag our luggage from the train station to the hotel with no problem. Termini is the travel hub of Rome. You can get to most parts of Rome from here. From Termini, you look for the Via Cavour exit and walk out from there away from the station until you hit Via Torino where you make a right turn and you will hit the hotel in 2 short blocks. Upon arrival, the front desk staff saw us and came out and help us with our luggage up the f... Read more

My wife and I stayed at the Rex 8th-15th May 2016. Met by friendly staff at check in, given a map with points of interest pointed out but as this was our third trip to Rome we were familiar with the layout. Room 304 was our room for the duration which was on the ground! floor easy to get to after walking the street of Rome all day. Tea and coffee in the room was a nice touch, all facilities fine. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, staff pleasant and attentive, sun terrace was a bonus, just do... Read more

Hotel Rex always delivers. Althoug a bit outdated and the rooms seem old I love this little hotel Location is prime, rooms are large but what breally makes this hotel a success is the staff. We loved the people when we visited 2 years ago and now even more with the new people we encountered. They are all about being friendly and service oriented. Every single employee we encountered offered a smile and complete devotion to oue well being. Keep up the good work Hotel Rex!!

While the reception folks were helpful, the room, hallways and even reception had very dull lighting. Our room's window was onto a narrow alleyway with lots of trash. Items in our room--the telephone, surfaces were dusty and dirty. Would choose another hotel next time

We stayed in Rome for 3 nights. This hotel was run down. Old carpets, elevate had a nasty smell and air conditioner did not work well. I was going to eat breakfast outside until I saw the pigeons walk on the plates. Thankfully we were up and about all day.

We enjoyed our stay here of four days. The breakfasts were great and looked forward to every day. Lighting in our room was poor near the closet. Bed very comfortable. Room quiet. The staff very helpful. They recommended the ristorante Antica Boheme, close by and inexpensive. A hit with us.

The hotel is located near to the tourist sites. The rooms are large relative to the city of Rome, clean and sympathetic staff. breakfasts were good. Near the Hotel in the Square there is a large supermarket, daily market and very good local restaurants.

Honestly it was one of the hotels I expected the most from but was left very disappointed. The A/C failed to cool the room at all, the bed was equipped with 1 sheet. No comforter or blanket. The shower was old and unclean looking, and hot water was simply not available no matter the time. Wife hated it, I hated it. Only reason I can't give it 1/5 is the front desk was the only one in Europe to offer a hand with our bags. I do not consider myself a fussy traveler. Just need a/c, a soft bed with c... Read more

Good standard of hotel, its not in a new building so it has its quirks - the plumbing can do with a little updating for example - that said it is a perfectly pleasant, extremely welcoming and well located hotel for both the business and tourist traveller alike. The room I has was quiet well appointed and clean. The age of some fittings was beginning to show, but so what, if you want a travel lodge go to a travel lodge - this is a good hotel, honest in its character which excludes, essentially R... Read more

This hotel has a musty scent throughout the hotel from the lobby to the elevator to the rooms. They try to mask the scent by putting oil diffusers in the rooms which only makes u nauseous with the strong scent of perfume. I read a lot of reviews on this hotel that the air conditioning wasn't that strong - but they actually do not have air conditioning at all. They provide fans if u need them but the amount of them are limited. The front desk staff were very nice on arrival and it is walking dist... Read more

We had a very nice welcome and were given a voucher for a free drink each. The hotel has 2 lifts/elevators but they hold a maximum of 4 persons so very small and claustrophobic. Our room was 212 and we couldn't find it, having gone up we then had to go down13 steps and wind our way around the corridor. It was a lovely room with a Juliette balcony, at the front of the hotel, there was a market in the street opposite but our room was very quiet. The breakfast was very good and varied.

This hotel is a definite option for anyone coming to Rome. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the reception and ground floor area was very clean and nice. The room was quite large and the hotel had made an adjoining into a full room for our family so we weren't all crammed into the one room, this gave us two rooms and two bathrooms making our stay a lot easier. The room was slightly dated but made up for it with the space. The bathroom was also quite large, but the shower was a tad s... Read more

When I complained to the staff about the poor air conditioning, I was advised to keep the window open for air. The hotel elevators should be avoided by claustrophobic p... Read more

We stayed two nights at Hotel Rex which is conveniently located near the Roma Termini station. We took a standard double room , and although it was small, it was not lacking anything. My only real complaint would be the shower which never really had a lot of pressure or was ever hot enough . The hotel itself was pleasant with a sitting area and computer with a printer. It had a nice breakfast on the 4th floor rooftop. The price was right.

Typical old pension, although the bed was comfortable, , a good size room and good if noisy AC , the rest of the facilities left much to be desired. The breakfast was very basic, and only once was the fruit replenished - the rest of the week , we were limited to green oranges! Tea and coffee was supposed to be complimentary in the room, but was never replenished. The restaurant was too small to have a nice atmosphere and would have served the hotel better if the area was opened up into a bar are... Excellent location, great staff/ very helpful. Areas of the hotel look like they need a bit of a refurbishment, room was a bit dark and out dated and room service did not replace used coffee cups. Bathroom had no shower curtain so ended up wet every time the shower was used. On several occasions there was no running hot water and mould was growing around the outside of the bath. Overall still a good place to stay, comfy bed, great location and helpful staff. Some areas need improvement.

Four of us spent the night here before our cruise out of Rome. We loved both the Hotel and it's great location. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. WiFi was very good. Front desk staff were exceptional. One of our party left his camera case in the lobby and one of the employees followed us down the street to return it to us.
