This hotel is beautiful and very clean. Nice location. Two problems though. AC was not working. We checked on a Sat. and front desk told us it would be turned on on Mon.? Opening a window solved the temp problem but the area is so noisy it was impossible to sleep. We gave it another try Sun. night and the street below was still noisy. After 2 nights of no sleep we checked out as they weren't really sure if AC was going to be on by Mon. Also, the water temp. In shower fluctuated from moderate to... Read more

This is an old hotel in a good location. When we were there, there were three bus groups booked into the hotel. It is probably a good choice for the price. Breakfast is served on the top floor. There is a small bar off the lobby, but no one seems to go in there. Their ads show a picture of the Opera House. This is not the hotel!

I looked for a five star hotel in Palermo. This was meant to be a special treat to surprise my husband for a special birthday. I kept returning to the hotel site to compare with other web sites and finally committed to a two-night stay. We were very disappointed. The hotel boasts itself as five-star worthy, but it is definitely not that. Maybe 4, more like 3 and 1/2. Yes, the building is spacious and smacks of 19th century grandeur. Yes, the location is good. But the hotel definitely needs a ref... Read more

Ideally located for buses and attractions but it is over rated and rather expensive for what is offered. We checked in about 9pm then went for a short walk and when we returned just before 10pm we ordered some drinks and were told that the bar shuts at 10pm. As we were in time, we were served drinks and the barman shut the bar at 9:56pm. The room, as dipicted in the photographs, was clean and comfortable, I was pleased to see that the water pressure in the bathroom was goodunlike many modern hot... Read more

The Grand Hotel Wagner is very Old World classy - gilt, carved ceilings, chandeliers, painted doors, heavy drapes, beautiful wooden furniture. I stayed 3 nights in room 321 - TV, free safe, minibar, big bathroom with shower stall, good lighting, very clean & comfortable. #321 and #320 share a balcony so be sure you know who your neighbor is before sleeping with the balcony doors open all night! The breakfast buffet was very good. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars nearby.

look at this mess of wires in the room in the pic. what a disaster. no concierge. you can't be a five star hotel without a concierge. not the best location for pleasure, maybe business. entire hotel smells of smoke. first thing you will notice.

My room, for just myself, was probably the smallest room in the hotel. Single, but long enough, bed. The bathroom was small; I had to close the door to use the toilet. The shower was large enough. The tv gets CNN in English, but the tv could be upgraded to a larger flatscreen. The A/C worked perfectly and accurately. There is an in room safe. The breakfast was excellent with scrambled eggs and bacon for us Americans, and their pastries were some of the best I have had of my 5 hotels in It... Read more

This lovely hotel in the center of Palermo is full of old world charm and new world conveniences. The d√©cor is perhaps a bit ‚??over the top‚?? for today's tastes but it lovingly puts you in another era. Viewed it all lit up from the street at night is a delight. Do read about its history on their web site. My husband and I stayed here for three nights during a 2 week guided tour of Sicily. It is close to historic sites, restaurants, bars and gelaterias. Our room, number 215, was at th... Read more

This early 20th century building was remodeled into a palace. It is named after Richard Wagner who once lived in the same street. The rooms are elegant but small. With only one chair it is difficult to put out one's belonging. The same is true in the bathroom. One feels crowded. The service is good. The hotel has no restaurant but good restaurants are close by.The breakfast is on the skimpy side.

While on a business trip to Palermo i stayed at the Wagner for 3 nights and really enjoyed my time there. The room was small, but clean, the interior looked like you were staying at little palace. Breakfast was fine with fresh squeezed juices, cold cuts and cheese and many pastries. I also liked the location of the hotel as it is in walking distance from many sights and shopping opportunities. Still the best part of the experience for me was the friendly staff that had the room ready in time, ga... Read more

Gisella at the front desk was 5-star quality. Helpful beyond belief, especially when we thought we got scammed for parking. She actually talked to the alleged perp (turned out it was just tradition). The building is so very elegant and rooms large. Centrally located to the lovely Politeama part of the city. Parking was a challenge but the staff really helped out with suggestions. Comfortable.

We arrived well before check-in time, but were accommodated immediately. The concierge recommended a wonderful restaurant called Scuddiero's. The location was between two great areas to visit. Teatro Massimo and shopping was a 10 minute walk in one direction and the symphony and high end shops were a five minute walk in the other. We would stay here again.

Our daughter was getting married in Palermo. She recommended that we stay at Wagner. We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and services at the Wagner. We had several family members and friends staying at the hotel and we were all provided with excellent service. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms are a good size for a European hotel. The morning breakfast is excellent; it includes eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, pastries, etc.. The employees really exceeded our expectations for service.

We like it! It's a really old school place. I bet the rooms were spectacular in 1930! They have been renovated but don't come here looking for modern. Small by US standards, nice by European standards. Some rooms have parts of the wall finish that are failing. Internet is speedy, the bar is way-way overpriced (don't get a drink here). The lobby is from the turn of the century cool. The place is quiet. Breakfast is a disappointment if you like healthy stuff... It's a few miles from the centre ... Read more

Our room was on the smaller side, but clean and comfortable. This is a great hotel for one night in Palermo. It is located a couple of blocks from the main corso with great restaurants and shops. The hotel staff was fantastic and pointed us in the right direction for our short tour of the city. We enjoyed our stay.

This is a Beautiful hotel that walks the thin line between old and modern. Yes they do have wifi BUT the password is different on each floor. Yes they do have A/C but not very powerful. The staff is very anxious to please and the location is excellent.

Hotel was okay but certainly not a great experience...We were there in early September and temps in low 90's and only rooms air conditioned...Heavy drapes and rugs so a mildew smell in hotel..A/C had to be controlled at desk so was a nuisance getting comfortable temps in room...Room on third floor ,,inside,, so no view but at least quiet,,,Breakfast was good and attendants very nice especially David...Good location but not impressive looking from outside...

Just stayed at the Grand Hotel Wagner for 2 nights in September and was not impressed. it is definitely not a 5 star property. The hotel is in a great location but its common rooms are a little shabby and the main entrance carpet is dirty and worn. Our room was small and the bathroom was tiny with a dangerous shower. The 2 of us could not be in the washroom at the same time!! Our window looked out onto a concrete wall as well. At breakfast we were not served cafe americano...it was in urns and t... Read more
