The hotel is ok, you had to ask for a kettle and charged ?3.50 for the use, hotel is a bit far from the city and you can get the local bus or tram into town and very cheap too, we used the taxi service but make sure the meter is on before setting off some taxis will try to over charge you. Warning not mentioned in travel brochure you will get charged when booking out the new law for tourism tax per bedroom that was introduced April last year four of us got hit for ?72.00

We arrived quite late at 8pm on a Friday evening to an out of the way hotel. Modern, clean, minimal but with everything we needed. We were greeted by a very friendly and cheery receptionist (part of the family who own the hotel) who spoke excellent English and Italian. Although their is no restaurant for evening and lunch meals at weekends the reception team directed us to an excellent Trattoria which we visited for each of our evening meals (literally five minutes walk up the road). We slept w... Read more

We picked this hotel purely by chance and are very glad we did; it is clean and comfortable and situated in a quiet area outside the main city. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful and whilst there is not a whole lot of facilities nearby there is a supermarket next door and a superb family run restaurant just a short walk up the hill. The room was spotlessly clean with a good size shower room and comfortable bed and a continental breakfast is served everyday. Getting into R... Read more

We stayed in Rome for 2 nights and 3 days. Very helpful staff. Especially at the Reception. We had a situation, in which i needed to make International calls. Olivier was quite helpful in allowing me to do the same. The Rooms are neat and quite. Hotel is a bit out of the City Crowd and quite easily accessible by Road Maps. Would recommend to stay at this hotel if u are planning to self drive in Rome, its not too bad if willing to use Public Transport. You will need to travel via bus to reach to ... Read more

Stayed at Hotel Artis during our holiday in Rome. Despite having a good start rating, this fails to deliver the feeling of a 4 star hotel due to the following; 1) Location: although it's within the Rome metropolitan area it's still a good 50mins from central Rome. The surrounding is run down that doesn't provide a good feeling of safety in the night. 2) Room: amenities are good but basics like a kettle or tea making facilities in room comes with an up-charge. Couldn't identify whether the air-... Read more

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel with my daughter. It is a lovely, clean, friendly hotel which only misses out on having 5 stars due to lack of coffee making facilities in the room and as others have said, would benefit from a toaster in breakfast room. However it more than made up for this as rooms are modern, clean and beds very comfortable. Yes it can be a little noisy due to tiled floors and thin walls but it is only at certain times.....other than that it is a very qu... Read more

Welcoming staff some English reception staff for the Brits abroad. Relaxed place very clean rooms the bedding was changed daily on the three nights we stayed. Located well out of the city in a quiet area just one bus and a metro ride from the city centre. Modern but lacking a few basics like air con or fans in the room. Could do with a toaster in the breakfast room. Tips take the 558 bus to the metro at Subaugusta then you'll need some small notes or coins to buy a metro ticket. Take the line t... Read more

Brilliant hotel. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and knowledgeable about the area and Rome and spoke very good English. Rooms were spacious and very modern and the cleaning staff did a superb job every day. Breakfast was very limited, but for the price we paid and the fact breakfast was included I can't complain. Far enough away from the centre to be away from the noise, but not too far that it was a pain to get in. Very easy transport to and fro. Some great little trattorias around as we... Read more

Firstly I want to make it clear I am reviewing the facilities and atmosphere of the hotel and not the staff. However , thank you Oliver for going the extra mile for us! The GOOD stuff : lovely pressure shower , hot water , cleaned daily , air conditioning ,large rooms The staff where the BOSS needs to read and either change the Manager or make some changes . 1. First off, I'd say this hotel is very clean and well looked after. The shower is good, the beds are large and comfy and the room comes with a free electronic safe. That's about it for the positives... The hotel is way out in the sticks, so if you don't like long commutes (50-60 mins into Rome), then this hotel is definitely not the one for you. It's in a bit of a run down area to be honest. We purchased a 72 hour travel ticket which gives access to the buses and metro. However these are una... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights. I initially chose this hotel as it was so reasonably priced and i feel it represents value for money. Rooms were clean and modern, reception assistants very helpful, breakfast wasn't great (scrambled eggs, bread, pastries) there is a supermarket next door so for longer stays you can buy items to supplement your breakfast! Its about a 10 min brisk walk from Parco di Centrocelle and about 45mins by bus to the city centre. For dining La Viletta is highly recommended g... Read more

We stayed for one night and even though we had a car it was difficult to drive to city center. Small hotel with clean rooms but with very thin walls, we could hear everything from the next room. Breakfast too poor. Better to spend more money and live closer to city center than have to use a car in a foreign city/country were you can only trust the GPS.

