This hotel is very walkable from the train station and close to many of the must see attractions. You won't need a taxi cab. The hotel is beautiful. Upon check-in, we were upgraded (not our request). The room is very clean (I'm a fanatic about this) and has some cool hi-tech features. The staff are English speaking and are very polite and helpful. Free complimentary breakfast in the morning. I especially enjoyed the prosciutto and melon. There is a roof top deck with a pool that I haven't visite... Read more

It's beside Santa Maria Novella, making almost everything worth seeing within walking distance. The hotel is undergoing renovations, so the lobby is fresh, however, I got an old room which was poor, worn out and badly equipped, given the hotel rates. I understand the new rooms are a lot better.

Perhaps I got the worst room here but I am genuinely surprised at the higher ratings. It's a fantastic location just west of the core and it's a minute walk to the train station and located in a picturesque piazza. The service is great... The room itself was the issue. If you're given room 102, ask for another one. The size is smaller than an office space with both the sink and toilet constantly leaking water. I was annoyed at the first but it provided some necessary white noise because the... Read more

Asked for a quite room high up, got it high up but the construction work started around 9 every morning. Had to ask the reception for the bathrobe and slippers, both were in order confirmation as well as on web page of the hotel. The excuse was that they are changing the web page? Had to ask for croissantes for BF, the tray was not filled automatically. Bathroom amenties low class.

Beautiful hotel just 5 minutes from the train station! The staff was so nice and welcoming and the newly renovated property was spectacular. Breakfast buffet had so many choices. They were finishing up a few things on the renovations but it didn't affect us. The rooftop bar and pool were very special. Would highly recommend Grand Hotel Minerva for the location, the accommodations and the wonderful staff. When I return to Florence I will stay there.

The hotel is in an amazing location and probably the best in Florence! Right next to Santa Maria in Piazza Novella and less than 5 mins to the duomo! The staff could not have been more helpful, directing us to be able to drive right up to the hotel and then taking the car away to be parked during our stay. The hotel is a good mix of nationalities, business and leisure so you are not bombarded with tourist talk and again the staff were so friendly and helpful, they made breakfast amazing! We ... We found this hotel last minute, and so glad we did! It is a newly renovated, with fantastic rooms and bathrooms. Our bathroom was so spacious, had a double sink, rain shower and bath. The room had a lovely view of the square. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There was no noise from the square at all, as mentioned in some of the reviews. Breakfast was great as well. We had tea/coffee/complimentary mineral water in the room. Would definitely return here.

Upon check in we were disappointed to be told that we wouldn't have a renovated room. First impressions - amazing!! Lovely welcoming staff. Beautiful duplex family room on two levels. Two baths, three tvs and enough storage space for a month's stay! And it's clean, bright and tastefully decorated in neutrals. The kids are super excited!!!

Only 5 mins walk from the train station, in a lovely square, and only 5 mins from the main centre of the city. Hotel is modern, fresh, clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good - the freshest breads and pastries we had. Staff were brilliantly helpful, friendly and professional. Excellent little roof-top pool for relaxing and taking in the evening atmosphere from up high. Beware that there are only about 20 beds / chairs, so there is no guarantee of a place to sit. We would most definitel... Read more

My family and I stayed at the family duplex with plenty of space for 5 people. I already knew they were wrapping up construction and wasn't bothered by the noise. I know some members in my family did hear the construction noise early in the morning but it wasn't anything that was too intrusive. We really appreciated their attention to accommodate everyone during the transition. 2 of our mini refrigerators were fully stocked including alcohol, while it wasn't necessary this made it easier for us... My wife and I stayed in this hotel on a recent holiday in Florence. On arrival we were given a room which would have been too small for a week's visit but we were able to get an upgrade at a reasonable price to a double room on the 5th floor overlooking Piazza Santa Maria Novella. This room was extremely comfortable and the view was stunning. Our thanks to Natalia for sorting this out for us. The hotel has been upgraded recently - the rooms are very comfortable with all the required facilities. ... Read more

We stayed in this hotel for a total of 11 nights during our trip to Florence and Tuscany. As we were planning to take our time visiting everything in Florence and also roaming to other cities in Tuscany, I selected this hotel in part on the basis of its location. For visiting Florence just about everything is within easy walking distance. But the hotel is also close to the main train station and regional bus station which was very handy when we went on day trips to Lucca (by train) and Siena (by... Read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay here. It is within walking distance of everything and the staff helped us with hotel reservations and directions. There are often street musicians in the plaza outside of the hotel, and we spent our time after dinner with a gelato, enjoying the music. Great breakfast buffet with terrific service.

