What was unique about this one of many 5 Star Resorts is its ancient history and legacy. This is not in any way to belittle the warm welcoming service, attention to detail, beautifully appointed rooms and grounds. Neither should I omit to note the excellent food (the very reasonably priced pasta with truffle sauce, the tempura light fritters of baby cod were to die for)....by the way much of the produce, the milk, oil, honey, cheese, delicious prickly pears is organically produced on the proper... From the minute you arrive to the hotel, they make you feel welcome. The hotel located about 20 minutes from the town and that is one of the things that makes it so special. The hotel was an ancient monastery and the rooms are special and warm. Very clean and well preserved. The crew of the hotel helped us with advices of where to go what to see near by. In the hotel they have a fancy resturant. The food was very good and a great experience. We enjoyed there very much.

This property has been owned by the same family since the 17th Century. The owner now is an elderly lady who sits around the hotel most of the day, enjoying watching the guests and chatting to the staff. The hotel is run by her son and his wife who are very casual, relaxed and friendly. The property used to house the Knights of Malta and then became a monastery. One can see remnants of this in the rooms, which could certainly do with an upgrade, but somehow the whole place is so peaceful, welcom... Read more

We were given a very warm welcome even though we arrived late at night. All of the staff is so enthusiastic about the facility, its history and its current day food production capabilities from 33 hectares. The rooms are those of former monks. The dining room and other rooms have been immaculately restored. The food is an experience since the marmalade, cheeses, etc., are made onsite. A beautiful facility with historical relevance (it survived earthquake that destroyed other local medieval... Read more

This place sits quietly in the countryside, midway between Ragusa and Marina di Ragusa, perfectly placed for exploring the fascinating local towns and seaside resorts. If you want the buzz of a town centre, with narrow streets and challenging parking, then Eremo della Giubiliana is not for you. The setting is tranquil and the pace is definitely relaxing. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and you really sense the hospitality. We only saw our own room, which was very comfortable, but there seem ... Read more

Stayed here recently in one of their cottages facing the airfield. Unusual arrangement. We had to drive to the main house for breakfasts. Not that good to walk. Enough space in room. Handheld shower with no fixture on wall to rest it. Overall ok at this price point. Just happy we did not pick a higher priced room in the main building. Had dinner in the dining room our first night. Food just average and service sub par. Wait staff was friendly but not well trained to work in a nice restaurant. ... Read more

Stayed two nights. The superior Rooms were small and cramped, food dreadfull. Staff under trained and amateur. We were offered on departure a bottle of wine for recompense. This was refused, their excuse for bad food was they were so busy, however only 25 people in the Dining room to serve, whole thing lasted two and a half hours, we waited for a hour for the starter! We naturally will not return!

This was our second hotel stay in Sicily (first stop was verdura resort - also excellent). Tip - use google maps as a sat nav to find this place as directions on their web site are not great. Met by their staff whilst parking the car up - to help with luggage & offered refreshments on arrival which was nice touch. Offered an upgrade which was also a very nice touch. First impressions were excellent - 13th Century ex-monastery. Atmospheric entrance hall & felt homely as this has been in the same ... Read more

My wife and i stayed at the Eremo last year and had the most amazing stay with a suberb chef so could not wait to return this month. oh dear what a let down a new lazy chef who could not be bothered. last year we had a new menu every night with tasters before and after and and a chef who was clearly really proud of his menu.there is clearly no excuse as the farm has its own herd of rare black sicilian pigs and makes its own ricotta cheese.the evening meal should be a celebration of their fantast...