Nice stay, staff was friendly. Room was small and the amenities was defiantly not 4 star. The breakfast was horrible scramble egg and chopped up hot dogs... Beware.... At the end of the stay they charge you an extra 6 euro per night per person service charge. They don't notify you when you arrive. This is wrong on so many levels.

We stayed at the Hotel Artis for two nights before embarking on a cruise. Hotel was clean and our room was fine but it was not a 4 star facility. Breakfast was limited and if you are vegetarian and eating the scrambled egg, watch out for meat in the food with the use of shared serving spoons. Not suitable for people with limited mobility. It is quite a trek to the city centre and I was very grateful for other reviewers directions when taking the bus and the underground to reach the city cent... Read more

Comfortable room with good specious and view, clean room , friendly staff , but the problem is that its quite far from center of Rome and historical area so its better to have car otherwise each commute will cost around 20?. Also there is no room service after 10 pm which is not good. In total is nice hotel.

Booked this holiday and n BA sale so wasn't expecting too much as it was so cheap, but the hotel was lovely, it is out of the way but with a bus around the corner straight to the metro station made it easily accessible. Around 30mins travel to the centre. The hotel was immaculate, the room was modern and clean, staff were helpful with directions too, quite a basic breakfast but was lovely and fresh. They also stored our bags before check in so we could go straight out.

I had left my luggage in the locker room of the hotel, trusting that they comply with basic security standards. Unfortunately, my luggage got stolen under the supervision of hotel staff. After returning to my home country and over a month of reporting stolen luggage from the hotel locker room, I receive an email from the hotel saying that they are upset that I posted low rated reviews on booking.com and that I made a mistake by complaining to the website. Stayed here for four nights visit to Rome. Decided to stay here as it was nicer than what we could afford in the centre of Rome. It was a lovely hotel. Very clean. Staff were friendly. Unfortunately we hadn't spotted that the nearest tube is undergoing renovation. Once we worked out what bus to get (558) to the other tube it worked out ok. Took about 40 mins to get to Rome centre. Lovely hotel. Wifi wasn't very good. Luckily we'd taken a pack of cards with us as out of 300ish channels on TV ther... Read more

The hotel isn't bad, but when i was sold the holiday through Broadway Travel i was told it was a four star hotel. I'm not sure how the star rating works, but I expected 4 star to be better than what it was. Clean hotel, Very comfortable bed. Signage was poor, I had to ask for Mini-bar prices and information regarding the hotel. Nice easy route into the centre of Rome. If you're after a quiet hotel, this would be it. It was nearest to my office so had booked it online. Did not turn out to be as good as the photos & reviews suggested. The rooms were not up to the mark. The restaurant works only from Monday to Thursday which is not mentioned on their website... Location is not very convenient for tourism purposes... Supermarket is next door. I shifted the next day to Hotel Capanelle, which was recommended by my office and was much better and at a better rate.

At the description I saw that this hotel has a good connection to the city center. That is not at all true. You have to go 11 stops by bus, which is not frequent, then around 15 stops by metro. There is a new metro station closer to the hotel but it's not connected to the most central area.

Booking on the BA website staying at the hotel Artis which is located outside the city roughly a 30 minute car journey from the airport to the hotel. Where to start... 1) Hotel feels like it's in the middle of nowhere in a dodgy area - which is not their fault, but they could at least try and make sure they have bus tickets to sell in the morning. The closest place to buy bus tickets is a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction to the bus. 1.5? each way to get you in and out of the city (day pass is 7? which is pointless if you are staying in the city as once you are in there, everything is walking distance - hence why it would be goo... This hotel may not be in the city centre, and you will need a bus and metro ride to get into the tourist sites (taking about 40 minutes), but it isn't that difficult, and you do get to see a side of the city that most other visitors don't. The rooms were clean and tidy, the staff friendly, the food OK, breakfast was limited, but adequate (we only ate breakfast in the hotel). If you can get the right price it is worth considering this hotel when visiting Rome.

If you came to Rome with your car, you can't beat this price. But, If you rely on public transportation to visit Rome's centre,it's a bummer. You have to ride a bus for 9 stops and then the metro for another 13...Here is my guide for public transportation: First you have to catch bus 558 from Viale Dei Romanisti (20 minutes intervals). Then you get off at Subaugusta stop and enter the metro station. This is line A to Battistini. After 13 stops you arrive at Termini, which is Rome's central rail and ...
