With some tips from the staff, we navigated Rome on foot and had a great time discovering all the sights as well as the quaint and beautiful streets. We had wonderful meals at the places recommended by the staff, as well. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. :-) Our room was simple and clean. With the windows open for fresh air, the noise from the street below could be heard at night; but that's to be expected when the hotel is so nicely located. Breakfast was traditional and excelle... I arrived at this hotel several hours before check in - feeling ill. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They gave me a coke and some croissant, got my room set up early and gave me a room with a balcony for some fresh air. Lovely people. A really cute place in an excellent location. I will definitely book it again when I am back in Rome.

The staff were so helpful in giving us sight-seeing and restaurant suggestions. We felt really taken care of. The neighborhood is social and friendly, just off the beaten path, with excellent restaurants, delis, bakeries, coffee, and shopping. The nearby Mercatomonti is a great place to shop--handmade Italian fashions, hats, bags. Very near the Cavour metro station and easy walking distance to just about everything. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including a fridge.

This is my 3 time staying at Hotel Grifo and again it was absolutely wonderful! First the location - Monti area is my favorite area of Rome- you can walk just about everywhere (except the Vatican) and it's the oldest part of Rome. Quaint streets, shops, restaurants all around. The hotel is perfect for me needs. Not a big fancy "American-style" hotel but the place that attracts travelers who wish to have more of a local feeling. I can't say enough good things about the staff- Rosa, Luigi, Eva, ... Read more

We were delighted with our 6 nights in this quaint "olde worlde" hotel in the heart of old Rome, 7 minutes walk to the Colosseum and very handy for many other places of interest. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us clear directions each morning as we set off to explore. Breakfast was simple but a good start to the day, and our room was clean and comfortable. We highly recommend the Grifo.

Let me just start of with the good parts. The staff are very sweet, friendly and helpful, the location is excellent and breakfast is good. We took a 2 week trip to Italy and stayed at 4 different hotels. The one had no rating (which was the best by the way), and the others had one and two star ratings. Out of the 4, this was by far the worse. We were in room 42 on the 5th floor. The bathroom: the shower doors had mold on it and it was so worn out that we had to be extremely carefull when openi... The room is complementary after a long day of walking around rome. It's basic a bit small don't expect it to be luxurious, its a budget hotel after all. However, high pressure/hot shower, every day room cleaning and tidying, and a location in a very beautiful area nearby to almost anything in rome is amazing. Even though we walked everywhere, there's a metro station (cavour) nearby around 3 minutes walking, we only used it to get near the Vatican City and galleria borghese. When arriving walking... Hotel Grifo is a small hotel, with small, but clean and comfortable rooms. It is in a lovely part of town. You are a short walk from many of Rome's sights and near many excellent restaurants (a bad meal in Rome is very hard to find). It is best to request a room away from the street as this can be loud. The people who work at Grifo are all very nice and very helpful. Everyone makes sure you are comfortable and happy. The rooms are basic with hairdryer and tv. They offer wifi, but it is not... First of all i gotta say that the location is great for exploring Rome. Couple of mins to Colloseum, 12m to Trevi and lots and lots of restaurants, mini markets etc around. The staff was great and friendly, and gave good advices. Though, the rooms are really not up to date. Aircon was noisy and we couldt control the temperature and get it down. The shower was a bit moldy and the whole room need a renovation tbh. we had room 41 (at the top with a shared terracce (good street view) with room 42. ... Read more

We booked 2 double rooms for a 4 night stay for my anniversary. We were given room 30 (small double) and room 41 (quad room on the 5th level with shared terrace). The rooms were outdated and unclean with mould in the bathrooms and broken furniture etc. When we approached the reception and asked if these were the rooms we booked (via the website), we were told they were fully booked and that they would look at it tomorrow. The room we had was the one right at the top of the Hotel which had its pros and cons. Pros - access to roof top seating area which was great at getting a look at roof top Rome.
