We were notified on the day of our arrival that our original hotel in Florence was "overbooked" so we had to frantically search for an alternative whilst at the airport. The San Gallo Palace was our last minute choice and we were very pleased with the hotel and the entire experience. Reception area was lovely and the staff friendly (they were happy to answer questions, provided a map and also a voucher for a welcome drink at the bar). We were also delighted that a bottle of prosecco and some nib... Read more

My friend and I stayed for 5 nights 2 weeks ago. The hotel is a little out of the way from center of town but it's really accessible once you get to know the area. The staff is amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate us in any way we needed. Breakfast is amazing and the staff serving breakfast are the sweetest people. I would love to come back to Florence and stay at this hotel! Best hotel!!!!

The San Gallo Palace is about a 20 minute walk from the station in a quiet area in town. It was beautiful inside, especially the rooms near reception which contained some elegant furniture & paintings with couches & chairs where you could relax. The hotel has a lift and our bedroom was well appointed and a good size, a good size bathroom with a bath & shower with towels changed daily. There is even a coffee machine in the room with free pods each day. I stayed in the San Gallo Palace Hotel for one night and I wish I had made it for longer. It has old world charm mixed delightfully with modern service and comfort and I left feeling completely rested and pampered. Carlo the manager is such a gentleman in the old sense of the word. He saw me standing behind the reception desk while his staff looked after two groups of people. He instantly came around to me and asked how he could help. I congratulated him for his exceptional customer care and tha... Read more

Great price and friendly staff. It was basically a last minute selection and my wife and I were traveling with her mom. They upgraded us to a suite for free (which we greatly appreciate). They also helped us when we forgot our camera bag at the airport! Free breakfast was tasty and they offered us great suggestions and information throughout our stay. Thank you!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the San Gallo Palace Hotel. Our only regret is that we there just one night. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were there celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary, and the hotel honored us with a room upgrade, a bottle of champagne, and a beautifully handwritten welcome and congratulations note. The room was very clean with a large shower and bathtub, a hair dryer and toiletries including shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, and ... Read more

We spent three nights in June at San Gallo Palace, and enjoyed it completely! Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was extremely helpful, with Stephania even letting us borrow her personal umbrella one day! It was a 20 minute walk to the Academia, about 25 to the Duomo and 30 to the Uffizi. We liked that it was not in the middle of the big attractions, so we could escape the crush of tourists. We were able to use their complementary bikes one morning, but caution ... Read more

The attention was excellent and the room/prices were good. The concierge was a good guide through the town and the fact that they have bicycles for rent was perfect. That helped to cut down transportation costs plus it's a great way to know Florence.

Breakfast offer was not very wide, however it was very good and the cappuccino made by them (they do not have a coffee machine as most of the hotels) was excellent! I stayed here for two nights and in comparison to the hotel I stayed in at Venice, this was so much better. Staff were very friendly, place is super clean, the food is nice and the rooms are spacious, simple but classy. Only thing I didn't like was I was to pay â?¬40 per night for a room with a nice view which is wrong. In my opinion I think whoever comes first should be able to have a pick of what room they want.

Firstly, this hotel is an oasis of calm in the middle of Florence! The staff were wonderfully polite and attentive, taking care of all our needs. As soon as the receptionist realised we were on our honeymoon, we received a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful room. The room had a balcony with table and chairs and a well appointed bathroom. When I book a "superior room" I expect something above the average. I don't expect alot but here it felt like a very very ordinary room. Slighlty outdated and really not alot round about it. Other than a very busy roundabout you step out onto from the hotel entrance. The hotel staff were all good and generally I could not fault anyone of them. They were welcoming and attentive. The Hotel San Gallo Palace is a luxurious, warm and cosy hotel in the north of Florence. It is within easy walking distance of everywhere within the city and easy to get around. The staff are unfailingly polite and courteous who we could not speak highly enough of during our stay. Particular perks are the refreshments in the room and the discounts they have with local restaurants (in the Mercato specifically). We thoroughly recommend this place.

