This hotel is very convenient for connections from the station. It is well placed to view on foot all the main sights of the city. Our room was clean. It faced the Main Street Via Panzani and suffered from traffic noise. But hey you are in a city. The room did have 2 issues. 1. No curtain or blind to shut out the neon lights from the shops on the street opposite to the Hotel. 2. The bathroom, it measured approx 1.5 x 2.0 metres. The space was far too small for the old style sanitary ware in ther... Read more

I've stayed for 4 nights at this hotel in a huge room with a frescoed ceiling, overlook the quiet interior area. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable also in English, the common areas are many and very charming (it feels like someone‚??s home more than a hotel) and the location is the best you can get in Florence, 5 minutes from Duomo and 10 minutes from Santa Maria Novella on foot. The breakfast is cold yet covers all wishes (fresh coffee made by the waiters, fresh croissants, savoury st... Read more

What a charming place. If you are looking for modern and sleek. This is not for you. A converted monstary there is charm all around you. Although on a busy street the our room was very incredibly quiet. The breakfast basic and not outstanding coffee. There is a wonderful roof top terrace with amazing views of Firenza. The front desk staff couldn't have been nicer. I highly recommend this place.

I must admit we were a little wary about booking this hotel given some of the reviews here on this website‚?¶ However, we needn‚??t have been alarmed, everything was fine from the hotel‚??s wonderful location ‚?? only 5 minute walk from florence Cathedral ‚?? to the buffet breakfast which is served in a spacious vaulted room on the first floor with fabulous frescoes on the ceiling‚?¶ our room was a little tired but the tv worked (cnn and bbc world) plus the shower water pressure was fine. PROS: - Easy access from train station - Close to a good place to get coffee in the morning CONS - Our room was constantly hot with no way to adjust the A/C - upon checking in with our group, we asked for a small refrigerator to house medication and the rude desk clerk simply said, "Most of our guest don't require a refrigerator...." After insistence and quite a long wait, one did arrive. - upon checking in with our group, we asked if we could get some "Ice" for our room - the desk clerk's c... Read more

We stayed here for 4 nights in May for about $100 per night. We stayed in one of the better rooms, on the top floor of the hotel. This is not a typical modern hotel. There is no real lobby area and it is quite dated / feels more like an old apartment building than a hotel. Let's start with the positives: Location is great: It was a bed to sleep in very close to the train station, and the downtown area. Room is kept clean: Had no issues with the cleanliness of the room and other than ... Read more

Very close to Florence S.M.N train station so an easy 10 minute walk with the suitcases and no need for a taxi. Similarly close to the centre a mere few hundred metres from the Duomo. Very friendly and professional staff. The hotel has an usual layout that required using two different lifts but once the suitcases were deposited just as easy to use the stairs. A simply furnished bedroom but clean and perfectly acceptable.

We arrived by train and the hotel is five minutes away in a straight shot. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a nice breakfast. Location was great - in less than five minutes we were at the Duomo. They don't have wifi in all rooms. We were told our room didn't have it, we were able to pick up the signal, although it wasn't very strong. They have designated wifi areas. The only negative was that our air-conditioning was not very cool. Most of the year this shouldn't be a fa... Read more

The accommodation was basic. The bathroom was terrible with a shower over a bath with no curtain or screen. Wifi service was poor. Staff were not friendly. The only good thing about the hotel was its location not far from the Duomo.

I will start by saying this is our 4th hotel in Europe. Just slightly below average in accommodations, ranking below our hotels in Lyon and Rome. We paid more in Rome but less in Lyon. This more or less meets our expectations for the price, with the exception that the other hotels did not mislead us about their provisions. Free wifi is advertised although it is only available in the common areas. Upon arrival the concierge informed us we would not have access to wifi in our current room. We ask... Read more

We loved the location of Martelli Hotel, between Santa Maria Novella and the Duomo. But the room we had some issues. The air conditioning performed so poorly in the July heat that we opened the windows on a hot summer night to get fresh air. The bathroom was so narrow you had to stand in the hallway to rinse your face in the sink. The WiFi is weak and only available in two public areas; it didn't work the first day we were there. The staff was helpful at all times, but the shortcomings were too m... Read more

Booked this for a few nights just before new years. I don't remember what site, but much better rate than the one offered through the hotel. So, check internet sites for the best rates. If you are in Florence this is a GREAT location. Probably less than 1/4 mile from Duomo... GO TO DUOMO!... You can walk from this hotel to most of the major reasons you go to Florence. The breakfast is served in a lovely atmosphere and is about par for the course on hotel breakfasts, and certainly better th... Read more

