The Hotel de la Minerve is ideally located. It's right behind the Pantheon. it's a short walk to the Piazza Navona / The Trevi fountain / Castle Saint Angelo / Saint Peters /The Vatican museums and the Sistine chapel. Our room was very big. Free WiFi and the view from roof top restaurant and bar is outstanding!! The price was $324 Euros per night but worth the price. The room and bath were clean and the hotel staff was very helpful. When I return to Roma I will stay here

The Grand Hotel Minerva in Rome, Italy is located adjacent to the rear of the Pantheon, facing its own square (where a famous obelisk is on top on an elephant). The property is first class, the staff is welcoming and very helpful, and the location allows easy walking access to major points of interest in Rome. The area around the hotel includes a number of restaurants and shops. Be sure to get the included roof top breakfast, which for location and food is a memory in and of itself. Top rati... Read more

This was the second time I spent some time at this excellent hotel. As the previous, everything worked just fine: accommodations, service. The restaurant, The Roof, has one of the best views of Rome, and the food is good as well.

After 3 years we spent another 4 nights in this lovely old hotel. We went for a delux room and had a very spacious room (#104). The staff were as lovely and helpful as on our first occasion. As commented by others, the location is superb in being in close proximity to the monuments and the shopping. The roof top bar was also a nice place to relax and unwind with a drink or two.

Everything about the hotel and the room was excellent with one minor exception. The water for the tub and shower never really got hot. Depending on the time of day, it was warmer sometimes. And it was warm enough to take a satisfactory shower. But it never really got hot. A lukewarm shower is ok but not satisfying.

The Grand Hotel de la Minerve is simply the best.... the interior/lobby is beautiful, all the staff are incredibly helpful and it is in an amazing location. I have stayed here several times and would not stay anywhere else in Rome!

This hotel provided everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay in Rome. The lobby is beautiful and the staff very helpful. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed, but seemed a bit 'tired'. Maybe its time for a coat of paint or updated flooring? Bathrooms were great though! No breakfast was included in the room rate but the hotel is near so many restaurants that we never had a problem finding reasonably priced meals. We did enjoy afternoon coffee at the rooftop grill with its re... Read more

Would not stay there again. Hotel is tired, perfect location, too bad hotel does not equal. For the price, expectations were higher. Housekeeping service was inadequate also, some nights turn down, others not. Don't waste your money, hotel has no personality.

As long as you're not seeking modern accommodation and Michelin star dining, this hotel enjoys a more stately yet surprising relaxed 5* environment. The Minerve's two winning points have to be, firstly, it's roof top terrace bar (and restaurant) with artistically rugged skyline views, perfect on a warm summer's evening and, secondly, location, location, location! Short walking distances to many tourist sites and excellent shops, but more so, atmospheric cobbled streets and piazzas for al fresco ... Read more

I relished the classic European hotel experience offered by this grand old establishment. From the extraordinarily central location on a quiet piazza behind the Pantheon, to the period building with its entrance and lobby boasting stained glass and coordinated floral arrangements (and statue of Minerva!) , from the elegant room with indulgent bathroom and Etro toiletries, to the chic roof-top terrace with unbelievable views over Rome, staying here was a delightful and relaxing experience. My wife and I stayed here for only one night back in 2013. We were headed home from Positano. We ended the trip's final night in Rome to catch an AM flight. We stayed here and really loved the room and the hotel. Just stayed here again for 4 nights with our daughter in tow. Had plenty of room for the 3 of us in the large, nicely appointed room. The roof top terrace where the bar and restaurant were is great. Looking out over the city makes the end or beginning of each day something special. Brea... Read more

I was having an issue with a taxi and realized I was being overcharged. A staff member at this hotel realized I was having an issue. When I explained what happened, he looked at the taxi driver, and then made up a story telling me I was incorrect. Assuming he was local and a professional, I trusted him. I then came to find out and verify that he was completely lying to me. I have no interested in a hotel the has such dishonest and untrustworthy staff. Too many good hotels to be deal with staff l... All staff we encountered at this hotel were excellent: friendly, polite, efficient and very helpful. The location is super and within a walking distance (if you are fairly fit) to all the major attractions: Vatican, Colosseum, Via Del Corsa (Shopping), Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon is literally next door. However, it is my opinion that this hotel gets its stars based on location. The classic rooms are not luxurious and are a little careworn. So if you are feeling flush, opt for a suite, they ... For my last night in Rome I planned a special night and decided to stay at a hotel over my budget as a treat, as I had been camping for 10 days prior. I was excited to have a great comfortable night in the centre of Rome. We stayed on the last floor (6th) under the roof top restaurant. I had settled down for the night and at around 10pm I started to hear people stomping upstairs, I let it go for about 1/2 hour but the stomping became too much to bear. Grand Hotel de la Minerve doesn't disappoint with its rich history, stunning public spaces and exceptional service. It is walking distance from all of the major attractions in Rome and of many great restaurants. The bathrooms are up-to-date, but the hallway carpets need replacing. Continental breakfast is extraordinarily expensive, however, and there is no easy way to get just coffee or tea in the morning.

Of course the location is the major selling point for this property and it delivers in that regard. In other areas, not so much. My room was very small, by an elevator, and not well furnished for the price (Euro 369/night). The finess room was not well equipped and a bit worn out. On the plus side, the roof top was great and the concierge helpful. Next time, I will save money by staying in a cozier place and use the savings to get a drink on the roof top

I can't imagine it's considered a five star hotel by any standards, as there was no initiative by the staff to provide any amenity or service without being asked. The rooms are tiny and outdated.
