We booked our three night break through a travel agent and this hotel was part of the deal. We were slightly concerned as some of the reviews were making it out to be terrible. On arrival at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised, the guy on reception was brilliant and made us feel really welcome. The rooms were spotlessly clean and serviced each day. Breakfast was continental and there was plenty of it. At night we ate out as there are plenty of places to do so within a short walk. The hotel itse... Read more

We stayed 4 nights in Hotel Patria in March 2016. Location - once you get your bearings, very close to train station, maybe a 5-10 minute walk. Close to a variety of restaurants, we were able to walk to the colosseum and after booking a tour in the Vatican, walked home (this was a decent hike but couldn't complain). Room - we stayed in room #309. The room itself was small, but clean and comfortable. The shower was tiny - there was no room to be able to shave my legs. Wifi - free wifi that w... Read more

We stayed on the top floor of this hotel ,if you find stairs hard ask for a different floor as the lift doesn't go all the way up . The reception staff couldn't be more helpful ,always a smile ,and more than helpful with directions, things to see, cheapest way to do things , out room was small but only needed somewhere to sleep ,you don't go to Rome to sit in your room ,we walked to every main attraction absolutely perfect position for this and shopping/eating . Breakfast was continental, can't co... Read more

Brilliant location, close to metro, train station and can also walk to most attractions from here. Lovely breakfast. Have to pay for in room wifi but there is free wifi in the lobby area which was perfect. Stayed 4 nights. Would recommend this hotel.

We have just come back from three fantastic days in Rome. Me my wife and 14 year old son were delighted with the hotel. it is only three stars so keep that in mind. it was very clean ,beds were comfy ,breakfast was good enough to set us up until we had worked up an appetite. a Great location for walking to a lot of the attractions,it's very close to the Metro and we used that on our last day as the Vatican was a bit of a hike. would return to this hotel,no problems

Having never been to Rome before we decided on booking with a travel agent. Huge high five to Sara from Thompsons Llanelli for all her amazing advice regarding our choice of holiday. She recommended Hotel Patria for its convenience. It was so well placed and we didn't even need to ride the buses as we walked every where, apart from the Vatican and they arranged a taxi. which was far cheaper than we thought it would be and the driver explained all the sites on our journey. The room was on the to... Read more

Don't know how this is a three star it is not comparable to an English three star rating. Budget hotel to say the least, tired dated, beds rock hard. Breakfast very basic, plastic cups for the juice this is what you expect in a hostel. Not a great choice and my experience of the staff at breakfast was very rude.i asked for some more hot water to make tea as the flask that they use,lid had not been put on properly and it had gone cold. I think there was a breakdown in communication she thought I h... Read more

Great location , do not agree with some reviews. Good 3 star, our room 306 is lovely, spotlessly clean and comfortable. So close to everything - friendly staff , breakfast lovely. Would definitely recccomend for a Rime break .

I am not one to complain but this hotel did not give us a 3 star room. The bed had seen better days and I think I was lucky not to check the condition of the mattress and pillows! We had 2 windows. The one in the shower room of course was opaque but so was the eye level window in the bedroom! On opening it and looking out it was understandable. We looked onto the back of buildings and they were so close we could only just see the sky because we were near the top of the building. It wasn't far to... Read more

The man on reception was very helpful, gave us advise on parking, prices and location. The room we were given was a bit smelly on arrival , the carpets were stained in a number of areas and general decoration was tired. The breakfast was better than expected as was the dining area, but not as good as some hotels we stayed at. The hotel was in a good location with regard to visiting the sights but in our opinion needs updating

Lovely hotel, great central location, breakfast more than adequate with plenty of choice. Only downside for me was that the bed was hard, but most are abroad, good transport links nearby, approx 15 minute walk to colosseum and other locations, plenty of bars, shops and restaurants nearby.

Like the hotel, I will keep this basic... We knew that we wouldn't be staying in a hotel to rival the Ritz so kept an open mind when we checked in with the surly chap on reception. Basic room, not much of a view but big enough and also with a safe to store passports etc. A great location to go exploring if you don't mind walking and breakfast was enough to keep you going...lots of cake and croissants but good enough for us. There is a couple of nice restaurants next to hotel which is good a... Read more

This hotel was pretty basic but it did the job for us for 3 nights. We were on the top floor which was the 5th floor but the lift only went up to the 4th so you had to take the stairs for the last floor but this wasn't an issue for us. The only issue with the room was that the bed was hard and the shower was small. The wifi was really good and fast it even reached our room with no problems. The location of this hotel was really good, if you don't mind walking the trevi fountain was about 20 mins... Read more

Although we paid for a budget hotel, we were surprised to see the place was well above our expectations. Pros: + big clean rooms and nicely decorated + filling breakfast + the possibility to ask for coffee specialities at the bar + great location - we never took the bus or metro to see the sights + very kind staff Cons: - could do with a bit of refurbishing

The stuff was very kind , at the reception and at the breakfast room . My room was disgusting: i asked for a not smoking room and they gave me a room where was smoked inside. Terrible The size of the room was very small. Not so clean and the whole hotel needs a renovation .

We had a reservation at this hotel and when we checked in they said that our room had a problem with the air conditioner and they reserved another room in another hotel (hotel Augustea). Giving the fact that on the same day I have called in the morning to announce them that we would arrive late at night due to the flight, they should announce about this "problem" at that moment. At that hotel we met another couple that had the same "problem",not with the air conditioner but with the water. And ... Read more

we are just back from another superb visit to Rome. Hotel Patria is in a great location, few mins walk from Repubblica Metro, not far from the Colosseum too. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the usual continental, but suffice for us. Our room wasnt very big but it was cleaned everyday which was good. Our room looked onto the main street which was noisy but we didnt mind. Plenty of restaurants nearby so never stuck for choice. Would recommend this hotel, great location.

Unfortunately this hotel does not match its location. Small claustrophobic room with many sharp edges to provide a reminder of your stay. It is near the rail station and many of the central historical sites of Rome but I will not be returning

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights whilst in Rome and it is a great base for your stay. What I will say is that you get what you pay for. This is a budget hotel with budget style rooms that could use a bit of TLC. I stayed in a single room (104 ) which was fine but did have a few "quirks". Staff were very helpful when ever we needed information and the breakfast was good with lots of choice. I would recommend this hotel for budget travellers because it's a good base, safe location, close to t... Read more

Just got back from Hotel Patria.Yes, it's a budget hotel but absolutely perfect for a four night stay. Located in a minor street, It's no more than 200 yards walk to the Republica Metro station and a fine plaza with amenities. Practically no noise at night, but it is a city after all. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the desk staff who helped us with transport questions. Continental breakfast was varied and quite sufficient. The bedroom we had was quite big enough for the purpose... Read more

The only good thing in this hotel was the location and breakfast. Not at all clean, dirty blankets as mattresses. I needed a bed for my son, and brought a camp that had been damaged layer. The wifi unacceptable.....

Just home from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It was in a perfect location.. It was clean we had a lovely room. The breakfast was great each morning but just one thing.. There was no hot food at all but it's not the end of the world there was plenty to fill you up that's for sure. I would go back and stay at this hotel definitely. The reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful at all times.

3 nights in this little hotel for a long weekend break. As per other reviews it wasn't the best hotel and the lift stopped a floor short of the top, so we had a flight of stairs to climb each time we went up to our room. It was small and basic but adequate. It wasn't cheap for the lack of quality, but I suppose we paid for the location. This is it's best attribute, and we walked to most places. Breakfast was ok, staff were very friendly and helpful.
