We booked our Florence with a need to be near the Duomo. Our daughter is studying in Florence and her apartment is in the area. Our travel agent recommended Hotel Mona Lisa having stayed here herself. The hotel is charming and older. Not terribly large. The pictures on the website are accurate. We were not disappointed. Since this was our first trip to Italy and we do not speak Italian, we appreciated the English speaking staff. They are gracious and helpful. The hotel's garden area is a treat. ... Read more

Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, would recommend it to anyone travelling to Florence who wants to stay somewhere special. Clean, quiet and friendly. An absolute treasure in a wonderful city and so close to the centre too. Cant see anyone being disappointed.

This is our second stay at the Monna Lisa. This hotel is excellent at every level, from front desk and room service, breakfast and the bar, the rooms overlooking the garden, the appointment of the rooms and location. The front of the hotel has the character of the centuries old building that houses it. The location is within walking distance of all of Florence. Molto bene!

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at the Mona Lisa. It is unquestionably our favorite place to stay in Florence. Comfortable and stylish rooms, great customer service, and a location that can't be beat. What more is there to say?

The room 26 is dark and not as far as beautifull as the rooms exposed at the website. The staff is friendly. The hotel is well situated to the center, so that you can walk everywhere easily. The entry and the garden are lovely.

The location of the hotel could not be faulted - within a few minutes walk of all key places of interest and in a quiet (narrow) street. Steeped in character with friendly staff it made for a very pleasant stay. We stayed in October when the weather was not good enough to take breakfast on the terrace which made taking breakfast a bit of a bun fight. There is fairly steep charge for internet in the bedrooms and the internet connection in the communal areas is poor - a great chance to escape w... Read more

This is an interesting hotel. We did not have a bright room like that pictured but rather a very dark room with deep red bedding and wallpaper and curtains with stained rugs. Not at all cheery. The common areas were worn and dingy filled with eclectic art which made it look neglected rather than charming. The gardens were lovely, breakfast was good and the location convenient but overall a disappointment.

Hotel Monna Lisa was recommended to us by a friend who has stayed there numerous times, and the experience did not disappoint! The staff were all helpful and friendly, the setting lovely and welcoming, the garden a calm, green respite after hours of touring on cobblestone streets and urban museums. We also found the location to be extremely convenient for getting around to various sites around the city, with some excellent restaurants, shopping, post office, etc. all within walking distance.

The Hotel Monna Lisa, originally was a Villa. The owners have kept that feeling by having original art, and antiques, throughout the establishment. Upon arrival one walks through a beautiful courtyard, then enters the Lobby, of the Hotel. Check in is very quick, and you immediately feel your in a special place. The lobby has the feel of a comfortable drawing room, in a old villa, you want to sit and read a book, instead of exploring Florence. Off the lobby is a small bar, where it is very ea... Read more

We loved our stay there. The rooms are decorated in old world Italian fabrics and furniture. The living areas for guests are comfortable and inviting, including their bar which is open every afternoon. The breakfast room is beautiful with excellent food and service, and you can sit inside or outside. It has a beautiful garden which provides a quiet backdrop for the guests' rooms.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel centrally located but far enough away from the noisy areas of town. It was well within walking distance and made for a perfect place to tour Florence on foot. The front desk staff were great and the breakfast room and breakfast were also above average. The room though was a bit dark and dingy.

Customer service levels provided by staff were uneven. Our initial experience was very positive. Upon arrival there was a lovely lady (Regina) at the front desk who was very helpful to us and accommodated our questions and needs. She provided a high level of personal customer service during our stay. On the other end of the spectrum, there was another lady (name escapes us) at guest reception who was not committed to customer service. On more than one occasion, she displayed an uninterested ... This place is beautiful! It is a former convent and is not modern by any means, but the building and grounds (especially the garden) are well maintained and nicely decorated. The rooms are small but clean and our room had a view overlooking the garden. Many of the reviews mention "outdated", but that to me is part of its charm and attraction. Breakfast was good, with an assortments of cheeses, croissants, cereals, and fruits. Customer service was good. Actually I'd say Regina was great. So warm ... Read more

This was a return visit to the Monna Lisa after 10 years, and it was exactly as I remembered â?? felt like coming home each time we returned to the hotel. Not stuffy, and a little quirky, but nice. The staff was very helpful but never overbearing, and it was so easy to get wherever we wanted to go in the city from Borgo Pinti. Quiet and private - I would recommend it highly to someone who doesn't care about the trappings of more expensive hotels.