Very good room, was upgraded to a suite and had a nice view. The hotel was quite near the rail station just 10 min by taxi. Used taxi on 4 occasions and paid from â?¬ 7 to 16!!! The problem is no restaurant nearby so if arriving late at night then be prepared to sleep with a sandwich. Shampoo in the bathroom but no conditioner. I telephoned earlier and requested hotel reception to get me tickets to Accamadia and was confirmed. Checked in and was told tickets sold out, went to Accamadia and found... Read more

The hotel you could not fault at all. The rooms were large and very clean. Hotel staff extremely helpful . Breakfast was a very good selection. About 15 minute walk to Duomo. But there are restaurants around the area which are slightly cheaper than the centre of Florence

We had a fantastic stay at this Hotel. It is centrally located and about a 15 minute walk into the Florence city centre. The rooms were large and clean. Our room was lovely and the other room for the family had an enormous balcony. The hotel gave us vouchers for a drink at the lovely hotel bar and we did enjoy these! There is a campervan parked out the front that gives this place a unique touch. They also gave another voucher to visit a food outlet at the Florence central market and that is well... Read more

This is our second stay at the San Gallo Palace and we have enjoyed both visits. It is far enough from the Duomo to be quieter, but close enough to walk everywhere. The rooms are small but comfortable with quality linens and furnishings. The staff is helpful, and the breakfasts served each morning a good start to the day. We will go back on our next trip to Florence.

We received excellent as well as friendly service at Hotel San Gallo Palace. Daniel, one of the desk managers, was always ready with good advice for unusual places to visit since this was my husband and my third visit to Florence, but we were traveling with novices. The location was perfect, withinin walking distance of all the points of interests in Florence as well as restaurants and cafes.

No hot water for two multi-hour stretches in 24 hours. A King bed = two twin mattresses pushed together. Other than that, it was fine for the price. Little far from the central area of Florence but there is the C1 bus to take. Fine for a night or two, but we had just stayed in a nice AirBnB right in the center of town so this was a downgrade.

Very pleasant hotel. Helpful staff and clean comfortable room. If your a good walker you can get everywhere from here but if you don't like to walk you might want something a little closer to the main tourist area.

Yeh..the title sums it up. The first main city centre attraction is only 10 mins from this hotel, so that was good. After that you get into an entertained walk through the cobble walks. Breakfast buffets is one of the best I have had in a hotel and the coffees were great. Temperature in the room wasnt fresh enough for my comfort. Room and toilet/shower was clean and had what was needed. Very good.

The locations is good - a little bit of a walk to attractions but not bad. The hotel is clean, rooms are nice, the only negative was that there was not a restaurant on the premises. There are a couple small eateries within a very short walking distance, but in a downpour, that is still a little far and would have been nice to have an in house option other than just a bar. Overall very nice.

I would have given a slightly higher rating for the San Gallo which is a perfectly pleasant and clean hotel but for the handling of our bathroom ceiling falling in at midnight on our second night. I had just stepped out of the bath to go and phone reception about water beginning to pour through the ceiling above the bath when that part of the ceiling came crashing into the bath. We were moved to another room but at no time did the manager of the hotel attempt to find me to apologise or offer co... Read more

Hotel and rooms were clean and quiet. Nice complete breakfast buffet. Location is about a 20-30 minute walk to/from historic Florence area, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your location preferences. A couple of restaurants serving burgers and other basics are next door with covered outdoor seating. The hotel bar (downstairs) was a very nice find. We had two days in Florence and got a deal with secret escapes which was great value. The deal included free bike hire and drink. We did not use the bikes as it was so busy you would struggle to get round. Also as we were out all day never got to use our drinks vouchers. Hotel had nice rooms and feel about it with friendly staff. The only possible issue is if you do not like walking as it is a good 15 minutes walk to the tourist and historical parts.

We stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon, and we had no complaints. The staff was always helpful, breakfast was delicious, and the room was bigger than we expected and always very clean. (we were told most rooms were very small compared to what we were used to in the United states) Location was nice as well, there were some less touristy restaurants close, but all the major attractions were just a decent walk away, many just strait down one street.

This is a great boutique hotel, well-situated, with a friendly and very helpful staff. The hotel is a pleasant fifteen or twenty-minute walk to the Duomo, and there are terrific little restaurants nearby. While checking in, my wife discovered that she had left her purse on the back seat of the taxi. The young man behind the counter ("Jet") located the correct taxi company, the precise cab, and the purse within an hour! The purse was returned, all contents intact, the next morning. The break... A really nice hotel with friendly staff and good room amenities. Good selection at breakfast. A little way a way from the main attractions but if you don't mind walking is a good location. Please turn on the air conditioning. It it ridiculous that the rooms were very very stuffy with no air flow. You can't open the windows of the room as the traffic noise is too loud. We had booked a more expensive hotel up the street to be near our son's apartment (he was an NYU-Florence student) but the original hotel was noisy, and the room was very small.
