The hotel is facing the famous trevi fontana, and the entrance and the loopy is very narrow due to the building is and old building turned to a hotel, the furniture is very old and some of them you will find them very used and the elevator is too small and can't take more than 3 persons. the room was very clean with nice decoration but the side tables were scratched, the bathroom was very clean and nice. The varity for breakfast is too limited but delicious and tasty with a spectacular view for ... Read more

As with any type of travel, you must prioritize the important aspects of your trip at the beginning of your travel plans. A clean comfortable room in front of the Trevi Fountain was top priority for us. That is exactly what we got. The hotel is a hodgepodge of beautiful antiques and charming vignettes in demure sexy lighting in the long halls as well as unsuspecting corners. The staff like the hotel is small but you will be attended to by people who genuinely care that you enjoy your stay. ... Read more

+It was also easy to walk to the Vatican etc from here. The metro station is close by although it's a bit of a struggle carrying suitcases through. Breakfast is self service and in any place we stayed breakfast options were limited to cereals, slices of meat and cheese, pastries and bread. (No hot dishes). The view from the room (209) was great. It was nice to get up early and go out to the fountain with no crowds. -The rooms are very very small which is understandable as it's an old hotel. The... Read more

This was a great choice for our three nights in Rome. The location was great, right in front of the fountain. The view of the fountain from our room was nice. The location is central and we walked everywhere. The room itself was small and the shower was very narrow. The bed was not that comfortable. The hotel and room was clean and the staff was friendly. I would stay here again.

We knew the rooms in this hotel could be hit and miss. We had three travelers who wanted their own bed. At first we were given a king and a twin, but insisted we have three separate beds. They graciously accommodated us and changed our room. Our room wasn‚??t glamorous and the bathroom was small, but it was clean and comfortable‚?¶and you couldn‚??t beat the location. The staff was friendly and very eager to please. Isaac let us go out onto a private terrace where we enjoyed wine, cheese, etc. T... Read more

This hotel was average in every way except the view. Converted from a saloon in the early 20th century, each floor originally had only one bathroom. This means that the bathrooms that were created were incredibly small (and I live in NYC). The shower was almost too small to shower in and upon exiting, the bathroom looked like a tsunami had hit from all the water that comes out past the curtain. The renovater must have anticipated this, as they put a drain in the middle of the bathroom. I booked ... Read more

We stayed for 1 night in early June of 2016. Not quite the height of tourist season but pretty close. This antiquated, 4 story building looms over the Trevi Fountain in the heart of Rome. It's impossible for vehicles to drive within 400 feet of the entrance, and unless you arrive between 2am and 7am it will be shoulder to shoulder people. So make sure you can manage your luggage. You enter the hotel into a narrow hallway which contains the front desk and a clerk that is reluctantly friendly b... Read more

I knew this was not a quality hotel when I booked it but I have always been a huge admirer of the Trevi Fountain and couldn't resist this unbeatable location for what may be my last trip to Rome. The view does not disappoint!!! Pay extra for a room with fountain view, otherwise don't even bother. The room was tiny, the bathroom also tiny, with no hooks at all, not even for the toilet paper. There was usually a sewer smell. There were no amenities to speak of (drinking glasses, tissues, do n... Read more

Pay for the view otherwise you're wasting your time. Room had bugs on the bed and was way too small. We could barely sleep the first night. Staff is excellent, kind, courteous. Location is close to sight seeing but no nightlife. You have to walk quite far to enjoy the nightlife. Breakfast was standard- the view from breakfast is amazing - just try to get the window seats (only 2 tables) Bathrooms are way too tight. Shower curtain stuck to us - not enjoyable. Wifi is strong! This hotel is bang opposite the Fontana do Trevi. It's old Italian style suited us with a cool, quite room to the rear of the building. The square is a magnet to the world attracting very many travellers far and wide, busy all day and much of the evening. A fantastic atmosphere with many romantic proposals cheered by the surrounding crowd every evening we were there! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable enough. The bathroom was also clean, although ... Read more

This was my second stay at the Hotel Fontana, the last being 10 years ago, and the place never ceases to captivate me. The building is a medieval former convent and is steeped in centuries of history. You get the impression that little has changed at the Fontana since the 1920s, and you get a sense of the 'real' traditional Rome here. If your idea of a hotel is bland featureless concrete lump, with suspended ceilings, thick carpets, and magnolia walls, which could be located anywhere in the wo... Read more

We went into this stay with low expectations after reading some of the reviews. Thankfully our expectations were exceeded! Staff (with the exception of one man who seemed unhappy to be working) were lovely and very helpful. The room was small (as are most European hotels) but it was spotless! I would recommend double checking you booked a room with a view however, we accidentally assumed that's what we had booked and originally were put in a room without a view of the fountain. We explained ... Read more

The only pro for this hotel is the location but that is all. The staff were not friendly and did not go out of their way. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stay at any other hotel than this one. We had two fuses break and something stolen from our hotel room.

Location, location, location. This hotel gives you the European feel. Small but quaint rooms. We booked 3 rooms and each was different. Loved the area that looks over the fountain for breakfast and afternoon drinks. Front desk wanted to hold our passports for review for "about an hour" but finally agreed on a copy instead as didn't feel comfortable handing our passports over (thats why we gave the hotel a 4). We walked to all the sites from this centrally located hotel which was great. I... Read more

Greta hotel and friendly staff. The roof top terrace was AMAZING to get a cocktail at night and look at the Trevi Fouontain. The central location in Rome was great for restaurants, walking and just to look at one of the most beautiful points of interest in Rome. You get to just gaze at the fountain all day and night without having to be in the storm of people that come 24 hours a day!

This is the place to stay at Rome. Just in front of La Fontana di Trevi. It offers an excellent breakfast, in the top roof floor, overseeing la Fontana. It is timely to recall your memory, as in this hotel it was shooted that famous film, La dolce Vita. It is an old building but very well kept. You will be living a great experience. Bathroom are modern and the room clasically decorated.

Rooms are small but clean and have air con, Reception staff are not very helpful... But not rude, breakfast is very simple bread cheese cereal and the milk is warm. Wifi... Don't bother.... It never worked. This ideally located you can get everywhere easily from here. In a nutshell your paying for the location and the fabulous views of the Trevi.

A couples retreat to the beautiful Trevi fountain in Rome. Ideally placed due to the fact that this is probably the busiest attraction in Rome so to see it a minimum of twice a day is perfect. There are rooms that don't face the fountain but the breakfast area is breathtaking. Also note the Roman tax that you pay at the end of the trip which was a surprise to us. Other than that the rooms are always clean.

Just back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Very old building with a fantastic view of the Trevi Fountain. We were on 1st floor with a fountain view, it was so close I felt I could have thrown my coin into the fountain from the window, didn`t try though, always too many people about!! The room was small as was the bathroom, but we expected this as I had done my research, so no problem. The staff were lovely, friendly & very helpful & the room kept spotlessly clean. I saw this hotel nearly 20 years ago on a previous trip, and decided that I would want to stay there one day. On this trip, we booked 4 nights there. We had room 106, which afforded a FANTASTIC 24-hour view of my favorite landmark in Rome. We would lean on the windowsill for hours at a time, free of the bother of the omnipresent large crowds of tourists, and enjoy the beauty of the sculptures - or just plain people-watch. It was also convenient to walk to shopping and restaurants from this c... Read more
