We were in April at Rome and this hotel provided a pleasant experience: perfect location (very close to Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Via Corso, etc), very helpful personnel, cleanliness OK, good and tasty breakfast served on a roof terrace. When in Rome again, I think I'll choose the same Hotel Apollo.

The hotel is a three star hotel. It is well situated : not far from the central station (15 minutes walk) and near via Nazionale, the colosseum, and piazza Venezia. It is clean but the rooms and the public areas should be redecorated. The mattress was wonky and of bad quality. Breakfast is served in a closed terrace: it is adequate. Service is friendly. I paid 120 euros for a double room for single use. Plus city tax 4,50 euros. I think one can find better for the price even in Rome. There a... Read more

Just 15 minutes walk from Termini, this back street hotel is perfect for those who want a central base and are prepared to 'walk' Rome. Off the Via Nazionale, it offers access to the Colosseum and Ancient Rome as well as easy access to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The longest walk is across the Tiber to the Vatican but this is bearable. The hotel has very amenable and happy staff and the rooms are immaculately clean. A buffet breakfast on the top floor kickstarts the day and there are a... Read more

I stayed at this hotel 4 nights on my own. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good, though the same every day. During the first two nights I experienced poor wifi at my room, and a person at the reception could not do anything about it. It was very uncomfortable to go downstairs to the lobby to access wifi. However, there was another receptionist (very polite young woman), who helped me to access another wifi spot (not the one which was proposed by hotel, access code of which was writ... Read more

This is a boutique hotel with an outstanding staff who will help you with your travel needs. The place is spotless and the décor is old world charming. The have flat screen tv and wifi (if you want to waste your time while in Rome. Breakfast is on the enclosed rooftop and will satisfy your appetite until well after noon. Walk to many sites in the area and there are some restaurants serving quality food at reasonable pries. Our favorite was about 50 yards to the right as you exit the hotel.... Read more

We had a three bedroom room, which was in the building attached. The bedroom and bathroom were quite roomy, clean and with good new furniture. Cleaning lady was coming daily. Breakfast was pretty decent. Staff very nice, smiley and quite helpful. I really like the street the hotel is situated in. Funky shops, bars and restaurants. I would stay here again.

We stayed in Rome for 4 days and it was the best experience ever all thanks to this hotel. Our room was very clean and towels were changed daily even though 3 stars don't have to do that. We had continental breakfast that provided us with cereal, yoghurt, a cutting of cheese and ham,a variety of bread, all sorts of jams, butter, nutella, fresh fruit and a coffee machine. Monuments like Colosseum were 5 minutes away from us and Trevi Fountain was 10 minutes away. The street where the hotel is sit... Read more

Trusting Tripadvisor reviews, we chose Hotel Apollo for a four night stay, and it lived up to all expectations. The friendly staff assisted with all questions about things to do, where to eat, directions to landmarks, calling taxi, resolving issues. There was a "team" feel to the staff: Valentina, Iliana, Chiara, Raja and Silvia worked shifts that covered 24 hour access to assistance. Our room seemed a bit bigger than the typical for boutique style hotels around Europe. The bathroom was very... Read more

Apologies for the essay to come, but thought it was best to be methodical. I've broken the review down in to what seem like the burning questions when picking a hotel: * Location - The location is pretty much perfect. My wife and I stayed for a week and were able to see everything we wanted to see without resorting to taxis or public transport (except to go to Ostia which is out of town). When leaning out of our window you could see the Colosseum at the end of the road. The road itself is relat... Read more

Location is ideal (~10 minutes from Coliseum, St Maria Maggiore, Quirinal Palace, subway station Cavour, etc.), the personnel is extremely friendly and willing to help (reference desk, room service, and breakfast room). Breakfast was great (sausage, ham, jam, several kind of coffee juice and tea, several breads and rolls, cakes and pies etc., fruits and yoghurts) and the breakfast room was located on the 5th floor??s terrace (elevator only goes to 4th floor). The Apollo Hotel is on a road leading to the Colosseum and it is close to Via Nazionale making it very easy for us to use public transport. The hotel employees were really helpful, giving us good tips for catching buses and finding our way around. The hotel is close to both the Imperial and Roman forums, we walked around the area of an evening without trouble and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the ancient ruins lit up at night. We stayed at Apollo Hotel for 4 nights and were very happy with the hotel and the staff. We had advised this trip was for our anniversary and upon arrival they wished us a happy anniversary and had also put a handwritten note and bottle of prosecco in our room. A lovely surprise! The room and bathroom were both a good size, bed was very comfortable and we had a nice view onto the street including the colosseum to the left. Great location, friendly staff, good AC. Had a 4 person room and it was through a separate outside entrance but not an issue. The second bed was a foldout couch that my 2 teenage daughters reported wasn't that comfortable. Was certainly very squeaky! Housekeeping was good but shower and bathroom are very small and show their age. Dirty grout, shower door hard to open and close. Small elevator in main building goes from ground floor up to 4th floor. Breakfast on 5th floor. Small elevator ... Read more

Only about 10 min walk to the Colosseum. Older style 'boutique' hotel but has an elevator and is air conditioned also. Nice breakfast room on the roof terrace. Staff were VERY helpful and pleasant. Mattress was very old and needed replacing and on check out, I was charged 16Euro for them printing out an email with some tickets for me (not too happy about that in this day & age when it cost them virtually nothing, should be part of the service)

Clean & tidy, if a little 'tired', this is a Fab place to base yourself if you want to be right in the heart of Rome. 5 mins from the Colosseum and the Forum, plus near to transport links, it was great place to base ourselves. If you're going out for food, don't eat on Via Dei Serpenti - head into the side streets south east of the hotel (off towards the Colosseum and left a bit!). Some great little eateries and bars

Staff at the Apollo were extremely friendly & helpful. We loved our brief stay at Apollo Hotel and wish we had a few more nights there! The front desk was always available and ready to help us with a smile. The location is perfect for seeing Rome's sights as many are within walking distance and there are tons of great restaurant nearby. The rooms were classic and quiet and yet still had all the modern amenities. Plus, the terrace breakfast buffet was very good.

The bedroom always clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom quite big, everyday renewing our shampoo. The breakfast had a big variety of coffees, juice, croissant e.t.c. everything someone could ask for, they had it. And last but not least, the stuff. An okay hotel which is quite well situated in Rome. A few hundred meters from the Colosseum, so within easy walking distance of the Metro and the hop on, hop off busses. The rooms, while neat and clean, are somewhat dull. Bathrooms are small and showers were a tight fit. Free WiFi but it didn't always work. The air con was also not much use. Staff were always very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts okay. We thought a bit pricey for what we got, so not quite what we expected.

This is a lovely hotel for Rome on a budget. Set in the brilliant Monti district there are plenty of great value bars and restaurants in the immediate surrounding area. All the sights are in a reasonable walking distance. The Colessium being the nearest and the Vatican the furthest being about 40 mins walk.