We chose the hotel because of the price, location and WiFi available. The room, the breakfast and the athmosphere were good in the hotel, but we missed the WiFi. I was only once able to access the Network in the front of the lift door, which was a shame as there was promise that there is a functional network in common areas. I really would like to have a functional internet connection in hotels during my vacation as I plan my vacation during my trip and I am making reservations for the next s... Read more

We were unfortunate enough to book this hotel through lowcostholidays so our booking wasn't pre paid when we arrived. However, the hotel wouldn't honour the originally agreed price and we ended up paying nearly ‚?¨300 for 3 nights in a tiny room with a smelly bathroom. There is no mini bar and the wifi doesn't work. The staff were not friendly (not rude but barely cracked a smile) and the woman in the breakfast room was just downright scary! The hotel is close to the train station and to th... Read more

We unfortunately booked and paid for this through a company that went bankrupt last week. We only found this out when we arrived at the hotel. So when confronted with two confused and desperate women in a foreign country with no money or knowledge of the language the hotel took the opportunity to refuse to honour the original booking price and charged us over ‚?¨120 more for our stay. The room was tiny, the bathroom smelled of sewage, and the floors were not cleaned during our entire stay. ... Read more

Husband and I, we made holidays in august 2016 in Firenze and stayd at hotel Martelli in an economy room on the 3-rd floor. Everything in the hotel is fiorentino and I was glad to see small things which are important . The ceiling of the room was fiorentino with a glass chandelier, the real parkett wooden floor in perfect shape, smooth and not the smallest sound , unbelievable good mounted. Part of the furniture is new in this room , together it suits very good. The doors were painted a... Read more

Steps from the cathedral and main square, this hotel is well priced for Florence. However, the rooms are just okay, wifi is only available in a couple of designated areas (and spotty at best) and you'd better get down for breakfast early because it'll be all gone by 9 am. Front desk is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff is not. That said, we loved our stay in Florence. We were out early and came back to the hotel at night, exhausted and ready for bed. Absolutely loved this city.

Seriously. Avoid at all cost. I thought maybe other reviews were exaggerating because there were some good reviews. I was wrong. This place is a xxxxhole. Rust in the bathroom everywhere. Things breaking down. Unethical and unprofessional hotel manager. I booked a superior room but was only given a standard room. I asked for a refund, they only gave me back 12.50 euro. What a joke. If you check on their website, the difference between a standard and superior room is so much more than a pathe... Read more

Told we where given the biggest room in the hotel (not by choice) it seemed a ballroom, super spacious. Paintings italian style on the walls. Very cozy bathroom very small. Wifi only worked in designated areas so couldnt use it while inside the room. Breakfast very basic, old breads, needs improvement.

Very central, with fantastic architecture, but that's it. wrong reservations, poor breakfast buffet, poor Wifi signal even in the designated areas, the unavailability of staff to help (asked for more pillows and blankets and were not delivered. Half of eletricas plugs in our room did not work and no one wanted to know. in addition, the heating in our room did not work and nobody cared .

Every important place is so near so the location is perfect. The room wasn't the best, but it had a good atmosphere. Wifi was only available at the breakfast room, but we were lucky, because our room wasn't far from there (2016 february) We loved the hotel, it's like a labyrinth.

Good central location, few minutes walk from airport bus which terminates by the main station. Reception staff were a tad grumpy. No receipt given for tourist tax, which had to be paid in cash. Being built around a courtyard the bedrooms are randomly scattered. Took us more than one go to find our room, easier using stairs than lifts! Room itself was reasonable size, likewise the bathroom. Towels white and fluffy, sheets ironed and changed daily. The shower curtain was nigh on useless as it did... Read more

In the magic city of Florence Hotel Martelli is equally impressive, considering design and place. Great place, near railway station and near all the main sights of Florence. You can go everywhere by walking. Very small single room, difficult to move in it and even smaller shower. There isn't a shower cabin and this makes everything wet. You barely can stand in the bathroom. Very average breakfast. Only one smily and middle aged lady at the reception is polite and very helpful everytime you need ... Read more

A real 'Gem', albeit my first review, but previous visits confirm it is a lovely Hotel, in a good central position for the City as a whole, the balance being the wonderful staff, with adequate 'Continental' breakfast and the delightful 'Maria' (And colleague) in the dining room. The reception and other staff are also worth a mention, as always very helpful, noting that you get what you give !. We had previously stayed here in 2008 for 3 nights and liked the hotel and the location, so decided to return this year for another 3 nights. Unfortunately things are different now. I requested the same room, as it was large with a balcony. We were given that same room, but it now has rotting floorboards just outside the bathroom door, the fridge door was hanging off one hinge and the shutters on the windows are partly rotten and badly in need of a paint! When we reported these to reception we ... Read more