Loved the hotel and location but be aware that there are a lot of changes in levels throughout the hotel. My mother in law fell and needed stitches in her head. While the hotel staff were very nice about helping us, they barely went out of their way to make it easier on her. No apologies, no perks, just telling us how to get to the nearby Emergency room and asked a few times how she was doing. Disappointing. Otherwise, hotel good value .

My wife and stayed at the Monna Lisa hotel between 22 to 24 Jun 2016. We found the hotel to be charming, very clean, nice comfortable beds, good wifi, nice a/c, reasonably sized rooms and excellent staff. It has a very good breakfast. It is centrally located within walking distance of all Florence major attractions -- we even walked to/from the train station. There is a very nice, non touristy, piazza a short walk as one exits to the right of the entrance. It has a nice history. W... Read more

You can expect to trade some minor modern creature comforts for classic accommodation - e.g. I couldn't stand up straight in the shower. Location is ideal for exploring the city. The staff are exceptional in their endeavour to attend to anything you need. Street noise in Borgo Pinti late in the night from scooters and revellers means that anyone used to tranquillity needs to ensure they get a room facing the courtyard.

The hotel did not tell us that we could ignore the ZTL zones which made getting to the hotel quite stressful. The hotel is old - obviously and of historic interest. What a privilege to stay somewhere with such history. BUT - there's an over whelming sense of age - it is hard to describe. There is very little "sparkle" or freshness about the place. The staff are pleasant enough but don't go out of their way to welcome you but rather sit behind the big reception desk. More could be made of t... Read more

My husband, young son and I stayed at the Mona Lisa and we loved it. A great location for seeing the sights. We loved the cool dark rooms with antique furniture, the dark green marble bathroom with lots of white fluffy towels, the well stocked mini-bar and we loved the courtyard with scented Plants and trees. It may have been a little noisy outside with the scooters but we are in the centre of Florence after all.

Charming, eclectic hotel in the center of Florence, close to the Duomo. Just right for families, with: friendly staff; cool, dark & spacious rooms; and a sumptuous Continental breakfast buffet. Our foodie highlights: - Smooth & creamy hot chocolates - not too hot & served in silver pots,10/10 - Homemade crunchy granola, 8/10 - Fresh fruit salad, 9/10 - Marmalade turnover with flaky puff pastry & a sprinkling of icing sugar, 10/10 Address: Hotel Monna Lisa. This was a recommendation. Great hotel. Location is key in Florence, major tourist attractions 15 mins walk. Centrally located, has lovely gardens and good size rooms. THIS IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL!!! This hotel is in a good location but the hotel itself is terrible. The staff are rude and the rooms are like a dungeon. Do not stay here. The toilet broke at midnight the water kept running and there was nothing they could do but move us to another (terrible) room and we have to move all of our luggage up 2 flights of stairs in the middle of the night. The decor and style of the hotel is ugly and everything is old.

Hotel has a nice garden and at the heart of Firenza. The decor and furniture were "classical" Italian. But the wi-fi was impractically slow and the staff at the front desk was cold and unfriendly. Early morning (7:30), the breakfast staff was short handed.

My expectations were not unreasonable however this hotel was not nice. The front desk staff is not helpful or friendly. The rooms are smelly and we came home one night and someone had been inside our room. They took our bedspread and wadded it up and put it in the wardrobe. It's a very nice hotel with a lot of charm and excellent service. The garden is nice for a relaxing evening. Each room has its own character. We have been here twice. This time, our room was very big with three AC units!, a very nice thing for the hot July weather. The location is excellent as everything is at a short walking distance. I will go back without thinking it twice!