Centrally located in Florence 5 minute walk from train station. Centrally located to most Florence attractions (walking distance). Enormous room on first floor with spacious bathroom, murano glass chandelier, big screen tv. Limited wifi. Abundant breakfast buffet featuring eggs, bacon, pastries, cheeses and meats. Rooftop pool which allows for wonderful panoramic views of Florence, however limited seating if you want to sunbathe. Elevator a little bigger than other hotels we stayed in in I... Read more

This was the best place we stayed at in Italy. We travelled for two weeks, stayed at four hotels. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is in a great area. It is walking distance from train station. It is close to most of the great tourist sites. It is situated in a square that insulates it to a great extent from all the noise of the city. Considering we travelled with our three children (August), the rooftop pool was a real plus. The complimentary prosecco at the outdoor restaurant near the sq... Read more

We vim have visited Florence many times, and this is the best hotel we stayed in. The majority of the rooms have been renovated to a high standard, well located in the square and easily accessible in and out of Florence. We had a car which is easily parked through the hotel's concierge service, and were able to drive in and out of Florence from the hotel quickly. The hotel services are fantastic with daily changes of bed linen, full room clean and courtesy of ALL staff being friendly, helpful a... Read more

Two nights here and I am bowled over by this hotel. Staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable (special mention for Alessia on reception), excellent breakfast selection and spotless, comfortable room with very efficient aircon and powerful shower. After a day sightseeing in the heat and crowds, the rooftop pool was a godsend to cool off, lots of people enjoying it so it's a splash around rather than a swim. But sitting up there with feet cooling in the water, glass of red wine in hand and wa... Read more

We just finished a very enjoyable 3 night stay in Florence and the Grand Hotel Minerva. The hotel is in an excellent location. Close to the train station and a short walk to mostly all the other sights...Keep in mind this is a very modern hotel and not a historic "old world charm" kind of property. Having said that the staff have been great, helpful and friendly. Our room on the 5th floor was very clean modern and bright. Very nice bathroom too. Housekeeping very good. THe Minerva was a terrific place to stay for our 4 days in Florence. The staff is very friendly and indefatigable. The renovation is tasteful. Breakfast is the most varied we enjoyed anywhere. The Art on the walls is interesting, and there is a good sense of place to the Hotel. Service around the pool could be a bit nicer, you sense that this is a new offering for them and they have not really figured it out yet. Wifi was easily overloaded by the number of devices we used (6-8 at times). The Hot... Read more

My daughter and I stayed for two nights in a remarkable, high-ceilinged, fresco adorned chamber. I must say that every little detail in this hotel is charming. We loved the view onto the piazza out our front shuttered window, the bed and its fine linens gave great comfort after a day's sojourn through the magical streets of Florence. Front desk staff were all so warm and genuinely helpful. We also enjoyed the breakfast-remarkable cakes made by the restaurant. Never thought I would so love c... Read more

My mother and I chose this hotel for our first holiday together in 15 years. What a choice! The hotel itself is really easy to locate, just a short walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station in the SMN piazza. This piazza is a little quieter than the other piazza's in Florence with less street sellers and more of a laid back atmosphere, the perfect tonic after a busy day of sight seeing. The rooms are great, really good amenities, very clean and comfortable. The roof terrace with its bar ... Read more

We were unlucky, and the reservation to the original hotel was cancelled. However, lucky enough to be transferred to Grand Hotel Minerva. Great service and help, they gave us the last room available. We were pleased to see that Hotel Minerva had an amazing rooftop With pool bar and the most amazing view I have ever seen. The room was average, however we did spend most of our stay by the pool with a glass of Prosecco. The Perfect Balance between luxury, however not overwhelming, and in some way, ... Read more

This was the perfect hotel for us on our visit to Florence. The location was great for walking to all the places we wanted to visit, the hotel has a great feel, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The staff here were among the best of those we encountered anywhere in Italy or Switzerland during our most recent visit. We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Minerva. Our room was very nice, but the bathroom was very basic. I think we had one that hadn't been updated. Enjoyed the pool and terrace and location on the Santa Maria novella piazza, which is beautiful. Complimentary breakfast is also really well done.

Having lived in the city a few years ago, this hotel has been my all time favourites. The rooms can be spacious and comfortable with beautiful view of the city. I am particularly impressed by the cocktails prepared by members of the bar staff, Lorenzo and Amine. I would definitely return to this hotel again and again.

From the moment you step into the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella and spy the Grand Hotel Minerva you know you are in for a treat. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable wedding anniversary with an upgrade to their unique suite. It was a room fit for a king and queen and we enjoyed it immensely. Right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, this hotel is perfectly situated in Florence. It's not directly in the city center, so we found that the food options were better near the hotel, and Florence is such a walkable city that we never felt far from anything. It's also close to the train station which was nice on our last day. Though the rooms are nice (clean and modern), the real highlight is the rooftop terrace and pool.
