We booked the New Year Package and a day before which came to over £1000, the day we checked in my fiancé damaged his back on the stairs which made it impossible for us to continue to stay there, we were told the owner and the manager Daniela, would come and see us we are still waiting!!! the room had bugs on the floor room absolutely freezing staff so unhelpful!!! we checked out after one night due to my fiancé being in severe pain, because of trying to get luggage up to room, they stole th... Our trip was a getaway to Ragusa to be able to spend time seeing the sights of the old city. The Locanda was chosen because it seemed to offer comfort and a central location for our purposes. And it suited us well. The location is good: close to the Piazza della Republica (turn left out of the hotel) from which you can take buses (11 or 33) to the Corso Italia and the rest of Ragusa. Buses don't run that regularly in Ragusa so it's useful to download the timetable from the commune's website an... Read more

Super hotel. But be prepared for a quirky experience. It's more a collection of houses that have been grouped together into a hotel. Some rooms are caves but not all of them. Staff were super-helpful, especially when our daughter locked herself out of her room at 1:30AM! Wed' initially booked for 5 nights but had to change to just 2. No problem and no issue about making us pay for 5. Daniella super helpful to us with restaurant recommendations etc. There isn't any private parking but the... Read more

From the extremely kind and polite staff,(particularly Michael), to the excellent rooms, we have absolutely no criticisms! Our room was all and more than we expected..... The breakfast was wonderful! But I still don't understand why these wonderful hotels don't serve freshly squeezed oranges! Sicily is full of orange groves!

Some travel to Sicily to experience the majesty of Etna; some travel to experience the kitchen of Chef Candiano. I understand both. He and his staff provide a relaxed, attentive, sybaritic evening worthy of the two stars. The dining room is comfortable, chic, and visually stunning in its simplicity; the kitchen unsurpassed. Chef Candiano's roasted sea bass with spring vegitables on a deftly seasoned puree of white beans rivals even that of your own mother's. If only he and his staff would m... Read more

This "boutique" hotel has a big rep, but i can't see why. It's a standard hotel with mostly standard rooms - all these beautiful photographs apply to a small minority of rooms. For example, the free swimming pool is not available to most guests. We found health & safety issues, a virtually useless TV and some of the staff quite sullen. It "sister" properties - the restaurant and lido - are much better.

We booked this hotel as the special luxurious gem in the middle of our trip around Sicily. It was to be an expensive little treat and a cut above our other more mundane accommodation. The photographs on the website were both intriguing and enticing. The blurb portrayed a boutique hotel that was exclusive and unique. The reality was something else. The stone staircase was cute but the hotel is tiny with virtually no communal facilities. Not necessarily a problem in itself but the breakfast room is... Read more

We arrived only to a bit of confusion and almost stuck at a place that was nowhere as nice as where we ended. For the price and the location we def scored a great place. Our room was actually more like an apartment on the top corner of the town and I gotta be honest, it was great! We had a kitchen full on with drinks for breakfast and a small seating area should we have invited over company. The bed was comfortable, the room very clean, and to top it off they brought us breakfast to our do... Read more

The beds were extra comfy compared to the hotels we were staying at during the start of our trip in Sicily. Soft pillows and a comforter. Home comforts! Great room details. A very unique hotel experience. It was like sleeping in a medieval modern cave. The staff were very helpful in getting us acquainted with the SKY cable, using the humidifier, and the A/C (very important). In addition, they were of great assistance to us in making restaurant reservations. Be sure to make reservations at the ... Read more

This is an interesting hotel with a variety of different rooms, many hewn into the Rock. Our room was on the first floor, accessed by a VERY STEEP staircase that at one point has a rock overhang, that I banged my head on. After my first climb, I sincerely thought we would have to either change room or hotel. However, after a brief chat with the staff, it appeared that by doubling round the back of the hotel and going up the steep lane, there was an additional entrance into the hotel that opene... If you stay in the Luxury Suite you're possibly in for a treat. We wouldn't know - it was requested by our travel agent but we got 5 nights in a Standard Double instead. And boy was that a disappointment. The good stuff first: excellent location in the old town, not far from free parking. Good in-room wifi. Sky TV. Breakfast waitress sweet and helpful. Daniela receptionist nice smile. Allessio super-helpful when we arrived, thank you. That's about it. Standard rooms are drab - compare the imagin... Read more

After looking at photographs on the website you might think you are in for the treat. Instead you get an average hotel room in a tiny little hotel which does not even have a proper stairs to go up to your room. All the experience is a bit of the let down and not worth 200 euro a night. We had a very similar experience in a 100 euro a night room with much better breakfast. Breakfast was very poor ?? very little choice no eggs or anything what you would expect from ??luxury?? hotel. Mainly j... Read more

We spent 2 nights here as part of a 2 week visit to Sicily. The hotel is extremely clean, our room was spacious with a beautiful bathroom, and very comfortable. Yes, there are narrow spiral stairs and no lift, BUT there is an entrance via a ramp to the rear; there is a really good free car park about 5 minutes walk as there is very limited parking and car access to the hotel - so it is best to plan to drop off luggage and go and park on arrival. Staff were very friendly. Well situated to visit t... Read more

Ragusa is a tough gig. Not the people, just the terrain. Staying at the hotel of the same name was just a start to eating here. As with Ragusa Ibla its like walking through a history book; paved streets, narrow, winding, dim, hard to follow but Locanda have put out signs (good); worth the walk to find a stunning setting, beside a church (Ibla has dozens), the old church stables renovated to include a cavernous rock ceiling in part, the rest the curved ceiling and familiar brick of centuries past... My wife and I toured Sicily for two weeks and wanted to sample the wonderful food it is known for which we did but our dinner at Locanda was the highlight. It was truly a magical evening-starting with the setting and decor which is very unique and romantic but matched by the impeccable service and incredible food. We went to Ragusa to see the town and enjoy the UNESCO sights but the experience at Locanda made our stay much more memorable. Dinner is expensive but worth it!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights during our 2 week driving tour of Sicily. The reviews seemed pretty mixed when I was researching where to stay in Ragusa, but I really liked the location of the hotel so I went ahead and reserved a room. I had low expectations because of the mixed reviews, however I was pleasantly surprised. I will start with the positives for me and end with the negatives. Positives: The hotel is centrally located and is an easy walk to everything in Ragusa. The fre... Read more
