Stayed for 3 nights in March 2016. Fabulous location very friendly staff. Breakfast not the best so only went once. Lovely large room . The location is second to none such a magical place. The hotel is really quirky and in fact did not see any other guests other than when we went for breakfast. The room was large television really dated and no tea and coffee facilities which would be an added bonus. The roof view is amazing and well worth going up , it must be lovely in the warmer months to sit ... Read more

Hotel is in an ideal position. It's lovely to stand by the river soaking up the atmosphere before retiring to bed. We were greeted on arrival by a very helpful member of staff who gave us plenty of information about the hotel and the surrounding area. Our room was lovely and clean and full of character. It was quite exciting to read about its history and the tower offers wonderful views of the city. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly offering me a cappuccino the moment I sat dow... This is probably the most difficult review I've written in a long time. The hotel demands a commanding position just a stone's throw from the Ponte Vecchio and other must see sights.Breakfast was very good and, in general, the staff were amenable and helpful. However, the room was very dark and lacked a few facilities that one would expect from a three star hotel (a full length mirror, somewhere to plug in a hairdryer, a chest of drawers) My main issue though was that we were woken at 6am for fo... We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Torre Guelfa in Florence. It was a perfect location. Quick taxi ride from the train station and just steps from the Ponte Vecchio. The front desk staff was very nice and quite helpful. They were able to make advance reservations to two local museums saving us lots of time by avoiding the long "stand by" entrances. Our room was quite large although a little dark and the bathroom was super clean but perhaps a bit small - more than adequate tho. The included br... Read more

Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location is perfect for anything you want to do in firenze. We asked Luigi for directions to our dinner idea...he walked us there on his way home...it was really close. And the first of many great recommendations by Luigi. Upon arrival we shared it was a return visit and our birthday - they called and asked if they could send up proseco! We spent four hours on the private patio of room 315 relaxing and playing like kids while the sun set on the... Read more

Three things make this hotel very special: 1. Location: It is steps away from Ponte Vecchio and minutes away from the amazing sites of Florence. In fact, it is only about 10 minutes walking from the train station. You really can't ask for a better location. 2. The view from the Tower: The hotel has an amazing tower overlooking all of Florence. It was amazing to see Florence in its all its splendour, morning, day and night. The view alone is worth staying at this hotel. 3. The people: Imran is... Read more

Friends recommended this hotel. On a previous trip we were not able to get a room so book early! Staff was very attentive, they serve a good breakfast, wish it opened a little earlier than 7:30 but still great. Bathroom had a roomier shower which is not common in some hotels. We walked to everything we wanted to see, enjoyed a spritz at the rooftop bar every evening. It's open from 5:30 to 9:30, although you do have to climb some stairs to get to it. The Torre Guelfa is located on a side street off the bustling Via Por Santa Maria. It is a convenient walk to the Ponte Vecchio, the Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio, and others. Part of the hotel is build into the medieval Torre Guelfa, which contains a very nice and little used lounge. 76 steps up from the lounge is an outdoor sitting area with magnificent views of the Duomo and the rest of the city. We took our kids on their first trip to Europe and were nervous as it was turning out to be a city vacation with no beach time. We went to Venice, Florence n Rome. We thought they'd like Florence the least as the kids don't enjoy art history. Their favorite turned out to be Florence! They loved coming back to the hotel at night after being out all day and enjoying the terrace. We were were so lucky one night when we got to see fireworks right next to the duomo while we were on the terrace. It h... Read more

Florence was our second stop on our honeymoon. We booked two nights in the terrace room, and a third in a junior suite because the terrace room wasn't available that night. They were kind enough to move our bags for us. The terrace room was lovely, with a canopy style bed, exposed beams, and of course, the terrace. It had an elegant, antiquey feel to it, as though you could almost be actually staying in a medieval tower. Air conditioning was up to American standards, and the breakfast buffe... Read more

The room was average. Wont blow you away but nice and clean. Average size for a European room. The building has a new elevator that is fast and roomy (for Europe). The staff is where this place really set itself apart! Wow, I felt like I made new friends and didn't want to leave! They answered every question, helped... Read more

My husband and 12 year old son stayed here 3 nights in July. We booked a triple room and it was fabulous. The location was perfect - it was on a quiet street but close to everything - including the Uffizi gallery and the Academia. We were walking distance from everything. The breakfast was very good and the tower gave an amazing view (if you aren't afraid of heights). Highly recommend

Very centrally-located, this was ideal for our short visit - only a minute or two's walk from the Arno, Palazzo Vecchio/Uffizi, Duomo, etc. Very comfortable, quirky, historic hotel with helpful staff, fascinating history, plus a unique rooftop bar and terrace with most impressive views over the surrounding city. Plenty of great restaurants in the immediate vicinity, too - we were spoilt for choice! Hope to go back again, soon.

I absolutely loved the staff here - especially Sara at he front desk. She was very friendly and always read to help with reservations, maps, directions, etc. The triple room itself was fairly plain but roomy enough for the 3 of us to do just fine for the very small amount of time we were in the room. The shower was fairly little.and just had a shower curtain and it was hard to shave legs in there. There was not a lot of room for our toiletry items. There was a door off the bathroom that led... We had a wonderful stay in the quadruple room. Not much of a view, but large accommodations and huge bathroom. The staff here is super nice, especially the concierges and the 'bar tender' up on the terrace. The tower and location of this hotel are second to none. It was absolutely beautiful to sit on the top terrace at sunset- the views and the service were incredible and the prices quite reasonable too. I would definitely stay here again.

We picked the hotel for its location and the opportunity to have a room with a private terrace. The hotel is pretty close to many of the main attractions, but is tucked down a small street so its surprisingly quiet. We booked the room with a private terrace. The views aren't so great as the terrace is only just above the surrounding rooftops, but it was lovely to be able to sit out and watch the swifts darting overhead. The views from the tower though are fantastic. The entrance to our room ... Read more

Torre Guelfa Hotel is located within walking distance of everything you will want to experience in Florence, but is also on a fairly quiet street that is a welcome respite from the crowds nearby. The building itself is beautiful and is drowning in history. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was outstanding, as was the dining room. The most unique aspect of the hotel is its rooftop bar. The rooftop is at the top of a very old tower (a pretty good climb) and features a bre... Read more

Wow, what an amazing hotel, full of character. The tower is left from an old 13th century palace, and as we checked in we were given a leaflet with a brief history of the place. It was the rooftop terrace that attracted me to this hotel, and it's super central location. I was not let down. The breakfast was simple but nice, all you really need when you need to leave room for pasta an pizza throughout the day! Our room was quite strange, it had two quite small doors to walk through and it was very old. But it is a medieval building on a thin cobbled street, so what can you expect. It was clean, and a good size bathroom and bedroom. If you aren't going to spend heaps o... Read more

Fabulous hidden gem of a hotel nestled in an 'alleyway' 2 minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio. Rooms are well appointed in a very shabby chic way. Tiny rooftop bar is really amazing, if a little crowded at peak times. Breakfast was the only disappointment in that it was 'average' rather than superb. But please don't get me wrong it was more than OK. Free wifi and really quiet, tranquil overall ambience.

We were here with a Rick Steves Tour. It was a great pick and probably the most luxurious hotel we stayed at. I love history and the fact that this was an old tower built in the 13th century that was converted into a hotel was a huge bonus to me. There was a gate at the entrance to the tower when you first arrive. The lobby isn't much to look at but there is a more formal room and the breakfast room on the third floor. Our room was not huge but adequate. We had a beautiful canopy bead, I'v... Read more
