Sadly we only had one night at the Grand Hotel Villa Lgiea . This is a outstanding 5 star hotel . We had a suite of rooms . . The Hotel is very large for our standards. If you ever get a chance to stay here be sure to go out in the back and have a drink on the veranda. It is beautiful. We set there a watched a 70+ foot sailing yacht pull into the marina. The staff is all 5+ star .

We received the warmest of welcomes from the staff we met and felt very quickly "at home". Our room no.106 was beautifully positioned above the excellent terrace bar, was very comfortable (the best nights sleep we had had all week) and had it's own large terrace from which to enjoy the view of the marina and the listen to the wonderful pianist that accompanied supper. The hotel's mid range restaurant was served excellent food and is a very romantic spot. Whilst the hotel is located out of the ci... Read more

Wonderful hotel with great service. The concierge Philip was wonderful and very patient with me and all my questions! The breakfast on the terrace was just so relaxing and delicious (although they do get big conference groups here which takes away a bit of the relaxation!) Cocktails and snacks on the terrace in the evening as well as dinner is also lovely. Lunch is served by the beautiful pool. They offer a shuttle into town but a taxi back is much more convenient and only costs about 10 Euro.... Read more

The staff has been very friendly and there to fulfil any wishes you might have. The breakfast was just legendary - freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit, more food that you can possibly imagine. It's really a unique hotel in Palermo and probably the only place that"s worth visiting in this city after cathedral and few other places. It's an historical villa well maintained facing the sea, quite and serving decent food. I really recommend a couple of days there. Don't walk in the village around it , quite dirty and unpleasant.

The room, the grounds and the view of the bay were magical. It is a hotel of days gone by, but we got a chance to live it. What really makes this hotel a great place is the staff's desire to please us. Every person who worked there devoted themselves to immediately attend to all of our needs. They all worked with a sense of urgency for our benefit. I have to mention Peter, who works at the bar and Suan who works at the restaurant. Even with a crowed bar or courtyard, Peter made us feel like we ... Read more

Upon check-in found the room too hot and the air-conditioning not cooling. Engineering was sent up but it was no different after two hours. Additionally, the room had a bad odor. Found electric air freshers in the drawer! Tired from the trip here that took very long due to bad directions, walked down to the bar area to get a drink and a sandwich. The hotel is located right at the yacht area of Palermo. Thats why you cant go into the sea there. But you can take the bus to Modello (bus stop in front of the hotel). The Hotel offers a shuttle bus to the center of Palermo. During the day the shuttle schedule is ok (but limited space, you should make a reservation), however when returning to the hotel in the evening no shuttle service is offered (Taxi to the city approx 25‚?¨). Beware of street maps - the hotel looks far closer to central Palermo than it actually is. The area around the hotel is edgy. It is close to the docks and the notorious Ucciardone prison. By day, it was just about acceptable but I would not want to be on the streets after dark. From Politeama, it worked out at between Eu15-25 to get a taxi - compare with the fare of Eu 40 that they quote to take you to the airport! So yes, the taxis can be pricey. Fortunately there is a hotel shuttle bus but it ... Read more

A wonderful hotel. Convenient to all you want to see and do in Palermo but just far enough from the madness to let you really wind down at the end of the day. We stay here every year - sometimes twice. The ambience is gorgeous - you look out over the Bay of Palermo into the blues of the setting sun (yes, blues); there's a beautiful large terrace for cocktails (inside if you must) and a pianist plays after about 7pm each night. We do not believe there is a better place to stay in Palermo. The location is ideal for those who prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle. Villa Igiea is a restored villa, but you can still see original frescoes and furniture. It is a beautiful historical building and the gardens are wonderful. This could be a really hotel, but it there are lots of things they need to put right before the owners can credibly say that it's a 5 star property.
