We booked our Florence with a need to be near the Duomo. Our daughter is studying in Florence and her apartment is in the area. Our travel agent recommended Hotel Mona Lisa having stayed here herself. The hotel is charming and older. Not terribly large. The pictures on the website are accurate. We were not disappointed. Since this was our first trip to Italy and we do not speak Italian, we appreciated the English speaking staff. They are gracious and helpful. The hotel's garden area is a treat. ... Read more

This is our second stay at the Monna Lisa. This hotel is excellent at every level, from front desk and room service, breakfast and the bar, the rooms overlooking the garden, the appointment of the rooms and location. The front of the hotel has the character of the centuries old building that houses it. The location is within walking distance of all of Florence. Molto bene!

The location of the hotel could not be faulted - within a few minutes walk of all key places of interest and in a quiet (narrow) street. Steeped in character with friendly staff it made for a very pleasant stay. We stayed in October when the weather was not good enough to take breakfast on the terrace which made taking breakfast a bit of a bun fight. There is fairly steep charge for internet in the bedrooms and the internet connection in the communal areas is poor - a great chance to escape w... Read more

This is an interesting hotel. We did not have a bright room like that pictured but rather a very dark room with deep red bedding and wallpaper and curtains with stained rugs. Not at all cheery. The common areas were worn and dingy filled with eclectic art which made it look neglected rather than charming. The gardens were lovely, breakfast was good and the location convenient but overall a disappointment.

Hotel Monna Lisa was recommended to us by a friend who has stayed there numerous times, and the experience did not disappoint! The staff were all helpful and friendly, the setting lovely and welcoming, the garden a calm, green respite after hours of touring on cobblestone streets and urban museums. We also found the location to be extremely convenient for getting around to various sites around the city, with some excellent restaurants, shopping, post office, etc. all within walking distance.

The Hotel Monna Lisa, originally was a Villa. The owners have kept that feeling by having original art, and antiques, throughout the establishment. Upon arrival one walks through a beautiful courtyard, then enters the Lobby, of the Hotel. Check in is very quick, and you immediately feel your in a special place. The lobby has the feel of a comfortable drawing room, in a old villa, you want to sit and read a book, instead of exploring Florence. Off the lobby is a small bar, where it is very ea... Read more

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel centrally located but far enough away from the noisy areas of town. Customer service levels provided by staff were uneven. Our initial experience was very positive. Upon arrival there was a lovely lady (Regina) at the front desk who was very helpful to us and accommodated our questions and needs. This place is beautiful! It is a former convent and is not modern by any means, but the building and grounds (especially the garden) are well maintained and nicely decorated. This was a return visit to the Monna Lisa after 10 years, and it was exactly as I remembered ‚?? felt like coming home each time we returned to the hotel. Not stuffy, and a little quirky, but nice. The staff was very helpful but never overbearing, and it was so easy to get wherever we wanted to go in the city from Borgo Pinti. Quiet and private - I would recommend it highly to someone who doesn't care about the trappings of more expensive hotels.

Loved the hotel and location but be aware that there are a lot of changes in levels throughout the hotel. My mother in law fell and needed stitches in her head. While the hotel staff were very nice about helping us, they barely went out of their way to make it easier on her. No apologies, no perks, just telling us how to get to the nearby Emergency room and asked a few times how she was doing. Disappointing. Otherwise, hotel good value .

You can expect to trade some minor modern creature comforts for classic accommodation - e.g. I couldn't stand up straight in the shower. Location is ideal for exploring the city. The staff are exceptional in their endeavour to attend to anything you need. Street noise in Borgo Pinti late in the night from scooters and revellers means that anyone used to tranquillity needs to ensure they get a room facing the courtyard.

Elegant hotel with garden in central courtyard, walking distance to Duomo and museums. Peaceful reading/sitting rooms located throughout hotel. Parking available for those who like to drive in Italy. Excellent breakfast, but one thing missing from breakfast was a self-serve coffee station for those who must have their morning coffee before interacting with breakfast staff. For some reason window screens are not typical in Italy, so in Florence mosquitoes can be a nuisance in hotel rooms.

The hotel is an old palace so expect historic architecture. Our room was very lovely with a balcony which overlooked the lovely courtyard. We wanted to leave our balcony doors open but there were mosquitos which the hotel warns you about and even provides a plug in mosquito killer. The staff are helpful and the art throughout the hotel is quite extensive and interesting to note. My only complaint about the room was the very weak hairdryer in the bathroom. The breakfast room is very lovely an... Read more

Extraordinary service, great breakfast, fantastic location, as well as comfortable rooms make this a must stay place. An easy walk to the Duomo and a lot of great restaurants, they also have parking spaces available if arriving by car. Rooms with a garden view are spectacular but friends stayed in other very comfortable rooms as well. Highly recommended

Fabulous hotel, once a convent and palace, filled with antiques and artwork! Would prefer not to share this little gem with the rest of the world but ...... Perfectly situated in a very quiet area but just 5 minutes from all the major sites, this delightful hotel gives a taste of renaissance Florence. Beautifully decorated rooms with fabulous furniture to complement the huge room (ask for 31) and high carved wooden ceilings are warm and comfortable with a huge bed and quality linen. Breakfas... We stayed recently, for four nights, in the Monna Lisa Hotel in Florence, a delightful old residence in the centre of this historic city. Built around a courtyard garden, the reception rooms, tastefully and luxuriously decorated with many antique artefacts, created a delightful, quiet ambience in which to relax and unwind after days of sightseeing. Our classic bedroom was comfortable and spacious and overlooked the garden, although we missed the luxury of coffee making facilities in our room.Staf... We stayed 4 nights and this one ended up being a very good pick. It is just a 5 minute walk from the Duomo in a quiet street with a lovely interior garden. Our room was on the garden so very quiet. It has several nicely furnished seating rooms with several daily newspapers in different languages. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with fresh fruit salad every day. The rooms are nicely furnished with antique everywhere. The staff is full of attention serving us an early breakfasts for the mara... Read more

Convenient location and good accommodations. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay at The Mona Lisa again next time I return to Florence, Italy. Many good restaurants in the area to choose from, museums, and all within walking distance.
