We stayed at this hotel during the Easter Weekend. The hotel is operated from what I assume was an house of one of the more affluent residents of Florence back in its heyday. It is an old building but clean. We found the hotel staff really knowledgeable and willing to help. Another big plus is the available secure parking behind the building. The breakfast was good too, with friendly staff. I would love to visit this hotel again, perhaps in the summertime.

We stayed one night for a quick visit to Florence. The location provided the perfect opportunity to walk to Florence and sightsee situated on a quiet, scenic street just outside of the walled city. We enjoyed the included breakfast in the morning with cappuccino.

Beautiful old fashioned Villa, staff very helpful, rooms clean and spacious. Plenty for breakfast, one day when we went for breakfast they had run out of scrambled egg, but they cooked it fresh for me, lovely thank you. Within walking distance into Florence and restaurants, for us it was great. Lovely pool even though we did not get to use it as weather was very hit and miss. Also the free parking meant you could leave the car and just walk everywhere. Thank you

This hotel is in a quiet leafy location, just a 20 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. An elegant old building, it has charm, but alas, the present owners need to invest some serious money if they wish it to compete with modern well appointed hotels. Whilst the room was clean, it felt 'worn out' - insufficient power points (and those that there were seemed "rickety"), no dresser, no full length mirror and a ridiculously designed wardrobe with the rail about 7â?? high. The separate toilet + bidet... Read more

Probably a mansion at one time, the hotel is delightful. It reminded me a bit of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel movie about a hotel that was once quite impressive but is now perhaps a little faded. Don't get me wrong - it's not shabby by any means, but it's not exactly the height of sophistication either. As an example, rooms only have rather large skeleton-type keys instead of the more common magnetic strip card in most hotels these days. It only adds to its character though. The rooms ... Read more

Room needed some updating (fixtures in bathroom falling apart, shower door wouldn't shut, old room smell) but who cares when you're staying in such a lovely place with a lovely staff. Tree lined street next to boboli gardens, wonderful breakfast, historic feel, only minutes walk from pitti palace. Very happy with this charming experience !

The Villa Carlotta is nicly set in the hills of Florenz surrounded by several other villas. It has everything you need for a nice stay: Pool, large rooms, TV, Internet, and is by Taxi not far from the center. However, the interior is a bit old, and everything seems a bit too cosy/aged. Breakfast is not very good.

We booked this hotel through Expedia's top secret hotels, which is meant to be where you get a 4/5* hotel for a better rate due to last minute availability. This hotel does advertise a 4* rating but it is a 1* at the very most. The bedrooms are very dated and dingy, there was no hot water 2 out of the 3 days we were there, and the air-conditioning was an ancient box that just about worked. Very basic, very much like a hostel, breakfast was awful and rooms had a horrible smell. The only good thin... Read more

It is unbelievable to see rooms like that and be asked to pay more than the average rate per night for Florence. Walls, floor, desk, curtains, windows, everything dirty. Not that we were not able to move and sleep in the room (having a very nice bed) but whenever we were focusing our view in various areas in the room, it was more than easy to see how dirty it was. The breakfast was for a 1 star hotel max. Right outside our room the cleaning ladies had their storage closet, and it was open having... Read more

Great place for resting after city turmoil. Small pool outside the breakfast area allows you to breathe the clean air of the surroundings. Still, the breakfast needs improvement, considering the hotel ambitions, and the rooms quality can be changed with little maintenance effort.

First the good points; Wi-fi - great Beds - comfortable Room - clean Staff - very friendly Location - quiet Now the average - pool is nice, but should be cleaned every day. Food options are limited, breakfast very average. Mini bar prices reasonable. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. And finally...the bad points. Air con is rubbish in the main building, needs a major upgrade. And a lot of the fixtures and fittings need an overhaul... Overall, reasonable...

The surroundings are great, full of trees and green, splendid location. Great to get some quality time after the noisy and crowded city. Villa is also beautiful, with nice big rooms with large windows. There is also an outdoor pool, with jacuzzi, where you can take the morning coffee/tee in peace. Still, when is comes to cleaning, much can be done to make is better. It may be old but this doesn't meen to ignore maintenance on electric, doors and carpets. Breakfast is also quite limited for the 4... Read more

This is a very tired looking hotel but it is well situated close to the Porta Romana. The website picture shows the original Villa but we were in an annexe on the first floor. The décor is art deco (coloured glass and rather tacky looking chandeliers with several bulbs missing.) We had a really tiny room with an even tinier bathroom. To be fair they were both very clean but needed some basic maintenance. Damp patches on walls may have been treated but were not repainted. The wardrobe was ri... Read more

Stayed 3 nights with 2 kids. All 3 nights ac not working. Had to request for fans. Told them at least 4 times thats its really hot and with mosquitos the night is rough. No One ever came bk and informed us about any progress on the air conditioner. Towels not folded and not cleaned. Poor customer service. No efforts made to accommodate us rather we were asked to adjust. Family run style business with no professionalism. Next time will not stay even if its free.

I booked this hotel for our trip to Florence for the convenient location, and that it specified that the rooms had air conditioning, which is a must for my husband's heat induced asthma issues. When we arrived the entrance from the street was not well marked and we passed it by and were not sure where to park. We went into the reception desk to find Angela the front desk attendant busily on the computer (which she seemed to be on and occupied with rather than the customer's needs the majority of... Reading some recent reviews had us concerned but our 3 night stay was perfect. Lovely cool room, very comfy bed, breakfast was ample, staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean. A £10 taxi ride to city. Pool clean and well maintained. A late evening request for food was enthusiastically accepted and a quality plate of meats, cheeses, salad and panini were delivered.
