This hotel is a great find! It's located in a beautiful villa surrounded by a park. The rooms are very spacious, pretty and clean. The staff is kind and helpful. The hotel is a 20' walk from Ponte Vecchio, and the walk to get there is nice itself. In the back garden there are some tables and chairs which surely make a nice spring/summer spot to rest or read a book. Definitely recommended!

Florence can be expensive and this hotel solves the problem. If you are driving, there is ample parking on the grounds of the hotel for 5 euro per day. The room is super clean, big spacious modern bathroom with all products. Breakfast was adequate and if you want to walk to the center, it takes about 25 minutes, downhill or a bus across the street.

This was one of the best places I have stayed on my trip. The villa is located a bit from from the hubbub, about 500 meters from the Porta Romana, in a large garden with tall shade trees. A bus stop nearby takes your directly into town, or for those who like walking, you can get into the Oltr'Arno on foot. The air is fresher and there are few traffic noises. The rooms are small in size like nearly all 3 star hotels, but it has everything you need including a mini fridge. The family who runs... Read more

I checked the reviews before I booked and I was not disappointed. This was my partners 40th birthday surprise. The hotel is 20 mins easy walk to the centre of Florence or a 10 euro taxi or a bus if you prefer. The hotel is set in lovely Tuscan style gardens which are joy to wake up to. We had a bedroom overlooking direct onto to gardens- wow. Inside is everything you could wish for, marble, stone, high ceilings. The bedrooms were spotless and cleaned daily, bathrooms are excellent. The breakfast... Read more

We had high expectations based on the glowing reviews we read prior to booking. Our strategy for visiting tourist laden old towns is to find a nice 4 star or better hotel outside the walls within a reasonable walking distance. Except for the government 3 star rating, Villa Betania fit our strategy. In fact the walk to the Porto Romano and Boboli Gardens was 15 minutes (downhill aided). We did walk back each day, but could easily have taken a bus that stopped at the hotel gate. The hotel is a... Read more

Plus points: Friendly staff, nice grounds, comfortable rooms, character. Very good if you have a car and want easy access to it as you leave it in the drive in front of the hotel. Negative: need to bus / cab into city. No restaurants immediately next to hotel ( some 15 mins walk). Walking into city possible but long and along a busy road with an uneven pavement (sidewalk). We had a car and were with parents so was a good quiet and practical option and we were happy to take a taxi into city Cen... Read more

Villa Betania is located on the south side of the Arno, about a kilometer south of Porto Romano and two kilometers from the Ponte Vecchio. It's straight up a pretty good hill from the Porto Romano. You can walk to the old town, but it's a 30 minute trek along often very rough and sometimes very narrow sidewalks, and in the summer, it is a hard slog back. Because my wife is in a wheelchair, we ended up taking a taxi both ways, which is not too expensive, and generally involved a relatively sho... Read more
